You are right, i'm not a fan of 512 DMX. However, a controler like this built for the specific lights i'm using, i really like! Things like this or the RGB 3C & Duo Station are made for people like me all day. A great simple easy compromise

Good question. When working with a regular 512 DMX Controler with "fixture" buttons, you'll often end up with 8 faders & 16 addresses per fixture. There's a button that lets you control 1-8 in one position & 9-16 in another. So, to make things easy with the fixture buttons, you allow 16 channels per fixture weather they occupy 16 channels or not. On programs like MyDMX, the profiles replace fixture buttons & only occupy the addresses used. On the RGBW4C, each fixture only uses 4 addresses

Brian - I'd recommend the 4C controller even if you only have RGB lights because you can use the spare channels for those fixtures that only need a single DMX channel. They would be on the White channel.

Comscans = no. They are scanners & this is built for RGBW, RGBA, or Quad LED wash/par fixtures Mega Bar 50 RC - Maybe, but thoes lights are RGB. I'd recomend the ADJ RGB 3C for RGB and/or TRI LED fixtures. That piece is built for RGB wash/par fixtures and does it very well :)

Yes, ether the RGB 3C or the Duo Station is perfect for TRI LED or RGB wash/par fixtures :) Get the best lappy you can afford ALWAYS

Well Static anyway. assign half your fixtures to fixture 1 and the other half to fixture 2. Turn on fixture 1 & do a manual RGBW color mix. Then, turn off fixture 1 & turn on fixture 2 and do the other color in manual RGBW mode & presto!

Great vid. I'm a bit confused now on addressing...I've been keeping all lights 16 channels apart, like I was taught. However, recently I've been noticing folks doing it like you did in this vid. My lights don't have any "delay". Is there a difference between running them 16 channels apart vs running them the next channel up from the channels used on a particular light in the chain?

It's only complicated if you want it to be. Otherwise, it's as easy as an RGB 3C. It's about options. Make it hard or make it easy. Up to you.

Weird. when I turn the unit on, fixtures 4/8 are on and I cant even turn them off. Blackout is off to begin with. Is that because of the lights? it also starts up with "manual rgbw" on instead of "chases". took out the cable and it starts up like in the vid EXCEPT fixture 4/8 is on at startup. I dont get it.

Brian, Will this controller do 2 different sets of lights for uplighting? Lets say 1 set of QA Par 38's you have behind the head table showing Amber. Then around the room you have more uplighting and they want it Blue. will this controller do 2 different pairings this way? Or do I have to by seperate controllers? Thanks

MrCoolDude081 is correct. There are only 3 channels on the ColorBurst & the 3 DMX channels are not 1-red 2-green 3-blue.

I have ADJ Flat par tri7. Im thinking of buying this controller and In using the address function, would each light fixture take up 3 consecutive slots like A001 , A002 then A003 with the next light being set on A004? Because its a 3 channel light? Or would i assign it like how you have in this video?

The 1st time I watched your video I was able to use my 6 up lights and rgbw4c controller. Ive used them for 3 months now and have never had a problem. Tonight I plugged them in and can't get A005 to work. All of the uprights are on channel 4, the 1st, 3rd & 5th are on A001 and work fine. Uplight 2, 4 & 6 are on A005 and won't work. How do I fix this?

I think you could upload 2 different static colours for example lets say I'm doing a wedding reception and the colour scheme is green and purple, I assume it would be possible to make either the 2 static colours or make a chase sound to light, is this possible?

+John Q Those are both great controllers for 4 channel LEDs. either do the same job but the RGBW4c has 3 preset color options which Chauvet's Obey series does not. I would personally run This Board. But later down the road when you start buying higher end lights, you will need another controller so maybe also consider a larger board or a software and converter system like I use

You'll want a full-on 512 DMX Controller for that. This is a more simple economical controller

As long as it's capable of 4 channel mode, it should. your 4th channel "white" becomes a dimmer with RGB lights

I don't recomend this for TRI LED. I had very limited succsess with it. I think RGB fixtures get confused on the 4th channel. I'd stick to Quad with this controller (unless i did something very wrong setting it up)

I would say that preset colors normally involving white or amber will look different, not be "useless"... and several of the preset colors don't involve white or amber and won't look any different at all.

What s annoying me the most is when I go to sound activation mode in the manual it says that it cycles through colors but it does not. It does not cycle through any type of green color. Frustrating.

Yeah like I say above, this isn't a full-on 512 DMX Controller. What you want to do you can do with just about any 512 DMX controller with some programing knowledge and some time on your hands. This is just an easy affordable way to control Quad LED's

It'll be worse than useless for the inno pocket spots, since those have probably at least 12 channels. You'd only be able to set their colour, you wouldn't be able to control their gobo, pan/tilt, shutter etc. As for the uplights, it'd be fine for that.
