Dirtroads have pit as well, don't forget to sink a 2x2 plate 1 plate lower here and there or something like that 😊
@SchroederOutlaw525Ай бұрын
Just a suggestion because I see a small flaw in your river/creek. Both sides are coming from down hill in a loop, they needs to run to the main body of water in the front. From the glaciers to the ocean, water runs downhill. Cheers, keep up the great work!

Also forgot might be fun for viewer interaction. On certain things in the city, putting it up to a vote! This way viewers get to put in some input.

The large green pasture-like area looks great... a farm with farm land, some cattle and a few builds! Don't clutter it too much, emptiness balances out the congestion elsewhere in your city
@HaroldDanRАй бұрын
I hear you on not being able to see or appreciate all the finer details of the inside of the MILS plates, BUT I would argue good design is meant to obscure the functional in favor of aesthetics. Being able to make something so complex look so simple is a good thing!

Thank you for another fun and informative video. I love what you and Mrs. Bricksie did with the storage bins. They are going to look magnificent once you have them all completed. Great job! I also like the way you are creating your gravel roads. They look realistic. I love hearing your explanations and reasonings regarding how you are proceeding with each section of your City. I know it will look less professional but at least you’ll be able to see the “Skelton inside “of the plate.

@19:10 instead of having the whole width step up one plate at a time in a uniform way, I'd recommend stagger some of the 4x4 just to break up those lines. Would take less bricks later to add some extra bumpiness to the road.
@PleegWatАй бұрын
Definite agree with taking the dirt road up plate-by-plate. You can smooth it out further with greebling - more studs on the lower plate and more plates on the upper one.
@josephharrison5639Ай бұрын
I’ve been 3D printing haulers and garages for nascar diecasts and I asked the same question. The answer is keep going the more you work the system into your life the more natural it’ll become 10:03 what if you started your uphill at the bridge there make this side more gradual than the other side. Put the far end(far from city) at ground height with no ramp up. Cars can take a steeper slope than trains so the road slowly raising above the trains would look nice 12:57 it’s a gravel road they’re not known for being smooth
@MomentsOftheMagicАй бұрын
For the road, put the plate on a hinge to have it sit at an angle and then you can do the gravel on top of that😊
@erikmeltzer-rt7rhАй бұрын
What might be nice in the hilly countryside is a quarry. Essentially a big light blueish gray gash in the green. Couple of quarrymen, lorries, cranes ...

I agree you have the printers, and you go to the studio every day. Why not just have your standard boxes printing all the time. As long as you have the spool of plastic. It does just make sense, use the tech you have. I love all aspects of your studio!!

For the gravel road incline you could maybe use the round slopes on the edges of the step up. Depends how it would look though, you would still be able to add some of the studs to it
@mjdaniel4738Ай бұрын
You should make a couple of farm fields… at least one, with rows of a crop such as corn or something. Also an orchard with rows of trees.
@sapandesai961Ай бұрын
Instead of a plain green edge on the edge of the countryside, some rock panels as the height increases would help taper the country side to the edge of the city table and save you green bricks!
@Angrist17Ай бұрын
Even just brown and grey bricks on the edge would be fine. That'd look like the edge was just a vertical slide out of the ground.

I still think you should eliminate the road going between the zoo and the forest. Having the mountain tunnel as the only way to connect the two sides of the city seems more realistic. Maybe even add a little county train platform. Just some ideas. Keep up the great work 👍
@zoeys3346Ай бұрын
As a way to save some green pieces, use some grey along the road like natural outcroppings of rock. Roads are built immediately beside massive rocks all around where i live thanks to mountain roads and coal Mines. Just an idea!
@ShedCityBricksАй бұрын
I would probably also go for the staircase effect to elevate the dirt road, but maybe not make it so straight. Because now it really does look a bit like a staircase. I would mess around with the hight/position of the plates a bit more so you don't always have the harsh straight lines.
@sapandesai961Ай бұрын
Would love to see a lake in the mountains
@PaPasBricksАй бұрын
Just a thought, because you are elevating a lot of the country side/ mountain area you can run the train tracks throughout,maybe tunnels here and there, maybe go over small bridges over liver and thou the woods
@kill3rtravoАй бұрын
I would use those 1x2 modified plates with the technic pin hole on the bottom for the slopes. Allows you to customize the angle and still texture the top without the harsh cliffs every couple inches.
@13BC30Ай бұрын
I think if you go with the stacked plate approach for the roads it won’t look as odd once you cover it all with the detail. The rock/gravel will mask the height changes, especially from overhead angles. Plus you could stagger the edges with smaller 1x1/1x2 plates under the gravel detail
@fu3gАй бұрын
i like the idea of the creek having some variation in the width. sick video.
@Angrist17Ай бұрын
The elevation is really nice. The resulting grade is the kind of gradual incline we see all the time in the real world. It'll be interesting to see the curve with the rest of the wedge plates in place. Right now it looks like it goes from straight in one direction to straight in another with a sharp angle in between. Having a transition in wedge sizes and orientations should fix it right up though.

I think if you embed the road further when it meets the stream, it will look even more epic with the creek at the bottom, then the bridge over the creek, then the top of the mils plate

@heathkeefer4938Ай бұрын
I think you should try making your steps up less uniform. Also, you might try using train track to model the curves so your corners don't seem like a sharp 90° angle.
@christopherhayward2416Ай бұрын
Have your gravel road plate go up like your train track does on the front right of the city. Use a longer base plate that you put the detail on top of but with one side one plate higher than the other side.

I guess you really wanted Kevin's collection, one day you show us the new Brickbin and the next you show us Kevin's collection and somewhere in there we learn that Kevin did the graphics for the Brickbin and yet Kevin didn't sell his collection to them. Anyway I'm sure you will find a spot or use for it all. Loving the landscaping tutorials, this might just be the year that my Christmas village buildings do more than just sit on a baseplate. Well one of them at least.😂
@Krypto_BricksАй бұрын
12:35 I’d recommend just using plates at an angle to create the slope. You could use technic pins at the corners to “rotate” the plate down or up slope instead of them just resting loosely

Build a mine on top of the mountains
@chris-qw7nrАй бұрын
The gravel road on the incline try using cheese slopes of various colours on the edge of each rise up as the greebling, they may be smooth but your using a combination of stud, plate and 1*1 tile so it might look ok and not be as aggressive on the incline

If you have a concern for a mass amount of parts usage to achieve your depths you may want to meticulously plan out where you want all those areas of depth to be, so you can build them, add them in and then add wood structures around to then save on the amount of parts usage. Would probably take you a lot longer to get something down but i think it would help cost in the long run! :)
@JordanMeyer-gc4vvАй бұрын
For the gravel road could you use the netting element and sandwich it in between 1x1 or 1x2 plate?? Depending on tacking it down and underlying support you can get elevation and that "rolling effect" to the road and landscape. City looks great!

I think it would be awesome to use or implement a cave similar to the gem one you had at the house in the cove but it be imprinted in the mountain somewhere possible near the 7 dwarfs or atleast within a hiking distance you can have the dwarfs in the mine possible. I know it's still early days, but I'm a little concerned about how your landscaping is taking shape . . . A lot of the space between elevations is texture filled, but it runs along the plate edges in straight lines and right angles . . . You gotta break the square - especially in landscaping. Overall, it's a really fun project - love it!

Bricksie, can you clear in clear see true plastic? That way you can still see your bricks in their buckets. And if you now have several ocean explorer ships of the same type, think the new lego cargo ship, for a moment, but using those hulls. As for the country side, lets first see what for sets you have to work with, when you have all those new sets, added to you collection, right bricksie? And as for you grabbel road, think Eldorado Fortress it's ramp, Bricksie, that's your better third way, you know. That should let you create the hill to mountain ridge, boarder section, since if you really want a mountain ridge, then you are going to go quite steep in angle. O and as for your grabbel road, don't be afraid to create some dips and bumps, plus the tire track trails a true grabbel road has (two long line dips, thanks to wheels always going there). As for your A-frame lake, connect it to that river & make that river use-able for that canoe, meaning, make it wider, that way, that lake can be a harbor, for the A-frame.
