Bricklink Tip - Using your phone to choose which Lego sets to buy for Bricklink & Brickowl
In a recent video, I gave my tips on the four key things to check when deciding whether to buy a Lego set for part out on Bricklink or Brickowl. In that video, I promised a follow up on how to do this efficiently when out in the field looking at discounted sets where a quick decision is so important.
So here it is. In this video, I show you my method for using my iPhone to make the decision process as quick and effective as possible. My method uses Apples Shortcuts app to create and use automated actions which follow the same processes I demonstrated in the previous video.

My head exploded. I can use my iPhone for something useful for once. 🤯 ... Recreated your shortcuts and trying to come up with more use-cases. Im pretty new to the Bricklink store business. From your experience, which Part-Out-Value is more significant? The "6-month average" or the "Current Items for sale avg" Greetings from Brazil.

I definitely go with the 6 month sales rather than the current "dor sale". With the later its often inflated by some who price vey high whereas the 6 mth sales is actual sales.

This video is awesome, just got my iPhone 8 this week, so your video came just in time. I did set up the LEGO set checker shortcut just after watching it! What I didn’t get to work is the last option, how do you get the full link for parts in your inventory?

Glad this is working for you. The last part can be found in the Inventory section. Use the option to see parts from set.

Brick Arena my problem is that the url on the my inventory gets trimmed after .asp so that the filter options don’t show.

I might have missed it in your videos, buy how do you work out postage costs, and do you have a deal with the local postal service?

Postage costs are all based on weight bands and are auto determined at checkout. You get a little discount for online postage but very minimal.

I already have “Bricklink Part Out” url on my homepage, but how do I set this up as a shortcut? I like how you can tap “part out” in shortcuts and it pops up with a box for the set number. I've been considering opening a bricklink store myself. Currently watching KZbin videos so I get the best information before I make the decision to start or not. The only thing that worries me is how long does the bricks stay sat on the shelf. As a full set is more likely to sell quicker than parting it out. Does bricklink or a 3rd party website like with keepa for amazon track how often an item sells?

There is no doubt about it, some parts will sit and take longer to sell. So I would say its a longer game than selling sealed sets and keep in mind it takes a lot more time and effort. You have to spend the time to separate into parts, then when you sell it you have to pick those individual parts.

What app do you need to get the first "Scripting" option, as it doesn't come up when I search for it in Shortcuts

Hytale Reviews when you get into editing a shortcut, it says apps, favorites, scripts etc. on scripts you get the option ask for input (don’t know what it’s called in English, you click on that, enter the question you want to ask for input and then move further

Its just an Ask command, but be sure to set it to number in the options. It will default to text.
