Thanks for this Review. I'm a Fan from Germany and after your Videos I decided to buy one Habu STS 70mm as my First plane... And what should I say... First flight in Safe Mode as an absolute beginner and directly 5 perfect landings. Thank you very much for this advise for Beginners👍

Huge respect for Brian and camera crew that not only brings very useful tips and trix to the table, but also makes it a ton of joy to watch. I salute you sir, Subscribed! Thank you.

I bought this one for my son (that time 10 years old). He was exercising before with drones. This plane was exactly the right one to start with planes. We had 2 serious crahes, but it was easy to fit. Using 2 component glues (e.g. UHU plus 5 min). We bought a much better recharge unit and a stabilizer and stronger accus. He is now nearly 12 and fliying expert mode. The only bad construction is the landing gear. On gras we had many problems with it and reorder spare parts several times. Even the nose gear boke out completely with the frame. But I can absolutly recommend this plane for beginners. And you'll have a lot of fun. Even here in Germany. 😊

Thanks to your and RC saylor,s review I bought this for my very first RC jet/aircraft not first jet but first aircraft. Maiden flight no landing gear hand launched on 3s with no problems and no scuffs on landing. Used the simulator for about a month before the maiden and I 100% know I couldn’t get away with the way I went about it with any other jet but your all’s guidance was crucial, thank you!!

Took off and was in beginner mode the jet wouldn’t let me turn hard, “because of beginner mode” and boom flew right into a tree. Spent 4 hours trying to get it down repaired the damage. Thanks beginner mode! Time for round two! This time on intermediate! Trees in my area are spaced out just the same as Brian’s Phillips property in the video.

Another great video. I will be watching the unboxing right after these comments. Late last night I asked your recommendation for a good first EDF jet for a pilot with some experience. This and the Habu SS were your recommendation. Thank you. At soon to be 65, this jet on 3S and 4S appears to be enough to satisfy my flying likes. So I’d have to lean towards this STS over the SS. Thank you for your quick reply last night. It was laaaate when I posted my question. You have always been incredible with your help. I know late last Summer I was bugging you a lot before I purchased my 2000mm Beaver. All that you and Megan are doing for the sport is greatly appreciated. You both are a true blessing. Looks like the Habu STS are in the future for me. God bless.

Just got one, looking forward to flying this baby! Thanks Brian for your in-depth review, setup and flying fun for this plane and the hobby! BTW: The "between the sheets" banter between you and the wife are perfect. Few points to note for others: (1) Make sure the wing hard-points in the body for the wing screws is properly glued into place - mine were but other folks found this was a problem (missing glue - QC issue) and glued them back themselves. (2) You will need to trim the front wheel control horn back a bit to keep it from contacting the plastic housing that holds the servo or it will bind/catch and not work right. HH should use a shorter control horn or just trim it back at the factory. (3) The SMART battery will come without the auto discharge setting turned on - I always set mine to 48Hours (personal preference) to help keep the battery happy. I used the XBC1000 to do this but the new SMART chargers can also do this. (4) Other who fly this plane on grass field have noted grass debris getting sucked into the fan intake and causing real problems - check it often and keep it cleaned out if dirty. Happy flying! FWIW: Since it comes with the simulator, it would be a real good idea for new pilots to install it and practice a bit on the simulator with this plane BEFORE heading to the field for the first flight on this plane! This is my third plane in my stable (only one crash yet, minor fixes) and that is my plan. My planes: AeroScout S 1.1M RTF (relearned to fly on it), Conscendo Evolution 1.5M BNF and now the Habu STS RTF. I also have the DX6e radio.

We're glad you enjoy the banter. We try to keep it "otherwise clean", but we don't want to be so prudish that we can't sneak in a laugh from time to time. yes to your points ;) Point 4 - As I say, keep your tip clean - This also apply to your intake and exhaust...and thrust tubes - LOL Your plane progression is good. You're on the way to flying anything you want! Keep at it!!!

Heads up to people building this. I did a maiden and almost crashed because it wanted to loop evene in safe. Pay atyention when Brian plugs in the rudder and elevator in the tail section. He said it felt like the plug came out very easy. That was the problem. You really have to push hard on the connectors. I used one nail on each side and pushed hard. It went further inn.

Light on the wing! Holy cow! W/the mild wing sweep, "dogtooth" leading edge helping the stall characteristics (like on the Apprentice) & relatively thick airfoil, it makes a nice mellow jet.. I'd say it deserves a slotted flap upgrade, would make it a STOL jet kinda like a PC-24 or the straight wing Cessna Citations! Good stall characteristics + no percieved torque, no P-factor! So nice, while not being "too much" plane for beginners. Didn't see tip stall/ spin tendencies of swept wing/high aspect ratio(long skinny like Cub, Timber, etc) Bumper nose, lol! I might have to get one!

The Habu STS (3S & 4S trainer) does if you add GPS option, which I don't recommend. This is the STS...the new 4S & 6S "Ev0" just has SAFE Select, so it's supports less options, since it would be a strange option for a more "advanced" RC pilot. I really suggest if you're having difficulty with orientation, get the sun BEHIND you...this is a HUGE part of the problem for most newer (and experienced) pilots. If you fly like I do, a lot of the time, you have to "wiggle" the plane to see what the orientation is, or just get lucky. This too, is another helpful trick. you can wiggle the lesser of dangerous controls...the ailerons or elevator...but just make sure you know for certain what your "out" will be BEFORE you try it. Remember - you can cut throttle and just slow the plane down to almost a crawl, if you need it with this plane. Keep at it, and you'll start to have a much easier time. This take TIME and some help from a good set of eyes, if you have this luxury. I had to by my eye-sight ;) LOL

Maidened mine tonight. If u watch all the vids on the Habu everyone says how it may be a great or the best trainer and stuff. This thing is by far the easiest plane I’ve ever flown. I started on a CG Eaglet 50 a few years ago 😜. No comparison. ...Delta Ray for our little playground area. No comparison. Seriously. I got maybe 4 minutes, cause never had to slow it down. It is so friggin easy to fly. I will definitely teach my little girls to fly on this one. One flight and I’m already searching for Habu mods lol!! Nice call Brian!!

@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 2 жыл бұрын
SAFE will keep you from making massive mistakes, but if you're comfortable, I'd use it ONLY for help on landings, and when you wind yourself disoriented. Then you can make all the fun maneuvers, and just fly her how it feels good. I think the quicker you get OUT of SAFE, the better, but don't be afraid to use it when you want to have some piece of mind, or if it's really windy to help you get back to the ground. Don't let people try to rush you into doing it. It's 100% up to you. Now-a-days, you can have SAFE on almost any plane, so there's nothing stopping you from getting used to it, and taking FULL advantage of it's help. Good luck!

I'm glad I watched this again because I have struggled with getting mine going. I bought 2 esc and another gps binder Receiver. And still didn't work then before I smashed it into pieces I order another Receiver and I got it all working now. And another wing and cone because it got missed up in shipping. But I was just about to take it out and try to learn to fly. And have a 4s 3200mah and 4s 4000mah charged and ready to go. And u said something about registering with the fda so now I have to try and figure out how to do all that. It's so much to try and learn by yourself with no 1 to help. I try and watch videos as much as I can but it's easier for me to have someone show me and I've got no 1 to help me. So everything I've done so fare is just trying it. But I feel like I've not got much time left and I feel like just giving up on the learning how to fly. But if u have a video or know anyone that does on how to do the registration I just tried and they are wanting to know stuff I don't know what they are even asking. I set account up but I can't figure out how to go about registering your plane to get the number

More mAh CAN yield more flight time, but your flight times will always be a balancing act between the added weight of a larger pack and the additional capabilities that comes with the weight. EDF's do take a lot more power to keep flying, but the pilot sets the pace. You can make a plane fly 1/4 to 1/3 longer with good throttle management . Gotta play with it and see where you land (pun intended - LOL)

Hey Brian, I'm inclined to agree with you about getting the SS rather than the STS, but, I'm still curious on just how big of a 4s battery will fit in the STS. I have a couple 5000mah 4S batteries that I use in my EC1500 cargo plane. I'm really not planning to do much 6S flying with an SS, so thrust reverse is the biggest advantage for me. The SS Habus are back ordered till January, but, my local hobby shop has an STS in stock and it's the earlier version with the extra goodies in the box, the dongle and the trainer edition of Real Flight. It's temping to grab it due to the extra value, if my 5000mah 4S batteries would fit.

Could you show how to bind the controller to the usb dongle and setup real flight?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
Here's the BIZARRE trick...you must HOLD THE BIND BUTTON WHILE PLUGGING IT IN (So dumb, right?!?!?!) then the USB dongle will go into bind mode. This took me a bit to figure out. Then it's a matter of installing the ridiculous amount of software, only to need to download the applications, then finally, some years later, you will be able to fly using your "free" demo. It's a great demo, by the way, and being able to ding a REAL transmitter to the PC makes all the hassle (And there's a LOT) worth it. Also, the dongle will need to install windows drivers, and that takes a while + Internet connection too, FYI. I don't want you to wait for a video, caz I'm not going to make a video on the installation...WAY too many variables to share, and way too much "waiting around" and filling out forms with sensitive personal information. I MIGHT show a video of using it, thought some time. This is a COOL option to add into a RTF plane, but if you ask me, they ought to be including this in more planes ;)

You can run this plane on 3S or 4S. I show a couple sizes, but you can run it on a large variety of packs. If you get this as a RTF, you can just plan to fly it on 3S that it comes with. If you want best chance at success, I'd start on the 3S and then when you're feeling good with it, throw in the 4S. Give yourself a lot of room!!!

@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
yes, if you can get the right type of connector or use and adapter, or cut off the IC3 factory installed, you'll be fine...but if you cut off the IC3, you might loose some telemetry. If you buy it as a RTF, it comes with 3S. 3S is sufficient for fun, and learning to fly. 4S kicks it up a notch, but it's not a huge difference. I'd HIGHLY recommend the spektrum batteries...they are REALLY GOOD, and they charge a premium price for them too, I realize, but you can own 1 pack to do the work of 3 cheapies - I know from experience being Mr. Cheapskate, himself ;)

knowbeforeyoufly.org/home It's a huge joke of a government over-reach. Don't get too worried (yet)...You basically pay $5 for three years and put as small as humanly possible sticker with an id on the "outside" of your plane. I can't share this part on my videos since it's got MY UNIQUE ID, and people would be copying it like crazy. Now they added a "TRUST" test where you go through the AMA or another few providers (For free) and take this totally idiotic, stupid, useless test, and then you have to print and keep a copy with you (electronically or paper) and this whole TEST came about without ANY NOTIFICATION to me...even though they pulled it out of their butt ...they don't even keep record of who's taken it or not. It's a typical useless and meaningless exercise in futility to keep the AMA relevant. Don't be discouraged by this, one more unenforceable, idiotic government program. They're underfunded, and run by the FAA who's got bigger fish to fry. Just be nice to people watching, and if the cops show up, they'll want to watch you fly. If you're in question, fly at a flying club, then they'll have a bunch more rules you can "operate" under to keep the FAA out of your life. P.S. I don't talk about this on the channel much, since it basically makes me MAD AS HELL....and that's not a good look for someone trying to spread the joy of this amazing, wholesome, safe, family fun, experience. If you get any of these planes, they make some mention of it in each manual as you read the "compliance" section, like the FCC compliance, and UL Approvals, and all the rest of the useless government red-tape that just raises the cost of doing business here in the US, vs China - Thanks Fed ;) Hope this helps. It's hard to find anywhere else, but you can see I have links to Horizon Hobby below...but SIMILAR) HH Stuff CA Foam Safe bit.ly/30UbDPL Kicker bit.ly/2PRd5Mm Like Mucilage bit.ly/30RNnh0 This is a great item to get at your local hobby shop if you need some more help, then maybe you can just order online. I try to show these from time to time for people new to the hobby.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
oh yeah, any tape you've got lying around will work just fine. Glue it, then tape it together over the seam for a QUICK and dirty repair. If you need to reinforce the repair break spot, use toothpicks covered in CA or Mucilage like a staple, then glue the joint and stuff it together quick....get help if you can and cover the joint with tape, and you can basically fly within a few minutes to a few hours. If it's a REALLY bad break, you might want to go to a 5 minute or longer epoxy...but that's WAY more work and time. Also more messy, and stinky...but way stronger. Most of these bonds will be stronger than the foam itself, but they'll also be heavier, so keep an eye on your weight as you make repairs, and check and recheck CG if the repair is significant. Also, if you're holding together two BIG and/or Critical pieces, like half a wing, you can use BAMBOO SKEWERS like these amzn.to/3gfBu9r . Good luck! Happy repairs ;)

So with a transmitter from a trainer like the Habu or Aeroscout, I can in the future use it to buy a BNF plane? What do I need to look for in a trainer transmitter to ensure I can reuse it for additional, more advanced planes? Seems like the initial investment in a good trainer would pay dividends in the long run if I can reuse the transmitter for cheaper BNF plays to progress to.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 3 жыл бұрын
This is a loaded question. 1) If you plan to stay in the hobby a few years, buying an NX6 or NX8 will be a good "investment". 2) Using the RTF plane transmitters for other planes IS possible, but you will have some limitations. 3) Horizon Hobby, in their vast wisdom (LOL), made the Habu in RTF or PNF...if you get PNF, you will need more experience than the average new RC pilot...therefore, I'd still push people to the RTF, despite their transmitter preference ;) ...I'll answer your question...the one you didn't ask - YES, you should by the NX6 or NX8 if you love flying RC. Getting the RTF will get you some items you don't need, but they are good for backups, or a transmitter to use on you simulator on the PC. NX bit.ly/3mbVuNB (I'd get the NX8 - best value and will work for almost any BNF out and coming soon)

I just love your videos. You are an excellent pilot and your wife is an excellent camera person. You do a great job with the whole experience. I like how you typically start with the flight and then show the build, along with important details about the planes and electronics etc. I was wondering about the fact that to get safe to respond while holding the plane upside down, you need to give 25% throttle first. I discovered that by accident recently when I couldn’t get safe to apparently work while going over the plane in my kitchen. Then after giving some throttle I saw that it started working. That was on a BNF I have. However it isn’t necessary to activate safe with the throttle on another plane I have that was using a remote that wasn’t with the plane when I bought it. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it? I have an Aeroscout that I crashed so I purchased another one, a BNF version so I could use the stock remote. I didn’t have to bench test it with the 25% throttle thing first. Safe was working when I took off.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 3 жыл бұрын
"I was wondering about the fact that to get safe to respond while holding the plane upside down, you need to give 25% throttle first" - Firstly, this is not true. SAFE is on ALL the time that your SAFE Designation switch is in the SAFE position, while AS3X is only activated after you give 25% or more throttle. AS3X is stabilization, but SAFE operates off that same system. I hope this helps SOME. I don't mean to pick on your question, but rather to help you understand better how it's supposed to work. If you notice a deviation from this, you may have a problem. SAFE, on older planes defined LEVEL at power up (Upside-down plane would be qualified as the LEVEL position, and when you turn it on while flying along, the plane would try to find LEVEL)...this has changes since the early days of SAFE. NOW, the LEVEL is set at a different time (time of programming) and then will not initiate the whole plane until it's been brought within a few degrees of level (pitch and roll).

I agree. I was super weirded out at Horizon's decision to offer a PNF on this plane...BUT...if they offered it BNF, there would be so much stuff included that really only makes sense in a RTF, if you ask me. I think they should just make a RTF, and a BNF with only an AR637TA. One of the interesting parts of working with Horizon Hobby is hearing their rationale for making some of these moves, and it's kinda crazy how tough it is to try to keep hobby enthusiasts happy. There's about 1000 different types of RC fanatics, and they do a pretty good job at keeping the masses at bay ;)

Hey Brian I was just curious when on take off is it best to not apply elevator up until it gets to speed .. ? Like does riding full elevator from Start of take off slow my acceleration actually making myself need more run way ? Smaller planes haven’t exposed my bad technique yet tell now . Thanks
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
Do not pull up on the elevator at all. Let the plane lift into the air... If you have SAFE ON, you will just need to apply full throttle, and the plane will take off, since there's some UP elevator mixed into the throttle. BUT, when dealing with more difficult to fly planes, the rule of thumb is to get flying...don't force it, or you'll stall on takeoff. This plane, however, will not be that hard - don't over think it ;) Just give her some power and you'll be set!!! Good luck Rory!

Too heavy? ...just to update..2 months after ordering,...the new Habu arrived, but the tx wasn’t zip-tied, so it bounced around during shipping destroying the wing. Somehow two separate orders went in for a replacement wing and they arrived a day apart. BOTH had serious damage to the ailerons. I don’t know what to do! The wing that had the major damage has the best ailerons, so I’m seriously thinking about cutting them off and using them on the newest wing. btw, the replacement wings didn’t have any decals or electronics. You mean, cheaper than the SMART packs, or just a different size? Either way, I get it! First off, please keep in mind that the SMART packs do offer one very important point of telemetry data, which is PACK VOLTAGE to the provided SMART Tx (DXs, assuming you bought it as a RTF like most), so you might want to keep using SMART packs for the Habu for this reason alone, but if you can't tolerate the price, or lead times we're all loving so much right now, you can get any same cell count pack and similar capacity so long as the C Rating is at least 30 (pretty easy to get) and the Connector is an EC3 or IC3...anything else, you'll probably need to get an adapter to match up with your Habu. Here's the links for the companies we work with that sell lipos... Horizon Hobby bit.ly/38ZFade Tower Hobbies bit.ly/2XqHt45 Bitgo Hobby bit.ly/3kfe45L Hobbyking goo.gl/TynFdU Amazon amzn.to/2BGynZt Banggood bit.ly/3cEiP5d ...but I won't tell you anything more specifically. If I had to do it over, I'd be doing SMART packs. When I was first in the hobby, I was buying the cheapest, and it cost so much in form of bad batteries and down time, reduction in flight times, that I didn't even understand what I was missing until recently. I would suggest if you want longer flight times, stick with the Gen1 packs, for cost, and go with 3200mAh 3S (or 4s) 30C...but if you want cheaper PER PACK, you can do a 2200mAh 3S (or 4S) 30C Here's those links... 3200 3S bit.ly/3xcRWjb 3200 4S bit.ly/3rL7861 2200 3S bit.ly/3xl5IQJ 2200 4S bit.ly/3iiTjbI ...for cheaper batteries, Onyx are a good choice, but I'd stay away from the Eflite packs, unless you like being pissed off about crappy batteries. I've had more than one that came brand new and puffed.

I have a question about EDF’s, I have this one and I’m wondering if I should go for more mAh (4000 mah 4s smart) or more C? right now I have a 3200 4s 50c and I’m looking for a more power and a tad longer flight time. so I’m stuck between a 3200 4s 100c or a 4000 mah 4s (both smart batteries) thanks for any help
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 3 жыл бұрын
C rating has to do with HOW FAST you can discharge the pack, and nothing to do with the longevity of flight time. The mAh (milliamp-hours) speaks to how long the pack will last. Hope this helps!

There's like 5 degrees down, so yeah "NO" down for sure...it's kinda crazy, but it does work if you have the room ;) This keeps pilots in a good glide slope, even if they press the stick all the way down.

Brian, I am trying to add flaps to my habu sts rtf and I can't get the servos for the flaps to run. So far the only channel I can get to work them is port # 1 throttle. When I go in and assign one flap one aileron it make channel 6 unavailable in the channel assign menu and the flight controller won't work on channel #8 for the flap servos. Do you have any thoughts on this? I am using a dx8e spektrum remote. I did chat with horizon and one of their experts, he was of no help.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 3 жыл бұрын
a) You will NOT be able to add flaps using the Throttle channel. b) this is a tough part of adding flaps on any RTF plane...the channels are already spoken for, so if you intend to use the feature, you might be better to start looking at channel 5,6,7,or8 - I don't know if they're "Available" but where there's a will, there's a way. I have literally added flaps on planes by adding a SECOND receiver ;) (If you're curious, Cessna Citation Longitude UMX, Cessna 182 UMX, AeroCommander UMX, three examples...they were ALL very tedious, and hard work, but worked AMAZING on all three planes at the end of the day...Citation Longitude I didn't have to add a second Rx....to be clear) Step one... Find the channel, if it exists (and IT MAY NOT!!!) Start by plugging in the servos, then actuate those channels... don't even bother with channels 1-4..they are NEEDED for typical control surfaces and throttle. Step two... Get servos to output in the same direction...DO NOT MOUNT THEM SYMMETRICALLY...they need to be laid in the wing the SAME DIRECTION (Which will look STUPID...but trust me...then when you see how they MOVE, you'll get it). Step three... Cut the flaps. This is easy with a sharp knife, but I've also used a HOT knife too - whatever you do, Plan to use a simple TAPE hinge - this will be on the BOTTOM of the wing, allowing the flap to FOLD DOWN ONLY. Step four.... Mount a Control Horn into the flap Step five... Make a control rod...use one from a crashed plane or get some "Piano Wire" (AKA Music Wire) and fold the ends into a "Z" bend (you don't have to buy the TOOL, but you CAN too...I would NOT...just use needle nose pliers). Install them at both ends, leaving a LOOP in the middle, or a "V" to make coarse adjustments in length. Step six... Setup the radio for Flap to Elevator correction, if necessary.

@@BrianPhillipsRC ya funny stuff, I knew that throttle flaps wouldnt be good how did you add a second receiver( is that described in one of the above mentioned videos) ? That sounds interesting and and somthing I can do I have a ar 620 sitting by. The mistake I made was cutting in flaps, hinging them and milling out the servo pockets, which do both face the same way, before I found that the flight controller wont let me do it. It has the esc plugged into port 6 it has the 5th channel for the front steering servo. As you pointed out channels 1 thru 4 are spoken for except that nothing is plugged into port 1 also the bind port is open as usual with electric planes. Channel 7 has the landing assist plugged in and channel 8 is open but wont function for me even tho ive assigned it to a switch and made shure it works on the menu. I really wanted the 3 position safe mode and the landing assit just as a novelty and for a couple friends. I am used to having planes without gyros or safe and am thinking I may just put in a dumb receiver so I can have flaps and enjoy the plane, cuzz it is really nice flying. The thing is i got it used and it looks fine but once I had it in the air I put it in beginner mode and it violently rolled left and turned left with elevator all at the same time! This would wreck an inexperienced pilot! I flicked her in beginner mode a couple more times with the same crappy result! We did hand launch it on its maiden and balanced like the manual says not only is it tail heavy with stock 3s 4000mah bat in the nose! It balanced with a 4s 3200mah in the nose so flew it like that and it wouldnt level in safe wanted to nose dive into the dirt. Had to manually pull up and once it got some speed took it outa beginner mode and trimmed it to fly level, so maybe cg is wrong plane needs to be a bit tail heavy? Also it did fly level at first in beginner mode it wasnt till I had it trimmed that I flicked it back in beginner mode and it freeked out! Every time. Once it was on the ground everything worked fine?? Horizon said to send it in! I don't know if I will. I tried to deactivate safe mode and it wont work on the habu. No matter how i bind it still programs safe modes in? So I was thinking a ar 620 could be put in to avoid some one putting the habu in beginner mode and having a crash😲😵pluss were I fly allot is tight I could use the flaps for sure. Well thanks again

@@BrianPhillipsRC Brian, I stripped out the problematic flight controller. Installed an ar620, set up flaps on the Habu. Took it out rolled out 3 times, perfect. Really is a nice plane to take off with from the ground( even tho i did hand launch it on its maiden). Sorry for the slow reply. Our internet was being soooooooooooooooooooo slow (33kbs) the other night, and I literally couldn't get this video to load ;( As for what I was saying you can USE the 3S or 4S lipos...and I was just talking about WHERE to put them. Just put them in the plane, as far forward as you can, and then RECHECK your CG if you go between big and small batteries. When you get them kinda figured out, MARK the spots in the battery area so you can slide them into the right spots, and you'll be able to very quickly switch between battery sizes....but this plans is SO forgiving on CG, you probably won't even notice if it's not right.

A long time, like an hour or so, but this is a guess. I almost NEVER use the S120 that came with it. I think that charger is only OKAY...but I did update the firmware on the two chargers I still have. My son likes them since they're so easy to use, but NOW that we have the G2 S2200 ( S2200 bit.ly/398ohO6 ) it is totally plug and it's charging...when it's done you put the pack away. Literally no effort! When and if you figure out you're gonna be in the hobby for a few years, please seriously consider something like this. It will make charging your lipos such a non-issue, you won't even think about it :)

Mine arrived today. It must have been a Monday at the factory. Wing bolt holes are not aligned (can't get both the span-wise bolts in, only one or the other), nose wheel linkages needed a complete redo. What should have been 15 minutes of assembly took hours. I'd send it back but Horizon wouldn't be able to do anything in under 3 weeks according to the email they sent me. I'll probably have to cut out one of the wing bolt fittings and re-install it in new foam. I expected better than this. Hope it flies well.

Would this be your FIRST plane? If so, you COULD do it, but it's not maybe the best choice, since it's pretty expensive for plane #1, and it's still and EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) which means it still has some more challenging tendencies that a prop powered plane might help you to avoid. That being said, you would be getting EVERYTHING you need to start, and you could move from this plane to another plane with some goodies to help you move on to your next plane, BUT I honestly think this might be a better second plane. Here's my short list of beginner planes, and their links for videos. Hope this helps Kevin! I Want to help you succeed, but I know sometimes the best way to find success is to work through some level of failure, BUT when you get into RC aviation, if you find complete failure, you will be done before you begin, in most cases...so this is why I suggest possibly the MINI-APPRENTICE or AEROSCOUT... @BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
NX8 would be a great platform for you to grow into, for sure... BUT if you want all the features, you pretty much have to buy the RTF. Here's what you need to get flying, but it's NOT going to be the "SAME" as the RTF, for your information.... NX8 (Transmitter) - bit.ly/2Ji3vCA AR637T (Receiver) - bit.ly/3pW3u86 Habu (PNF) - bit.ly/3ruXiEu 4000mAh 3S 30C SMART Lipo - bit.ly/3htyd8J 4000mAh 4S 30C SMART Lipo - bit.ly/2KDuTeS S2100 AC Dual Charger - bit.ly/3mUCtPG ...you will be very well served getting the NX8 now, but you might still find that it's cheaper to buy the RTF and then just get the 4S Battery at a later time, and consider upgrading just the Transmitter later on too. Habu RTF - bit.ly/2KYuDH9 Keep in mind, this one comes with a cheaper charger, and a DXs, which WILL work, but not as good. It will however, be setup for almost immediate use, which is good for a beginner.
