These videos where Laura is all over the property doing a lot of different projects are some of my favorites. We get a tour without getting a tour, if that makes sense. What an amazing childhood Benjamin and Samantha are living. It's full of the love of family, flowers, playing, cats, chickens, and sunshine!

Hi Laura. I think curving the edge of the rock wall will help soften that area. You have a number of right angles there and a curve would help naturalise that corner.

The brick patio area is coming out so beautiful! I think that continuing the rock wall and adding material and plants would definitely hide the stuff you want to hide easily. What an awesome progress over the years. We always look forward to what you offer us viewers 💕 Love watching your kids in the backyard casually playing too ❤️

Re: Purpose of the Brick Patio ~ ? ~ Is the patio going to be a space for Entertaining ? ~!~ Garden area Or a Patio? The entire property is beautiful... with a Zillion ~ shrubs / flowers / trees *But...what is the brick patio going to be used for? What about a 'Covered' area? What about a BBQ - pizza oven - counter - kitchen area - small fridge ~ Dining table (off to the side) and more Covered Seating. (are the bugs bad? Screened-in area?) (Is there enough room for 20 people in that area.. ? Is the Patio area getting a bit crowded? ) ~ You can always Add more 'stuff' later. A Covered Patio can be anything from a retractable awning to a pergola, shade cloth or a fixed roof. (Umbrellas aren't enough for many people to sit under all together......and can easily blow over in your wild wind) What do you really Need in the center? Do you Need another planter or a fountain in the Center? Will that be a waste of entertaining space? Something Removable in the Center for larger gatherings? What about future....Birthday parties / holidays / graduations / weddings? (area for the kids to play / games to play / people to gather) Somewhere to put out food / to be able to sit / eat and get out of the sun and bugs. Maybe there are 'plans' for another area for Family parties / gatherings ~ IDK. I agree...Continuing the rock wall / Awesome progress in such a short time / What all of us can only Dream of......

Two years ago I moved from a Zone 9 to a Zone 7. Knew nothing about gardening in a zone 7. Garden Answer to the rescue! Had a carpet guy here today to take measurements. He complimented me on my garden. Then he asked if I watch KZbin and if I'd ever seen Garden Answer. Told him I never miss it! Thank you SO much for your help, guidance and education. All my best to you and your lovely family from a die hard fan in Oklahoma.

Not everyone can run a forklift the way Laura does or back up a truck to hitch a trailer like Aaron. Your talents blend so well. When I see the planting beds in the south garden and remember the moonscape from which it grew, I am in awe. You are truly a fantastic duo to create beauty from ashes.

Beautiful Laura! I think you should put beautiful concrete containers on pedestals in each corner of the swoops and put the rock wall all the way along at same height to provide neat and tidy barrier against the brick walkway. Boxwood hedge on one side, rock wall acting as retaining wall on other. Can still do plantings to cover the equipment. It is gonna be gorgeous whatever you decide! 🇨🇦❤

I've been backtracking and watching garden tour videos starting when your first moved into the house. What an amazing transformation over the years combining great elements of what was already in place and changing or adding others for your specific style. And what a great style it is. Your aesthetic sense is very beautiful. This latest brick patio project is just one more in a long line of projects that you've done that add so much beauty to your home and gardens. Don't you just love seeing it all come together and the new plantings mature over the years! Pretty awesome to be along for the ride.

I would totally continue the stacked stone wall along the brick path and have it turn the corner and continue it all the way to the bench. I feel like that would really help marry the new brick patio space to the pathway and then on to the back kitchen door, that it would help make those spaces all cohesive.

The Brick Patio Update Tour - A feature to add to the flowerbed area of the joining paths and behind the brick wall would be a 3 arm lighting fixture with hanging lights. They would add drama and great lighting to the entrance at night. The sight line would be just to the right of the trellis keeping symmetry to the area. It could be put on a pad, pedestal etc... if height is needed. It could also add additional electrical plugs to the area. I am not a gardener but do enjoy watching your shows as I love design of all kinds.

I think some tall thin yew cones would set the brick patio off beautifully, it would give a very European look and be a different look from the rest of the property. I believe the stone pots may be too much hard scape in that area with a rock wall, brick patio, stone fountain, and any benches or chairs on the patio.

The patio is looking awesome, yes, I love how you defined the entrance from the parking area with the arbor and the brick pathway! I also like the idea of extending the rock wall, but what about bringing it all the way around up to the tree, to creates more of a planter. Then, you can have the sweet little bench area under the tree. That would separate that area from the formal side, and join it more with informal house side. Maybe you can stack some of the flagstone rocks around to see if you want to close that area in. So hard to know without being in the space, but just an idea. Thanks again for taking us along! 🥰🥰

QUESTION: You often refer to a seed vendor or company you use, but would you mind sharing or reviewing all of your favorites in one video. If you have favorite seeds to get from particular locations, that would be great, too. Oh, have never tried seeding geraniums, but after seeing yours several times, I want to try! In Laura’s world, “everything goes with Bordeaux” 😂🤣!! I don’t know why that cracked me up. Good job getting all the projects done. You truly are the energizer bunny 🐰!!! Loving the new veggie crop area. What a fun space.

My days in the garden are often just like yours today. I find, if I can be flexible, I do actually get quite a bit completed, just not what I expected to get done.

I think carrying on the rockwall extending from your kitchen garden out to the new patio area would give a nice illusion of differing levels of elevation. I know you love your parents’ terraced garden and are thrilled about that step down from the new patio to the Hartley garden room so I think that extending the rock wall gives a feeling of a third ‘step’ if you will.

Exciting to see the Ptilotus - its an Australian native plant, the traditional Aborginal name is Mulla Mulla (the mull sound rhymes with "dull"). They're gorgeous and should like your conditions

There are so many comments I doubt this will get seen, but at 4:18 you talked about masking those utilities, and I had an idea. I think it would be really cool to continue the rock wall, and incorporate it seamlessly into the border of small koi pond in that corner spot, as a retaining wall, and using the "water run" where the water trickles down as a way to "mask" the utility boxes. The boxes still need to be accessed but you could use some hallow plastic rocks or lightweight fake-hollow rocks to "cover" them and make them "look" incorporated, and then to the immediate left have a higher elevation rock-scape where the water originates before falling into tiny waterfalls into the pond. Your rock wall to the right would continue toward the patio and then become part of the "Wall" for the small koi pond. That way it becomes a peaceful water feature every time you get home, but the goldfish/koi aren't so far away that you forget to feed them :). I'm not sure if anything I described makes sense. But sort of like a "mini" version of the homepage picture of this company? But the utility boxes are hidden/camoflauged under fake-hallow-stones about where the purple bush on the left is? petersonslandscape.com/koi-pond/ As for size, something modest like this almost, but with a natural "run" of water/waterfalls? www.pinterest.com/pin/49610033378571680/ It would be so cute =)

3:55-4:14 Ideas: How about cone shaped Holly’s for the four corners? Low maintenance, interesting leaf structure with deep green color, and birds can feed on winter berries. Stone wall completion….can you draw it out or make a computer model of different looks? As for green water/electric boxes: Please choose plants or rectangle containers that can be easily worked around or moved when major maintenance has to be done.

Idea: the 3 small arb trees you got with all the boxwoods from garden center, would they work at the square intersection of the brick paths where you stood the arbor? Kind of making two matching 'doorways' to the different spaces.
