Really dig your videos, man! I watch them all, but never comment. When your videos pop up, I know beforehand its going to be substance and something I will learn from; I really do appreciate that.

An outstanding perspective . I look at it like you are creating a mood an environment for people to enjoy a celebration.

I'm like you Brian, in that I try not to have the focus on myself while I'm playing. I've been a mobile DJ for over 32 yrs. now & I've played over 7000 nites. Most of my work has been bar/club gigs although I do my share of private parties also. I am currently playing every week at 2 bars. One bar I've been playing at since 2009 & the other since 2010. I heard a very successful business man say something many yrs. ago that I never forgot. He said "The difference between good & great is in the details." I've always remembered that & I DO pay attention to the details. Even what may seem like very small "insignificant" details to other DJ's. I've found that the people "may not" notice these little details consciously, but it appears as if they notice them unconsciously. They will sometimes go & see another DJ somewhere else & then tell me that they just didn't enjoy him as much or they'll say he just wasn't as good. They can't really tell me why but they say they just didn't enjoy it as much. I believe that it's perhaps just the little "insignificant" details that they noticed were lacking.

I think, people get impressed when we give them more than the expected 😀

I’m glad u brought up the light blinding people why do video and photographers at weddings setup a bright white light flood the crowd and take away from the party I feel it ruins the vibe

i think you can shine a lights at an audience, but you just have to contol the brightness of them or the type of lights you use etc. even as low as 2% so as to create a nice show that does not blind people. looking at the lights is a show in itself, you can get them to be busy during the busy part of the music and to freeze during a drop and so on.

I attended my cousin’s wedding, the DJ’s charge was $4200 he had a laptop a set of EV 50’s an Everse 8 out on the Deck, facade, and Gig Bar the first series. They didn’t mix one song and what got me they went from the laptop headphone jack out to the speakers. Behind the facade it looked like a Bomb 💣 went off. Plus the DJ’s had no clue of what year music came out…

That's sad.

Oh my God that sounds bad and the money they charged it is untrue really, I think to DJ at a wedding you need a decent setup as it is a very important day for the couple so it all needs to be good and a day they will remember for all the right reasons.

I agree about you say about people noticing who the dj is. That is great but, like you said at events, like weddings or anniversaries . The main focus is on the ones that the events are for! I do believe, and it's a fact, some djs think they are the main focus at the events. But in my case it's all who you know and who knows you. Also if you have a following. But I have to say the following days ,for me, are over. People back in the 90's and 2000's wanted to know who the dj was. Now a days, people don't care as long as they are playing whatthey ask for, and what the audience wants to hear. Thanks for sharing Brian

I agree. Your average punter does not give a shit. As for cables etc , i always try and hide or at least keep them neat. I have played at clubs where i have had to spend more than an hour cleaning and sorting out cables in the dj box. I leave it as clean and neat as possible. Thanks for another cool topic

I’ve been to a wedding with a Spotify DJ, and he does weddings part time for $1500. Kind of nuts that even they have raised their prices.

My 12 year old daughter noticed a crap dj setup. Table, no skirt, speakers on floor, Amazon lights, messy cables. When she told me this, I'm like, you noticed all this! Most people do notice details
@oldschooldjernieАй бұрын
first of all was this a wedding or some shit event outside? I do outdoor and shitty VFW hall events and I never use a skirt or table cloth. I use wireless speakers so the only cable on the speakers are the power cords.
@djizzynycАй бұрын
@oldschooldjernie wedding or not presentation is a must. I do a few vfw venues and I treat it like any other event. Every event is important. You don't know who's there. I work at 6 different wedding companies because my work and presentation was up to par at one specific babyshower. My client had a friend in the business as a guest. You just never know who's watching.
@oldschooldjernieАй бұрын
@@djizzynyc true but i dont do weddings anymore. And i recently did a baby shower with just a plastic table, mixer and 2 CDJs....It wasnt awful but not carefully manicured like at a weddinng....im not into making that big money. i used to but caught up into that rat race like a coke junkie who finally realized its not healthy for them. But keep on doing what you like to do.

I'm OCD about cable management. Usually the fellaz notice.
@Grapevine_DJАй бұрын
Let me just get this off my chest. No one (guests) cares about moving heads. I have never been asked if I have moving heads. They want some blinky blinky. I hide my cables for my own satisfaction..

I tried to watch this video but that cable behind your head above the table is beyond triggering. Just Kidding! Great thoughts!
