The rogue shadow; the rotating landing mechanism, the room inside, deployable landing gear, the unique neat technic launcher feature, the storage panel for figure accessories, all on top of being just a good looking and good sized model(not too big, not too small.)

It’s sad because the Indiana Jones set has play features and is meant for adults but the Star Wars sets made for kids has no play features

I have seen Landon of Brick Legends make an amazing _Ninjago_ Diorama MOC which depicts the first pilot episode of the show - specifically, the scene where Wu trains Kai in the art of Spinjitzu through the training course. What I love about that Diorama MOC is that Landon went out of the way to integrate a simple play feature where there is a gear system that allows the training course's obstacles to spin at the twist of a knob! That is a great example of how to add play value to a diorama.

Love the vid. Definitely wish people gave the Indiana jones set more attention, everything about it is brilliant. I don’t think play is completely dead; the ghost has the cool stud shooter play feature and the t-6 spins.

I enjoy your content and sympathize with your argument - however, I think a more convincing case could be made by using sets that LEGO has actually remade with less play features (perhaps like the AT-TE, Gunship, X-Wings, etc.) as opposed to speculating about “if this set was remade, it would have less play features”, though I get the impression this was made with the intent to showcase the secondhand LEGO stores’ sets. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

The only play features we see nowadays are stud shooters and spring-loaded shooters. I always like players that have some sort of catapult for your figures. One of my sets, the Toy Story Woody’s Round Up, has one of those catapults. It’s pretty fun.

Nice video man i agree with all of this, play is important for adults too! And this is also why I have stopped buying new lego sets, now I only buy old retired sets. I kind of feel bad for little kids today

I have so many good display sets and playability sets but I think the Indians Jones escape from the lost tomb has some really fun play features I would love if I was a little kid and first starting out with Lego. I'm so exited though because im might get the Lego T. rex escape diorama wich isn't Star Wars but looks like such a fun build and looks super cool.

I would like if they had options for both play and display. As a young child I never like the stud shooters on all the clone war sets and didn’t have many pieces to improvise better looking guns. It really can’t be hard for them to add a option of play or display in the instructions for these small features. Just an idea tho

A scene that I'd love to see from star wars is Anakin blowing up the Lucrehulk in Episode 1. A large playscale model of a lucrehulk with liftable panels on the ring to show the inside: hitting a target inside via a launcher on a small scale N1 side-build would cause its central sphere to fall off somehow(ideally with a mechanism to lock it in place for stability's sake.) Would love the inside of the sphere to also be modeled after the control room we see the nemodians and their security droids in. Have some gun turrets on the back that can swivel and shoot, and landing gear that can deploy from the central detachable core. Could also include some other small interiors on the arm with scenes from Episode 1, like obiwan and qui-gon in the conference room with TC-14. An alternative is Mar Tuuk's lucrehulk from the clone wars TV show. Could be one of those large play sets with smaller battle-damaged venator that, when crashing into the central sphere, causes the arms to fall off. Include an escape pod inside the venator to fit Anakin and R2 in that would launch out the back when a pressure switch on the nose of the venator is pressed. Have some movable turrets both ships, model lucrehulk's interior off of Mar Tuuk's bridge having him, a tactical droid, and a few battle droids as figures. Finally, for the lucrehulk itself, some micro-scale vulture droids in the arms to play around with, maybe give them tiny stud-shooters. The latter would make a fantastic $170-$200 playset in particular.

I don't think Lego is interested in making playsets with playfeatures. Kids don't care about playfeatures when picking the set, and adults ofent complain about them compromising a set. Don't get me wrong, I love play features, they're fun and charming, but in era of models getting more and more compact, I just can't see designers going out of their way to incorporate some sort of mechanisms into already shrinking space. Themes like Ninjago has privilige of not being based on anything, so sets can have weird gimmicks. But Star Wars sets are very much based off of things. Hell, I vaguely remember Jang defending sand speeder, because at realese it wasn't exactly beloved.

I agree with many things you said in the video, but I find that the gimmick on palpatine's shuttle makes the ship look very bad from the back, and the space is very cluttered on the inside. It would have been better to have a bacta tank and extra space for other minifigures. Its a shame because its a very impressive ship with an amazing design that is penilized by one gimmick that detracts from the looks and functionality of what would be an awesome set.

Bricks and mini figs is like the GameStop of lego, high prices and terrible trades. A cool store and is nice for the novelty of seeing old sets on shelves but for buying old lego your best bet is online.

Ok I'm going to say this, it may have some bias but I miss flick fire missiles I thought they were fun as a kid, also I lose them less then the spring shooters and I may have shot someone in the eye with a spring shooter before.

Thank you. This is my number one gripe about modern Lego Star Wars sets. They look so damned good that people don’t want to risk them being broken by playing with them, aren’t encouraged to modify them, and generally speaking get furious if a detail is wrong. Go check out the first wave of Star Wars sets from around 2000. They were terrible by modern standards. But they all had alternate models on the back and had play features.

Great video! One of my favorites from the Star Wars line was the 2017 Y-Wing... loved dropping the bombs with that knob on the rear of the ship. Definitely agree that newer sets should prioritize fun features alongside a pretty design!

I feel this has been a major problem for Star Wars recently because of adult fan demand. Alot of fans have high demands for accuracy and detail. So Lego has come to the conclusion that fans don't want toys, they're wanting buildable display models, but they still need to add in some play features for kids. Of course there are multiple reasons, it's not just one thing. But I feel this is the biggest reason. The Lego star wars community is very loud and can get very rowdy.

@@brickmasterharri Yeah. LEGO is fun and addicting. I’m an AFOL so I can never get enough LEGO Star Wars. My only issue is that LEGO has had to raise prices to keep up with customer demand. The last expensive set I ever bought myself was my Clone Turbo Tank; which I got in 2017 just after it was retired. I had prime at the time and paid $120 USD for the set plus a few older gen LEGO Star Wars sets included.
