100% agree with everything you said. As someone that works for an Architect and designs custom houses I was really looking forward to the Twilight house set. Just viewing the content online something feels off with the revealed set compared to the original submitted idea. I don't know if the top level is too squished, the exterior looks very flat, trees also looked great in the submitted set (similar to A-frame). and was the piano always in the garage? I see why they did that but I would have rathered a full garage, I guess if we wanted something scaled to a full house like Home Alone we would also be looking at a higher cost.. but this just feels off to me for a $280 CAD price.

I just jumped over to see what light the Fan Media reveal had to add and the designer Laura said that the house and interior of the movie set changed from film to film. They have tried to stay true to the films rather than the actual real-life house. That said, I still agree with your initial impressions of this. But watch Laura's presentation and you can see from her body language that this real house vs film adaptation problem caused a lot of suffering. She's still obviously very proud and excited.

I agree with everything you said in this video. I have been anxiously awaiting this set for the last 13 months and found myself somewhat deflated when I saw the images. I remain hopeful, but I have to wait until after the actual build for my final analysis. I’m really hoping to be pleasantly surprised!
@dicloniusgames21 сағат бұрын
One of the few complaints I have after seeing the final images is the missing characters like the rest of the Cullen family and Victoria & James. I do agree too that the final version does look a tad basic vs. the Ideas submission. I still want to get it because I have plans for a pop culture shelf and this would be considered pop culture in my opinion. Even if it would've driven up the price another $20-$40, having the entire family and the two main antagonists in the first film would've brought the set to life a bit more and given it more playability & scene creation.
@bloodymarvelous479020 сағат бұрын
The original submission only had four characters, so LEGO expanded on the fan designer's design already. I understand everybody wants every character from the movie, but 7 minifigs in a $220 set is not lacking in the slightest.
@dicloniusgames17 сағат бұрын
@@bloodymarvelous4790 To me it's more about authenticity. Even if we only got Victoria & James and not the rest of the family and they found a way to keep it at $220. I don't want the non-important characters, just give me Victoria & James (maybe there'd be a way to custom build them after the set's released with other released minifig parts. That way they're in the set even if not officially in it, you know?)

I must admit (as someone who likes Twilight) it feels like Lego cut corners and cheaped out. I even get the impression that the re-designer did not enjoy adapting this set. 1) The full Cullen family isn’t even there; at least have the mom lol 2) Skin tones aren’t correct, just…nougat. 3) Expressions off; even Bella, the running joke of her having the expression of a Lego brick, is somehow off. Blank expressions, kissy faces, angsty faces, anything…a default smiley face is all wrong. 4) Stickers for a $200+ set? 5) House size and brown colors look off…the atmosphere of a rainy place is gone. 6) Jacob’s werewolf form looks terrible. Down there with the Dreamzzz 3-1’s. I’m still buying it…preordered. It’s not like they’ll ever release another Twilight set, but it’s a disappointment. Hope it looks better in person. I’d honestly prefer they delay it and fix it up, but that’s unlikely at this stage.

I watched Twilight for the first time last year. The model looks so out of place on the uniform 18+ black box with that cheesy spotlight behind it. The color palette should have been much darker. Part of the fun of the original movie is that over-the-top Y2K emo/goth aesthetic. I bet the designers and builders of the set would have a lot of more with it if it retained some of that identity in the build and graphic design.
