Those Vulcan against those elite crawlers reminds me of playing Starcraft 2 and destroying a Protoss that went Colossus with nothing but Zerglings. You gotta have enough low tier stuff before you get high tier stuff usually. The Stormcallers could have done it I think, but you'd need High-Explosive Ammo or Incendiary. And something to tie the crawlers up, I find Fangs to be the best cheap chaff unit. They're more durable than Crawlers, and won't run off and get themselves killed. In fact, Fangs seem like one of the best units in the game to me. They're like Terran Marines. They can reach a point where they destroy even their counters, unless the opponent was able to tech right. *Oh man... Bricky. Watching you group all of those Fangs like that hurt...It looks neat and organized, but it leaves them more vulnerable to aoes. And their placements often caused them to show up after other units (like Mustangs) already died. They're slow, but they're generally tankier than the Mustangs, and turning them the right way can cause them to survive longer vs aoes, or do higher damage in the situations where that is their goal instead.

1:26:17 , you had the upgraded overlord card for a few turns, and he could see it, so he knew it would be coming out eventually? Definitely sus as hell though, especially with his placement, though that was also where his vulcan was, so again, not too big of a stretch.

Oh that game was me, I wasn't stream sniping. My logic behind the melting point was definitely because he had improved overlords partly, but the main reason was so my Vulcan could get through that shield as fast as possible.

Melting points would help destroy any shields which was causing the Vulcan trouble in previous round, and would also counter whatever Bricky placed to help fight the Vulcan. Also means he'd have both crowd control and heavy single-target damage combo together on one side. Not sus at all I think, I would've done the same or something very similar in that players place.

In regards to the Armored Core discussion: I remember playing that game on PS2 and thinking that it was so cool. It just let you build your cool mech pretty much however you wanted! That said, I also gave up on it about half way through, not because it was too hard or had too much stuff to keep track of, but because for some reason the devs said "let's lock the controls so that you need to use R1/R2 to aim up and down."

Maybe because the original PS1 controllers didn't even have joysticks. They eventually fixed that in Nexus, which was also on PS2.

@@kamikeserpentail3778 I am pretty sure that PS1 controllers did have joysticks... Regardless, I just assumed it was for the same reason why Ape Escape used L2 for jump. Everyone was trying to figure out their own unique control scheme, hoping might somehow be better than everyone else's.

@@archer9480 the originals didn't, the dual shock controller did eventually come out for the PS1 though, so I'm not sure why they kept the L/R vertical aiming all the way into the PS2. Speaking of Ape Escape, we had a demo disk that had that, before we had controllers with sticks, so we could only stand there jumping and moving the camera. That's why I remember those controllers so certainly.

Man, I find it so funny how we have directly opposing opinions LOL. I absolutely despise Mustangs, I think they are one of the most useless units in the whole game. They can't do anything against armored units, boats or hordes (unless speced for them, at which point you build ANY air and the opponent has wasted a complete AA unit for the match). I ONCE lost to Mustang spam, because I didn't realize they can do splash. Anyone building Stangs just makes me happy now, lol. Just go long-range Vulcan so the enemy has a hard time sniping it and the Mustangs are hard countered. Wasps on the other hand.. man can they shred if you give them the right upgrades and they are level 2 or up. Hordes, Air, Ground they can fuck up anything. And they are flexible as all hell, because you can dynamically position them after you saw the battle play out. Something more people need to do! It's so funnyto see players lose a flank and there are some balls and crawlers left and somehow the solution is to counter some other units that didn't even make it to the end.

Mustangs are kind of just more expensive but faster Fangs. For their cost they're less durable, and have lower dps, but I can see some merit in using them specifically against air or as anti-missiles, with the upgrades.

The more I play it, the more I find pretty much every unit in the game feels overpowered in the right situation, and kind of garbage in the wrong situation. That to me is damn near the holy grail of balance

@@MrProthall Things other than input can lag. The game is poorly optimized and stutters all the time. Most noticable on the camera and unit movement. It doesn't affect the gameplay but it does drag the experience down quite a lot.

Mustangs are actually not that good, they are vulnerable to fire, acid, arclights, tanks, vulcans (but vulcans are themselves not a very good unit IMO). The last game could have been solved by getting some more stormcallers and giving them flame. And like 2 backline ranged phoenixes for the overlords. Wasps are great if you have a cunnin' plan or if you need air chaff, specifically.

match making has been wild lately. i played a 2v2 against some guys that were both over 7k. me and my partner were both sub 1k. we won somehow an it gave me damn near 2kcp. i cant win a fuckin match anymore. take it back please.

Arc lights just seem like straight trash. Can’t hit air, only counter really 2 units. Worthless agonist anything with armor. I feel like every time bricky builds or starts with one he loses

They counter crawlers and fangs on their own, mustangs with armour upgrade or a level advantage, and wasps with air targeting upgrade. With certain cards they can be insane as well. I don't think there are any straight-up garbage units, they're just all situational.

Yeah but early crawler counter is a pretty important role. They're also tankier than the other T1 units, against certain attack types, with the armor, which is cheap.

@@thorveim1174 you're definitely better off tanking with steal balls or sledges with armor overall, but circumstantially Arclights with armor can be used, especially when you consider they might be leveled up due to coming out earlier. I just think it can be difficult, if you've already invested in one thing, to justify abandoning it to use something else. If the enemy built a lot of crawlers early and you had a lot of Arclights, and then they start spamming wasps, it may be better to just get the anti-air upgrade rather than try to tech to and upgrade something else.
