I understand the stress he faces, but we are here to follow Jordan’s vision. We may offer advice, or see something that we think could be made better, but at the end of the day we enjoy whatever he decides to do. What we truly enjoy most, even if all viewers don’t recognize it, is Jordan’s work ethic, humbleness and leadership on how to be a good family man. KZbinrs are often the anti-celebrity. Just normal people, sharing the talents that make them unique and special.

@@VaughnLowerthat's one thing I like about him, humble and down to earth etc, there is a lady lego youtuber I can't exactly remember her channel name but she also has a city, I can not stand her, it always seems like she's almost bragging in a way of oh look at this big haul, and other things kinda in a entitled way. This is the first time you’re experimenting with these buildings, of course other people might have done it differently, but that’s the whole point, this is your artistic process and about you learning what you like the look of. I think it’s inspiring that you enjoy what you’ve made.

I follow a lot of Lego City KZbinrs, and what I notice most is the “sameness” of all the cities - official Lego city modulars tiled together with similar looking roads. You could take a close up picture of most Lego cities and you would have trouble telling which city belongs to whom. Customizing the modulars is a great first step to making your city stand out from most of the other Lego city channels. Keep up the great work.

You know what? I thought the result of this expanded police station was a bit flat across the front when you first showed it complete. It felt a bit lifeless. But then you placed it in the city and it totally works. I think one of your more subtle talents is the ability to imagine what the model will look like in context, rather than just what it looks like when you build it on your desk. I also think your attitude towards the negativity is spot on. Keep up the great work and thank you for the always entertaining videos!

As a plus, the un-recessed Doughnut Shop and City Press add even more square studdage than otherwise. With most lots being filled in Brickmonton, every stud is highly valued. Though the City Press guy COULD maximize his use of the second floor, LOL.

Do NOT give into that negativity. You are building MOC's with existing pieces! you are dealing with design limits that people often forget about. I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE the enlarged police station. My only critique of the donut shop is the color...well that's how it came and you did a great job with the actual design so there! I'm a fan of these builds and like honestly...if you look at the way cities are built...most buildings...maximize available floor space....your designing in such a way that is closer to reality. when you show the buildings in context of you city...your city DOES LOOK MORE realistic...more true to life. It just does. So great job. keep this up.

Just dropping down to the comment section to leave a note that I think your customizations to the modulars are fantastic, add to the commanding feel of the fronts, and boost the detail. Love the look of these 3 buildings together. Having the last building set back 2 studs is a great compromise. The buildings are also 3 different heights. Not a huge difference but still there. The blue slopes on the back roof look like covered-up windows. Actually a great realistic detail! Excited to hear you have 3.5 baseplate ready to redevelop. Get it all opened up at once and rebalance the city, leaving yourself space, maybe for a taller tower. Or a row of buildings with 2, 3, 4, 5 story, some set back different depths.

Jordan, I really Iike what you and Simon did. It looks a little flat, but not bad at all, and a lot of city blocks do have the fronts of the stores lined up so that the sidewalk width stays consistent. Don't listen to the naysayers. These look awesome and are unique to your city which makes them even better. I agree with you that the small side buildings seen with the current modulars are often just too small to really make much sense or have proper detailing. These buildings look much more appropriate in size, allow more storytelling, and use LEGO for it's intended purpose of getting creative with them. Keep up the good work.

I was doing my dishes while watching and had to do a double take when you said people hated the donut shop. What?! I guess I could agree that insetting the smaller buildings would look more interesting, but in most real life city blocks, that isn’t the case, so it’s definitely not necessary. And yeah, you could build some buildings upward, but does that make sense for any of these 3? I don’t think so. I’m flabbergasted by that feedback. AND, as someone who has experimented with using sets to build MOCs a couple of times, you’re doing the advanced version of what I do. (Like, you’re doing the high school version and I do the first grade version, lol.) So I’m just left wondering if these critics have ever tried doing anything like this. I would guess no. So, to sum it all up, don’t let those people get to you.

I'm so sorry that you receive negative comments (vs truly constructive feedback). I'm not sure why people are so negative. It really serves no purpose. I am happy that I found your channel when I started getting into LEGO as an Adult. I think that the clip you played (with LEGO Master Jamie) said it all - LEGO is meant to inspire creativity. It's one of the things that I truly love about LEGO. You can put your own spin on someone else's engineering genius to suit your style. I recently purchased the Cozy House and didn't like certain color choices and then realized I can just order the parts to swap out the colors to match the vibe I was going for. LEGO makes this such a fun thing to do. Not to mention, I learn new building techniques along the way. Most KZbin LEGO content creators don't even share the techniques they employ for the building process. You are one of the few who does so I applaud (and eagerly learn from) your videos. Keep up the positivity and providing inspiration. It's highly appreciated.

I like what you produce. You may do things in ways differently then I would, but that's part of the beauty of Lego. You mentioned that maybe you could have included the news stand, but I don't think that's needed for that building. You could use the collectible minifigure of the newsie kid out front with a stack of papers next to the door, hawking papers to people.

I actually didn't read many of previous comments so I'm not aware of the negative feedback. Yes, there are different opinions, but Lego is there exactly because we can rebuild anything on our on taste, so those who don't agree can build something different. One thing for sure. For me, you fixed one of the things bug me the most on some official modulars: that need to look more than one narrow building when it's actually one single building, like the Detective Office was, and like the Jazz Club is too. For me, they could omit the sand green area, and incorporate the cell and mugshot area into the tan area, and double the donut shop area like you did.

I think they look great. I recently built my own modular out of the City Grocery store from last year, the Fab 5 set and my inventory. It's a great experiance. One critique or note, the Bakery building feels like its missing just a small detail at the left and right on the roof. There's that element in the middle that adds height, but the left and right feel like they need something as well. Maybe another small curve with an egg at each side? I know the original had a small detail as well at each end.
