Love all your work! - thank you for sharing! - wonder if by chance you’d know a different place to get the 650 piston rings
@BrickHouseBuilds Жыл бұрын
There is a Canadian seller on ebay who has them. If you simply search "gl650 piston rings" they will come up

What were the piston ring end gaps supposed to be? Truly appreciate these videos, this will make my current build much less of a struggle.🙌
@BrickHouseBuilds3 жыл бұрын
That I don't recall off the top of my head. You can find the service manuals digitally on the cxforum or cx Facebook pages. Sorry I can't help more

just curious as why you went with stock pistons and rods, great built.

There are no aftermarket options available

Great informative tutorial. I used it to build my CX engine. I noticed you used washers on your socket head bolts. Do you find it doesn't chip the paint if you do that?
@BrickHouseBuilds Жыл бұрын
Oh man chipping paint is a never ending battle. I always prefer washers and yes thats partly why

Where did you get the conrod bearings for this guy? Those 650 conrod bearings are unobtainium!
@BrickHouseBuilds Жыл бұрын
I reused them as they were in good shape, micd out good, and yes...cant find any
@kurtlynch Жыл бұрын
Where are you getting your rod berings I've looked all over. Also the piston rings?
@BrickHouseBuilds Жыл бұрын
I had to reuse the rod bearings. The rings I should have linked

Sorry if I missed it, but what assembly lube do you use?
@BrickHouseBuilds3 жыл бұрын
No worries. I just use a basic high moly content engine assembly lube from any auto parts store

Is little crank walk normal after installing the crank on that motor?
@BrickHouseBuilds2 ай бұрын
There will be crank thrust on any engine. I believe there is a spec for it but I don't know how much by memory
@ColbyRasplicka2 жыл бұрын
Where did you say you got the piston rings? You said a guy off eBay in Canada? Do you have a link to his store?
@BrickHouseBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Here is a link to an active listing of his www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-CX500-GL500-Piston-Rings-x2-Sets-STD-Standard-Silverwing-13011-415-003-/363704128737?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

How many miles would that engine have done befor the rebuild ?
@BrickHouseBuilds Жыл бұрын
I do not known the mileage it had before I got it which is why I tore it down. Being a customer bike I needed to be able to give him piece of mind and a clean starting point
@gabefoster86203 жыл бұрын
Where can i find these? Its unavailable everywhere! Tryna rebuild my gl 650 and reatore it but no parts are available anywhere
@BrickHouseBuilds3 жыл бұрын
Which parts specifically? I linked where I get the bulk of my parts in the description. Beyond that it is simple exhaustive searching.

the amount of assambly grease is too much better change the oil right away
@BrickHouseBuilds Жыл бұрын
I'm sure if I used less there would be the same comment saying it was not enough. Engine is fine and not my first engine rebuild.
