Cool! I cant believe you fly with all those obstacles! 😮 That landing approach is like a bush airstrip. Over the trees and chop the throttles, FLARE!Beautiful property. I’m getting back into RC. Been a full scale commercial pilot 36 years, retired recently. Got a Apprentice and a ASW 17, Spektrum NS8 and RC Evolution simulator. Got 8hrs. Of sim time various planes . Ready to go fly RC in a day or 2 at RC field. I have 10 acres hayfield plus neighbors to fly over. Wyoming. No trees! There is a Fox 3.0 in my future. Back ordered to June 2023. Good time frame. I’ve got awesome slope soaring.

Wow! I’m new to this hobby after a 30 year hiatus. I’ve got to get this plane. Your videos are great because they show every aspect of an actual build and not a whole bunch of segmented cuts. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to put these together Brian!

The first Fox 3000mm planes imported here came with 550KV predator motors, after numerous prop blade failures they now come with 470KV motors IIRC..This was FMS's solution for shedding prop blade problem...
@BrianPhillipsRC4 жыл бұрын
Well, at least FMS is responsive to these concerns. I personally, really appreciate this, since as you know many RC MFG's will just keep releasing bad design. I love this model, and it is EXCELLENT. If they reduced the power on the motor rather than strengthening the prop...oh well, it's still plenty powerful, and a wonderful plane!!! I hope you get a chance to fly one Darrell!
@TIC543214 жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC Agreed.. When I shed a prop blade it also tore off the nose of the plane and broke the motor mount.. FMS sent me a new front fuselage, motor mount, new prop blades and the 470 KV motor. I was impressed. The blades failed at the brass bushing, the design remains the same AFAIK but the lower KV motor is easier on them.. The bummer is the 550KV motor was much better in climb performance obviously

You CAN if you get the AVIAN ESC, then the telemetry data is passed back from the ESC. If you use the AR637T or AR8360T, or 6610T for example, you have to use the little red and black cable with the micro PH connector back to the telemetry port. Without AS3X/SAFE... bprc.me/AR410 bprc.me/AR620

Brian I need a decision between the planes listed below (I ready own the Conscendo and the Night Radian). FMX Fox 3M FMS AWS-17 Fox 2.3 meter Volantex ASW-28 Coolest to watch in the air: Best for thermaling: Best for sport flying: Most fun to fly overall:
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
Tough call. The Fox 2.3 would be the BEST flying, if you want to do all those things.... if you LESS the Thermal, the FMS ASW-17 or Fox 3m quickly take first place. They're more heavy...bigger and heavier, but higher wing loading...thus not great for thermalling.
@peterp.35303 жыл бұрын
What can I say, I have Volantex ASW-28 2,6 m (?) but it flies like a turtle, I think the area of ailerons is too small. Moreover the big crosssection's fuselage generates a lot of drag. Now I have ordered that 3 m FOX, after watching Brian's good film ... I hope it is good deal (?) My wife will kill me ....
@ianreed46362 жыл бұрын
I watched another channel where the guy actually made it where he integrated the flaps and Ailerons together , and made it one big aileron on each wing . He did this on the Commander .
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Full length ailerons would be cool, and can be setup fairly easy, but need a bunch of channels...PLUS now they're offering this plane with the Reflex (stabilizer) so you might not want to spend the extra cash for that feature, given it's not necessary for good flight performance...but the cool factor is definitely fun for us RC enthusiasts.

I think they only recommend 35C to account for overrated batteries. A 5000mAh 35C can deliver 175 amps. The ESC is only rated for 70 amps, so only a 14C battery should be necessary. I know it's good to have a higher C-rating for peppier performance, less internal resistance, better lifespan and less heating/puffing, but 30C is more than twice the maximum amps of the ESC

Getting them apart is a pain in the tuckers. I'm going to put some skateboard tape in strategic places and paint the bottom and leading edge and wing tips maybe something on the tail 🤣

Hello Brian, As of know, I did a few more flights and she is smooth….Thanks again for your vid. It helped me alot. Did you ever did a vid of the FMS Tigercat F7F, I know its a older model but at my club the grass is often long. I like the look of that model and the wheels are slightly bigger so that should help. If not can you suggest something with a sturdy retractable wheel system and two motors. Oh …and large model.

Brian, I was wandering for reception/loss of signal do you think the receiver you used in the aircraft would be better than the AR620 which is antenna less? I don't need the telemetry.
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is a LOT better. I don't trust the antenna-less rx'es for a longer range plane like this. There's guys that will be way up at 399 feet ( huge wink here... ) and the signal will eventually degrade with higher altitudes ;)

Hi Brian and Film Crew, I bought my first RC in 40 years thru your channel! I purchased the E-Flite Night Radion. It comes tomorrow. My drool cup is overflowing. Your videos inspire. I've got a question about this plane as it will be the next one I buy thru your channel. In the text portion you called out: AR-6610R AR-637T Then it says the AR-6610T is featured. What's going on there? Shouldn't either receiver do the job? My main interest is the Vario. My other interest is range. I've got some of the coolest geography where I live to ridge soar but it was inaccessible for hang gliding due to zero landing areas. I've good eye sight but losing this plane like I lost all my other planes in the 60's and 70's would not be good. What's the range roughly? Then .... I type this and see Radio Setup above....I'm pushing comment anyway! ;-)
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
Awesome, and thanks! Glad you're using our links!!! This REALLY helps! Range is "Beyond Line of Sight" - AKA WAY longer than you had back in the 60's and 70's...and I doubt you'll run it out, but in doubt, you can do a "RANGE TEST" where the power is cut by a factor of 10X, so you can SEE where you'll lose signal...but I have never had this issue on DSMX. Here's a quick breakdown of what we usually suggest... AR410 bprc.me/AR410 - Simple 4 Channel Air Rx with limited telemetry - No AS3X & SAFE AR620 bprc.me/AR620 - Simple 6 Channel Air Rx with limited telemetry - No AS3X & SAFE >>>> Featured in Video >>>> AR6610T bprc.me/AR6610T - More telemetry - No AS3X & SAFE The one DIRECTLY above was what we used (AR6610T), but this one has no SAFE or AS3X, which you might not need...so if so, this would get VARIO but give up stabilizer (AS3X) and auto-leveling (SAFE), but I suspect you don't want or need that??? AR630 bprc.me/AR630 - AS3X & SAFE with limited telemetry + INTERNAL Antenna AR631 bprc.me/AR631 - AS3X & SAFE with limited telemetry + EXTERNAL Antenna AR637T bprc.me/AR637T - AS3X & SAFE with FULL RANGE telemetry + EXTERNAL Diversity Antennas The one DIRECTLY above would ADD AS3X and SAFE to your feature set, if you want to add that. AR8020T bprc.me/AR8020T - FULL RANGE telemetry + EXTERNAL Diversity Antennas AR8360T bprc.me/AR8360T - AS3X & SAFE with FULL RANGE telemetry + EXTERNAL Diversity Antennas
@Navigator777777 Жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for that, Brian.......But I'm missing why you put two receivers in the Fox? I do want a Vario and I do want AS3x and SAFE. Can't say I know what Full Telemetry is yet. I understand the external diversity antennas. I've got a DX8 Gen2. I'm thinking the AR637T or the AR8360T would give me the vario. But why two receivers?

@@BrianPhillipsRC My Fox arrives in hours! I'm holding your video personally responsible. ;-) I like! I think I figured out my question. I'm gonna monkey see monkey do. I'm putting in an AR637T connected to the Reflex. What is the vario and what does it do?
@BrianPhillipsRC2 жыл бұрын
Vario is a BAROMETER based tool that is used to measure change in altitude. Very accurate, and very cool for thermalling. Higher pitch means gaining altitude while Lower pitch means losing altitude, and both with varying intensity based on how FAST you're ascending or descending. It's usually a BEEP pattern. They use them in real sail planes and some use them in other flying systems.
