Brick Staining/Blonde to Gray

One last question! Is there a certain paint sprayer that'll be best for spraying stain? I have one but unfortunately it's for paint but it requires one bucket for water to thin it out and another for the paint. I don't know if I should thin out the paint, but I'm assuming no? I m going with a solid stain. What do you guys recommend?

The concrete stains all show solid stains. Are you thinning out yours to get this transparent look?

We are in Estero Florida. We do not want the brick to be painted but still have multiple colors coming through so believe you’re staying is the perfect solution. If we spray elephant gray on our reddish tan bricks will we have readthrough of the current colors? Thank you

Hi again!! What Kind of prep work do you do before staining? I am planning on pressure washing it and letting it dry. I saw that another KZbinr was getting it slightly wet before staining it, do you recommend that?

Good afternoon! Pressure washing really good and letting it dry out is a great way to prep. I would not recommend applying the stain while the brick is wet. You want the stain to fully penetrate and if your brick is wet the coverage may be uneven.

This is a Behr Masonry/concrete stain from Home Depot. I recommend using a sprayer.

We use Behr Masonry Stain from Home Depot. Hope that helps

Great question, stain is different than paint because paint will change the esthetic of the bricks by filling in little gaps and crevices. Paint is not breathable so it has a tendency to peel off of brick. Stain is thin and breathable so it will not peel and will not change the esthetic of the brick.

Do you need more than one coat. How long will it last?

These types of stains will work with one coat, you can apply a second coat if it is not solid enough for your liking. If you want a semi-solid look, I recommend one coat. Two or more coats may look painted instead of stained. The product I used has a one year warranty from Behr. The stain should last much longer than that, it really depends on the moisture content in your brick.

Hi Daisy, you don’t want to use just any stain. Find a product that specifically states it’s made for brick, concrete, or masonry.
