For the train, what I think you should do is add walls to the end of the train tracks and use rubber caterpillar tracks (if those exist for Lego) to grip on the bottom of the trains. Then use a slow motor to make the train slowly go clockwise from one end to the tracks to the other, but give to motor a switch, that way it can turn on or off. Add another motor to make the track go counterclockwise, so it can go to the other direction. It would work even better if you extended the track.
