Brian, what shoes DON'T you make? :) These must have cost a fortune (just the time alone to make the pattern with the right proportions?) I teach Geometry and this would be a super complicated dilation problem for me let alone the students. I've watched dozens of boot/shoe repair/making videos and yours are by far the most interesting, down to earth, real and the clarity/format is incomparable.

I really enjoy your video's, it shows either how a shoe or boot comes to life. Or, how a shoe or boot is given a new life, so to speak. Mostly it is very interesting work, at least for me.

I enjoy watching your videos. I am getting a few tips on how to make a pair of shoes/boots from your videos. I myself like repairing my own leather sole shoes. Bought an outsole stitcher off of eBay for a couple of bucks, and when I mean a couple of bucks, I mean $40 dollars for an outsole stitcher. Yes, $40 for an outsole stitcher. The machine was seized by the old oil, sprayed it down with some mineral spirits, let it dry, and oiled it. Works like a charm. I want to learn more about how to make shoes, I find it very artisanal and relaxing.

Your journey is interesting. When I researched my family history I found that when the first of my family name came from England to New England way back he was listed as a “cordwainer” - a shoemaker. That was and still is a very skilled endeavor as you show. I’ve made or fixed practically everything throughout my life but I’ve yet to make myself shoes. Seeing your work you have inspired me to give it a try. Thanks and best of luck as you move forward.

Hey, Brian, I know it's a bit too much to ask but do you think you could do a boot making series detailing the processes, methods, techniques, as well as materials and tools used? I'm sorry if its too much. I've wanted to stard a boot making company here in India since we don't get quality boots here but the only decent class I've found is in Chicago and costs $4,000. I'm not sure I can even get a visa let alone afford the class. I love your videos and I'm sad I only subscribed within the last two weeks or so.

Your videos are the first TV/screentime my slightly older than two year old daughter has been allowed to watch. She is as fascinated as I am, and she says she wants to learn how to do it too. She has always been obsessed with nice shoes, so maybe she will one day. She begs to watch you working for hours. My background is fashion design, corsetry, and costuming besides upholstering too, so lots of sewing and problem solving like I see in your videos but of course a bit different although I also love and use anttique machines and attachments. Your stitching is so impressive to me, and I can see you've had many, many, many hours of work to get to that point. If the machines weren't so big an investment I'd love to try learning more about boot and shoe making one day.

I not only like your craft because I know what it took for you to get there at least I think I know, but I like your personality I like the way you are so calm and patient and creative oh. Did you make those penny loafers out of your head? You went and made a raw pattern at Staples. Who does that oh, nobody. That's an art form that you can't say enough about. Such a young man gets into this business and still has humility and so much equipment. I have students who would love to see your videos. I am a subscriber now and when I look at all of the shoes I own oh, you know how we women are, I value them more because I see their potential and I see their origin.

Great work, there are ways to do this in a 3D computer model and then do the flat pattern from the model (that's how typical parts are made in sheetmetal). Then you could scale this to any size and print it in minutes. You learned Illustrator to do this and 3D CAD programs are similar to learn. Just a suggestion, hit me up if you're interested in learning more.

I liked that you scale stuff. i just subscribed been watching you for a while along with Steve at bedos leather works, and a few more. i don't do shoes but like the craftsmanship. i worked on cars and computers. doing patterns is harder that it looks.there is a bit of trial and error correcting.Think about sheet metal workers, they do that but on tin metal. great work.

How much precision is required in cutting, measuring the parts? I'm guessing that if you're off when measuring the lining pieces and the shell, it won't fit correctly (too small too large)? Or do you know tricks on making the final product come together that doesn't look all misshapen or out of proportion?
