Hi Rodian. You deserve way more subs and views mate. You're an awesome teacher. You put a lot of effort in, explain really well and keep it real. Thanks a lot mate. My son will hopefully will be starting Construction level 1 in september and i know these vids will be excellent for him. Have you thought about getting in touch with colleges to show them your vids etc? I'm sure the staff and students would appreciate it especially in this lockdown (no lessons for them until september). I watch an old guy (60+) called Mike Haduck from Pennsylvania. He's very good. Straightforward, no nonsense. He teaches/explains whilst he's on the job. Sometimes he goes around to historical places/buildings and shows you what he thinks about the way they were built. He's been to his local college as a guest lecturer and visited a couple of masonry shows/conferences as well (showed a bit of the latest tools, materials and methods like stamped concrete. I don't know if we have anything like that in the UK. That's Americans for you, LOL). Anyway, just throwing it out there. Thanks again for what you're doing.

In Germany you would leave the lengthwise split bricks away and start every stretcher course with a 3/4 brick, just cut or hammer off 1/4 in length. then it would be the "Blockverband" (something like block bond). But you also learn that the "Kreuzverband" i think its crossbond in english is stronger, because when you take every second stretcher course and put a head right after the three quarters you get the stretchers with a half brick offset which distributes the loads better. Not that anyone would care, but i thought i might as well share my aprenticeship knowledge with who ever wants to read this...xD
@iekuieku15364 жыл бұрын
Also if your peer (? i mean the thing on the left side if the corner is right) would be 3 heads wide instead of 4, what would you for the stretchers? only thing that comes into my mind ist 2 x 3/4 on the outer courses and a 3/4 plus a full brick to tie into the right hand wall. but i see even with the 4 bricks wide thingie you get cross joints. that would be a no go in germany, even if the thingie is 2m x 2m xD

We use this bond on new manhole for northumbrian water,I'm not a bricklayer but try to do a tidy job.any tips when you have to show the inside of brickwork rather than the outside?
@tonyclark25544 жыл бұрын
Yeah tips on keeping things clean and tidy are , keep bricks dry , don’t use mortar that’s too wet ( cream cheese type of consistency) only point it up when it’s dry to the touch , and when pointing , the dryer the gear the less it smear.
@jonathandixon84564 жыл бұрын
In man holes you should use water bond which is very similar to English bond .
@RodianBuilds4 жыл бұрын
The only tip others havent mentioned is to pay more attention to plumbing up the internal corners than the exterior corners. Hopefully that is of some help 🤙🏼🧱

@neilgroves14 жыл бұрын
Tell me one thing,,, I have bless him, now 89 been married now 61 years mum is 2 years older, my Dad was like u, started bricklaying the hard way, night school etc etc back then, so old school ways!!! when we both built our Very big double garage, off the footings we ran a heading course of sand and lime(white bricks as u know) all the way round 2 courses I think it was at the time if I remember?? then just 1/2 brick wall for the rest of it... u didn't bother, or do u think this is just a waste of time. Although the crush strength is very high on those ie. very strong, Dad said this is the best way to go then obviously 1/2 brick set in the middle of the heading course> Regards Neil

Morning! After another sleepless night and numerous hours watching clips n vids from people I have come to the conclusion that the other bloke ( stu) who pops his stuff on line really doesn’t need more followers and to be honest I think he’s a bit of a blow his own trumpet type of fellow ( This is just my opinion haters , ) and I presume that the majority of his work comes from his channel ( fair play to that ) so why don’t you do the same thing ? Show people what they need !!! PEACE
@RodianBuilds4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, we all have those nights where we get sucked into the KZbin feed 🤣 To answer your question, I dont want to copy what others are doing, I want my channel and videos to evolve along with my creative ideas without outside influence. This is the major reason I dont watch any other bricklaying or construction videos on youtube (to the point where I've blocked any construction content from being shown in my feed). I find my inspiration from the most random thoughts I have and places I go. What might work for one youtuber might not work for another. Maybe it's just me but I find KZbin to be an incredible creative outlet where I can express my ideas however I want and if I copied someone else I would, in my mind, have failed before I've even started. Hopefully that answered your question 😁🤙🏼🧱
