I was born in 1960. White, female, middle class. In my youth, violence against blacks in the south was alive and kicking. Still is as far as I can see. Vietnam war protests were violent and deaths occurred. I watched the first man on the moon on a black & white TV. I remember the loss felt by a country when President Kennedy was shot. The loss of Princess Diana. The fall of Elvis to drugs. The first Black president. I've live through recessions, inflation, injustice, Americans being lifted up, Americans being lied to. This moment is something altogether different. Never have I feared that our Constitution would be torn up, discarded and a dictatorship ruled by wealthy elites to the detriment of EVERY America except 1% of the wealthiest become a reality. This is the moment we live in. This is why the wrong vote for the wrong reason, will cost you everything, or bring you everything. I am not alone in understanding the reality of this moment. Vote for a future where a person can at least dream of possibilities and not a life spent looking for an escape from a life of hopelessness. Vote Blue down the ticket and keep dreams a possibility.

He did do an interview with this same groups of journalists a few weeks ago, and the contrast between that interview and this one is pretty extreme. That was when he famously couldn't seem to understand how someone could be biracial, and said a few years ago she "turned black". Absolute racist nonsense, lies, and failing to answer a single question. Then his people cut off the interview 30 minutes early, claiming that he was out of time; many commentators thought that his team wanted to stop him from saying anything else racist/idiotic/etc.

This year marks my first time voting, and I will proudly be casting my vote for Kamala Harris. At 24 years old, I previously didn’t engage in the voting process, not due to disagreement with candidates, but simply because I wasn’t deeply invested in politics at the time. After thorough research and watching numerous interviews spanning her career-from her time as a Senator, District Attorney, and now as Vice President-I’ve come to admire Kamala Harris’s intelligence, kindness, and leadership. She is poised to make history as the first Black woman and first female president in my lifetime, and I feel incredibly grateful to witness this milestone. However, one critique I have is that she occasionally seems to experience stage fright when speaking publicly. While her confidence as a prosecutor and Senator was evident in past interviews, being in the position of President brings a different level of pressure. You can tell that she deeply cares about doing right by everyone, and that thoughtful consideration sometimes comes through as overthinking. I would advise her to relax and speak freely, as her genuine nature is one of her greatest strengths. It's clear to me that she has the country’s best interests at heart, especially in contrast to Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric. Trump’s tendency to stir up conflict and then avoid accountability stands in stark contrast to Kamala's thoughtful, inclusive approach. Kamala Harris’s commitment to ensuring the success of all Americans is evident, and that’s why she has my full support as the next President of the United States.

They would need to be filing taxes which probably means they’re working and have taxable income. Doesn’t sound like a handout to me? Sounds like helping working families.
