Nice upgrade Brian, 420 is a weapon. Over here in the UK we have a customer on a dairy farm who clocks almost 2000hrs a year on his loadall. Hope you enjoy the new one 👍

Were I used to work they bought a JCB just like that one but 10 years older. We found out you must grease the lift cylinder daily or you will wear out the hole wear the bottom pin goes thru the cylinder. Also if you live were it gets bellow 0° make sure you get the cold weather package for the hydraulic oil. If you don't you can blow a hole in the hydraulic oil cooler while idling. That happened to me one morning. Happy birthday Brian.

Metric is, 6.0 metre reach, 3.8 tonne max lift hence the 538-60 The agri controls are also different to a construction spec but the main difference is power and road speed Q-fit is jcb specific

A good way to master forks on any telehandler. Boom out to the load, as a rule, instead of driving into a load. Tilt forks down till both fork tips are visible. Line forks up with load to be lifted. Extend boom to insert tips in load. Simultaneously boom down and tilt forks up to further insert forks in load. You're in. Now level out forks to match load and boom out, up, down, as required to fully insert and secure load. Takes practice to master however.

We have two 540-170 telehandlers which are running at 14000 and 15000 hours. We only had to redo the injector pump because of Kerosene in the diesel and on the other we did the brakes. Great machines

Well, your problem was you needed a hi-tip bucket (forward hinge bucket) which you should probably look into getting as well. Super handy for doing ground-to-hopper work since you can reduce the wear on the boom's wrist. That 420 is going to chew its tires up a little faster than your old one on surfaces, just take the articulation easy and smooth and it should last you a long time.

That's one heck of an upgrade. I've seen a lot of livestock farmers having them. Great on moving bales and everything else around quickly.

538.60 means 5 series (all jcb telehandlers), 38 means 3.8 tonne lift (metric) and 60 means 6m reach! The agri models, agri super, pro etc are spec levels, usually go up in hp and gearbox (nicer dualtech one which is hydro at low speeds, gear manual at higher). Yes agri ones are way nicer to run, construction spec are very basic and slower in speed and hydraulic capacity. From england

We have a TM320. Servicing of that machine is a little challenging. We've had JCB, and new Holland telahandlers. The TM is holding alot better then the other ones we've used. We put an average of 200 plus hours a month on it. Overall it's better. I enjoy your U tube channel.

I'm surprised that there are so few telehandlers on farms in the States, here in the UK every other farm has them and probably half of them are JCB.

Thought the same . Looks like skid steers are the choice of equipment 🤗
@ianmcgrath64932 жыл бұрын
Yeah i always think that. I had a rare monoscopic loadall so rigid boom think it was a W reg so about 1980 they boomed in popularity from then on. I couldn't believe watching sonne farms evaluate a loadall and blown away at idea of telescopic. In think there side the pond space isn't the issue so they had huge loading shovels which gave them the height reach without needing telescopic boom
@jacekatzung74992 жыл бұрын
I think people like the compactness of skid loaders…but really the tele handler is better machine…faster higher lift capacity
@bzs1872 жыл бұрын
If you think about it, in Europe we have grain warehouse's, while USA use bin's. So they don't have a need for a telehandlers to move and load the crops.
@Jay_Force_One Жыл бұрын
There just really isn’t a need for a Telehandler on most US farms. A Skid-Steer can handle most tasks you would find on a US Farm. I think there is a few main reasons why Telehandlers are more popular in the UK. 1. Farms are just not all that big in the UK on average. Therefor, the infrastructure has maximum space usage in mind with them being so compact. In the UK the barns tend to have overhead lofts where bales, tools, and equipment can be stored. 2. Farms in the UK tend to be spread out with plots all over the place. Telehandlers are known to have higher road speeds and can move from plot to plot fairly quickly to deliver seeds, fertilizer, tools, etc. 3. Because UK farms are smaller. They tend to have smaller equipment and implements, which need to be refilled more often. Hence, a telehandler being able to travel around efficiently. That’s just not the case in the US. US farms are hundreds to thousands of Acres and have dedicated buildings for the storage or Equipments, tools and bales. The equipment tends to be extremely large and holds enough seed, fertilizer to do many acres of work. Even if they do need a refill, a skid steer won’t help. They need full pump trucks or auger wagons to refill them. So Skid-Steers work just fine for moving around stuff, and they rarely leave the yard.
@randybennett54172 жыл бұрын
The young guy on 10th generation farm was getting out of their front entry skid steer and slipped on the bucket, it hurt. JCB is so far ahead of other makes, safer for sure.

I got rid of my JCB, after years of constant breakdowns happy to see it go. Dealer started to ask us to pay for repairs, my argument was it broke down from the day we got it new, it was the same few problems every time from new, they should continue to repair the machine or replace the it. It was a happy day to see the JCB head down the drive for the last time, Fantastic machine to operate, just never lasted a more than a couple of months without a breakdown. The dealer even openly admitted the model we owned has design problems, it was actually taken off the market to redesign to have the problems fixed, The machine should have just been replaced it was so bad but JCB did not care we had a machine which constantly broke down

We have a 560-80 So 6t lift 8m reach 13k lb lift 26ft reach Got 2000hrs on it and it's still fine the aircons in them are total junk if you live in a hot country (Australia) The biggest advantage on them is they have very large hydraulic pumps Compared to a loader tractor anyway So you can run quite large hydraulic implements This one will be interesting, iv seen you load fert inside your fert shed I wonder if you'll miss the 4 wheel steering of the tele handler Alot more capacity than the little tele handler you had thought

Good to see you. Almost started to get BFV withdrawal. Have you been thinking about showing some crop scouting? It would interest me in seeing how the crops are progressing. That may be a broken record to you, but it never gets old to me. I've been thinking about the air on the combine header using so much power. You know more than me, but what if you changed nozzle direction or design? Maybe that fan should be in the middle. I would rather see more power used elsewhere.

If you want faster travel speed, JCB does make 50 kph (31 mph) versions of the 320S and 420S, with improved inboard oil immersed dual circuit front & rear axle bakes vs. the single circuit front only brakes on the the 40 kph (25 mph) models. The 320 and 420 models however only comes in 40 kph (25 mph) versions, while the 320S and 420S models comes in both 40 kph (25 mph) and 50 kph (31 mph) versions.

And now you can't see your palletfork at all from the driverseat... We have a similar Schäffer as the tm 420, but next time it's going to be a telehandler again. Much easier to get in and out. Better visibility from the cab. Just the boom up or down. We would go for a bigger model than yours though a 545-70 agrisuper would have been better for you as well. 6 gearbox, 40 km/h.
