honestly the VA for fra is so fuckin good; how he can say such nonsense with such confidence that you actually can almost glean what he's trying to say, i have no clue. listening to it feels like having a stroke lmao

27:30 There is a condition called fluent aphasia, when people seems well and active, but when they speak they are speaking random words that didn't create a context of a thought. Pitches and tones are ok, their brain just have trouble peaking the correct words for a meaning and didn't hear any problems with the result. And I wish it would explain some people I hear talking, but it's too rare to be that common.

Isn't...isn't the whole backstory of that guy that he is an actual alien that sneaked in with the NASA astronauts coming down from the moon, or am I completely missing it? The interogation audio file seems to hint at it.
@IlyaKokoev11 ай бұрын
@@TheLaur200 Yes, it's an alien organism that convinced astronauts that there were 4 of them including him, and they acted like they understood him. So it's not technically a human with aphasia, or someone who is bad at English- it's just an alien who mimicked English words and emotional pitches in his voice to convey what he want, but not understood that his words don't make any sense in context (just as on of the types of aphasia)
@SonnyFRST11 ай бұрын
Fra is an extra-dimensional amongus, right down to sneaking into a space crew and altering their outer appearance to blend in with the astronauts in space-suits. The jumbled words aren't a condition, just poor grasp of english linguistics. (which has been improving overtime apparently)
@dragondelsur515610 ай бұрын
Well, the guy is a sentient altered item (the space suit) that sneaked in during the 60s moon landing. Their speech problem is just a cause of not knowing how to speak accordingly or what the words mean.

You didn't show my favourite Hotline message from Alan! It's the one called "On Writing the Manuscript". Alan, as a writer, was "A little heavy on the metaphors" as Sarah Braker put it during the helicopter ride. This Hotline message describes the process through which he changed his style to find the one most suited to him and his situation. Probably my favourite Hotline message! It's also really nice to listen to! There's a certain musicality in the excessively arid style of the message.

I remember playing this, not knowing who or what Alan Wake was and also not having finished the main story. I didn‘t realize that this was a dlc and was so confused trying to fit this into to the main story. Gave me such headache.
