Have run JCB loadalls for years here in the UK. Currently have a 541-70 Agri Super and a 541-70 Agri Pro. If you can justify it, go for the Agri Pro. The transmission swithches from hydrostatic to torque converter over a certain speed, meaning for yard work it is a dream with barely no need to use the brakes, whereas with a Super standard torque converter, you're always on the brakes and after a while a servo goes and they become numb. Also there is a huge difference in hydraulic cycle times between ours, although there is a few years difference between models.

@@BriansFarmingVideos I agree that the 420 is silly money we run a 2011 tm320 and it's unstoppable the only fault we found with it other than regular wear and tear was the fuel sediment bowl which JCB in there wisdom decided to make from plastic which distorted due to the heat in the engine compartment was only resolved when a new old stock glass bowl was found

They are a very popular machine here in the UK but there are other manufacturers with competitive machines - the main ones are Manitou and Merlo but also CAT and Terex as well as others are available. As usual the principle points are dealer support and regular routine maintenance. A common issue is that there are often lots of operators but no one assumes or is delegated responsibility for the necessary maintenance.

It always amuses me watching Americans talking about telehandlers, they are pretty much essential here in the UK, we run an old Manitou MLT 627. I'm not sure how popular Manitous are in America as its a French company but would certainly be interesting to see one out there. Most UK farms don't have silos/bins so we use the telehandlers to load up semi grain trailers.

We just took delivery of our second JCB 532 70 agri and love it so far! We only have 20 hrs on her. Sounds like the parts back in the states is slow(at least the comments say that). We have only had few issues with ours and to be honest for taking dairy farmers abuse its served us well. Mainly changed it over because the trade-in on the old machines with 5000hrs was quite good for the condition of the machine. Really nice machines for loading we use it for TMR 365 i know lots of farms that use them for loading hay and fert and replaced there frontends loader completely. Thanks for the video

They need to be stopped with the brakes. Flicking from forward to reverse just screws them. That's the same for any torque converter type transmission. Someone mentioned a mixed type of transmission on newer models which is definitely something I would look out for. Transmission rebuilds are expensive but totally a driver issue. Only ever done one transmission here over 3 machines and thirty years running them. Probably close to 40k hours put on those machines.

It would take some modification of trailers but a standard feature on teleporters in this part of the world is a pickup hitch. Euro type tractor hitch. Those handlers have a decent towing capacity. Load on enough seed for the day for both seeders onto the trailer and keep both tended. Hookup takes seconds.

There is a large dealership in our area that did well for a while. But the problem persists with parts, odd assemblies. It’s like they are mixed and matched with nothing uniform. A guy who I know that works in the shop tells me how the booms warp and then the pins and bushings wear out. We tried but after nothing but two years of problems we got rid of ours. Other then people from Europe I’ve never heard from anyone personally that has had any luck with them. We traded ours for a CAT and it’s a work horse that gets used every day.

Get an older skytrak (early 2000's) ,they are built like tanks without all that electric over hydraulic crap. We put thousands of hours on them on commercial masonry job sites that were usually a muddy mess ( north west PA in the winter)with minimal maintenance. They are powered by 4bt cummins and would lift more than they are rated for. The biggest thing is it's not a JCB.

Brian what do you got a look at is your initial investment numbers don’t lie you probably spent $10,000 for the diesel option if not more how many miles you got to drive it to get that $10,000 back plus the cost of the fuel and gas and diesel like I told you I ran the numbers on 200,000 miles on a dodge Cummins and it was a losing proposition you were put money into it do you have a gas mileage if you look at it compared to a diesel is a big difference the back when I was farming the only thing that made diesel appealing was too thanks safety because the flashpoint of diesel and diesel was five cents a gallon and gas was $.10 a gallon so diesel paid that’s why John Deere went to diesels in thereForest for the woods

Bob is sharp as a tack , he was doing the moments of digging out of a pile to load a spreader , to see how it compared to the loader ! I'll bet he suffers like myself ,being the smartest SOB in the room every where he goes !

I like watching your videos, how you all get along. I might be the same age as your dad,or maybe a slight younger. I bet he is proud of his 2 sons and the interest you both take in the farm. And have to also mention the supporting cast of the wives and kids. Soon your son will be going dad and grandpa, and I mean really helping. It appears to me he has the farm gene.

My Dad has an older 520. Good machine. One thing to keep in mind unless they have changed since 520, parts are expensive and the hydraulic fittings are English and hard to get.

Were I used to work they had a JCB. I used it to load feedtruck to feed cows. You must grease the main lift cylinder that lifts the arm up every time you use it. We didn't and the cylinder had to get welded up and bored out were the pin goes through. We found that out the hard way.

JCB makes very nice telehandlers, we've got a couple... only issue is parts are super expensive.
