Love it when the courses of blues are done at the bottom - does this aid stopping the bricks blowing above as they’re stronger?

How wet should the mortar be and how do you stop mortar being pushed out as the pillar goes up? I’ve tried a fairly dry mix but I can only build 4 levels before mortar is pushed out of the joints? I’m a DIY and building piers along a garden wall. Any advice appreciated
@andrewbeange93782 жыл бұрын

2:47 open joints should all be full as you lay them. Now you need to go o back and fill them all when tooling.

Tell me, would you not build the end pillars then set up 2 string lines for the intermediate pillars. I realise that a level would still be necessary
Why didn’t you do one at each end then run a line down both side. Could of been abit quicker. Top work though mate really neat

I’d crack a good 800 down on the wall, doing the piers on your own is a mistake ( big mistake ) 1 pier each( two ends) 1 each side running in! So much time is lost moving about, IZZY you are tidy enough but taps and scrapes are costing you a fortune

Don't want brick to push with joint put full joint then dent center with trowel tip. Never leave the front open. Looks like crap if owner or inspector was watching. Extra time to fill and it's never as clean as when to have to repoint. You filled from top and it ran out the joint onto face brick. Average bricklayer should drop 300 in piers like that in 7 hr. excellent bricklayer over 500.
