The best explanation! I’m a drafter and love detailing so this really helps to clarify some doubts. I usually use your website for masonry details for my drawings, but this makes it much more understandable. Thanks for the video!

Flashing above a door would be exactly the same as above a window. Door jamb frames are typically different than window jambs so the water resistant barriers may be done differently next to a door, but the same requirements to keep water out will be the same.

What is the product name of the membrane used in this video? I'm having trouble finding a non-adhesive flashing like what is used. Great video, thanks.

Gene W There are many different flashing products on the market. A brick distributor in your area would be able to recommend a product that best fits your needs.

Excellent ideas, But the problem would be locating a mason or any other tradesmen for that matter, that took enough pride in his workmanship, as well as true concern for the customer & that customer's long term maintenance in the home. Sadly most care little & the poor level of craftsmanship, often doesn't reveal its evil head til many years later, then you realize the mason, the carpenter, the roofer, all took short cuts, or didn't do the work in the manner you were told or expected, now you as the homeowner are stuck with costly repair costs, much higher than the original installation costs, plus the cost of the damage caused by their inferior work! A true American tradesmen, is a rare Breed, indeed! ( it is for this reason, and mostly this reason, Mexican laborers can come here, learn the skills necessary ( or many already know) to do masonry, electrical, plumbing, framing, roofing, etc... Because they will work harder, faster & believe it or not, generally smarter, Even with a possible language barrier! Sadly I've seen this in many trades, such as framing or trim carpentry, or brick work , Were 3-4 Mexican would easily out perform 5-6 American workers on the same type job, often side by side comparison!
