This is a really good example of how torque can bend a frame in a vehicle or equipment. Essentially if whatever you're trying to move, or destroy had a greater strength than the engine powering it, it will loose poer like the first gears and do nothing. But without the proper reinforcement all that torque will bend, or break the frame. It needs to be an equal balance of torque to strenth otherwise it will break. A strong frame needs a strong engine. If the frame is to weak the engine will destroy it. If the engine is too weak, it will barely move, or power the item or equipment
@hazel5092Ай бұрын
This is why it’s hillarious (and depressing)to mechanics like me to see alpha chad guys break their cars via putting a fkn truck engine in it or smth (truck as in utility vehicle not an SUV like what the F150 is) The axles and drive shaft will not survive long, and I have seen bent frames on older cars from engine mods, becuz the engine is rotating with such force that the differential just melts, and then the axle bends the hind part of the frame because the engine litteraly pushes it (the axle)against the chassis with all the force it’s got
@ailurusfulgens184927 күн бұрын
Well basically it's just that if your engine can't turn your wheel/roller/whatever around its axel it'll try to turn your frame around instead.

Because the shredder was poorly designed. How is it possible for a piece of paper and a paper shredder to have so much personality, I feel like I'm watching a slapstick cartoon lol
@ImevulАй бұрын
Instead of running stuff att different speeds so the paper tears, I think it would be more effective to have just one set of gears at the same speed, that do not engage their teeth to the other row of gears, but where the size difference is greater. Alternating big-small-big-small, and then inverted on the opposite side. Basically, shredders usually work more like grippy scissors. They do also bite into the material more, but you can't easily achieve that with the smooth edges of a lego gear.
@moot-b8bАй бұрын
They did that already in part 1
@ImevulАй бұрын
@@moot-b8b I rewatched part 1 because I could not remember that being the case, and no, they did much of the same mess of gears as in this video. The only time they got close to anything resembling alternating sized gears in part 1 (close to the end) was the only time it actually did anything useful. And then they effectively only did 1 alternating gear, not the entire row.
@BrickExperimentChannelАй бұрын
I tested some big-small-big-small gear setups (not on video), like alternating 24-tooth and 8-tooth gears. They don't work well because of the gaps between the gears. Paper just slides through the gaps. But, using new blue 20-tooth gears (69779) you can mesh two rows very tightly, the gears rubbing against each other's sides. See in this image brickexperimentchannel.files.wordpress.com/2024/10/paper_shredder_blue_gears_prototype.jpg That does work in cutting the paper into long stripes. But you still need to cut the stripes into smaller pieces, so you need more drum pairs anyway.
@xferth27 күн бұрын
@@BrickExperimentChannel I wonder if it would be more effective to have both top teeth and bottom teeth run at the same gear ratio rather than 5-1 and 25-1 or is it just to prevent it clogging?

1. Simply folds the paper 2. Cuts the paper with holes, but with no effect on reading. 3. (upgraded) The shredder only shredded some parts. 4. The same effect as 3. Some parts were shredded, some werent. 5. This time, the shredder had a literal gearbox, but you with a higher gear ratio, it was simply way slower- NEVERMIND! The shredder worked well! It could destroy multiple papers easily before clogging due to its gear structure, catching in the paper. 6. Shredder had big enough pieces to read them out. 7. A slow but perfectly working shredder, even barely able to survive 2 papers at once. It also made the cut pieces finally unreadable.

If I had to guess, this is really difficult because paper has pretty high strength when pulled apart, but cutting or ripping it is really east. Your machine is essentially trying to stretch the paper until it breaks, which takes a whole lot of force. It takes something around 50lbs of force to pull a sheet of paper in half. You need something that will cut the paper rather than stretch it until it breaks. I think trying alternating technic beams that cross each other at a very small angle (think kid's scissors) could do the job. Creating that mechanism would be compilated though. The square edges of the beams might offer a bit more cutting power than the dull gear teeth.
