Great videos! Very much appreciate your time. Question for you; when you measure two bricks in height, you say “fifteen hundred” Do you mean one hundred and fifty? Thanks C

Thanks man! Noob here, gonna try my first 4 pillars soon. Will keep in mind the good and bad stuff you showed. Can you make a vid about how to put a wooden beam across two pillars for a simple shade roof? Stay well!

You mention about perp sizes. I too prefer the look of a tighter perp. But what are you supposed to do if the bricks are coming up short? I have just bought 1000 bricks but they’re all about 5mm shorter than standard. Should I keep a 10mm or keep to standard brick length?

Your motivation is gone. But you can help others by talking about what you're going through and even if you just load some blocks and go back inside, then do that. If you only lay 5 blocks or 2 or 3 pavers, then do that. It's because you are doing it for you that you're not motivated. But you're not just doing it for you because there are other people in the same boat and one of you has to be the first to force yourself. I've been in a similar situation but when there was an emergency and I was asked for help, I went fully functional and so will you.

The UK building regs stipulate that the concrete has to be minimum 225mm below dpc, not 150mm. The 150mm requirement is dpc to external ground level.

Limestone dust, wood ash, mix it, boil it, filter it, reduce the water, and keep repeating, and the dust is quick lime. Due to osmosis, the basic composition should allow the minerals to seep into the surrounding area, creating a solid mineral deposit.

Hi mate, I want to level my front garden and need some advise. Currently I have a rectangle section that butts against the neighbours side this section is 1.5ft higher than the rest of my garden. I want to get rid of this soil so I can park my car on either side of a pebble front drive/garden once I level it. Would you recommend a small retaining wall? Or would it be ok to use concrete fence posts and a gravel board? Online it's saying all sorts. Also for a 1.5ft or 2ft wall what would you recommend? You have any such videos. Thank you.

Yeh it’s much better to partial fill the cavity as you say rather than getting damp bridging…im really surprised that building regulations allow full fill cavity! It’s bound to get damp after a period of time! The wall ties I just thought it changed due to the water dripping off in the middle with the drip notches nothing else …

Realest tip is about the line etiquette, probably the number 1 thing you start to notice laying with others, the longer the wall and tbe more masons, the more you notice and the more important not fiddling with it becomes, laying brick in Houston and one of the older guys has the habit of moving the line out to spread and it can really get on your nerves on a wall with 5 or 6 masons, you have to learn to read the joints and not wait for the line to come back and it leads to less even bed joints, its normal and acceptable to give the 'banjo' one 'stum' every now and again if the line is reading higher or lower than you expect, or you suspect the position changed due to geting hung up on something, brick, another perpendicular line, lineblock or pole running perpendicular, plumb line or a bit of mortar, but Id say its not necessarily every course you need to do pop or check the line, just good to be aware to move it as little as possible to not slow other masons down or worse move a twig so the line reads slightly out

Rodian. I was not ready for this. I first watched you during lockdown days and although I had no garden to practice, I kept watching for a while. I said to myself when I get a house I'll go back to that brickie who does the videos and learn because I like him. I'm now back and I've not cried like this for years, actually since my grandad died of cancer. I can't tell you how sorry I am. I know it probably won't mean much from someone off KZbin, and you probably have your people, but if you ever need to vent or need a hand with something I swear I'd be more than happy to help. Hope you are doing well buddy and again I'm so sorry. The video of you two was just perfect.

OR your radius of 515 mm x2 = a diameter 1030 mm x 3.142 = 3.236.26 divided by 2 = 1.618.13 , and its not a voussoir arch it's an axed arch as the joint's are wedge shaped , you are correct on finding the angle first on any given arch .
