I lived 10 years in Indonesia and speak the language very well. My impression is that Indonesian people is very loyal and honest in business. They are well educated, I had my daughter going her 8 first year in school there, she is very successful, and absolutely equal to Norwegian standard of education. Indonesian math in 7th grade resembles 10th grade in Norway. Indonesians are extremely interested in peaceful problemsolving and cooperation on every level, from private to business and government policy. Very patient and flexible in human interaction. Indonesia is very safe, it is a good country to live in and very good people to work with. Im so happy for the Indonesians to join Bricks, as it is a smart choice and good for their people.

Malaysia and Thailand will soon join. Philippines is excluded! Vietnam is doing wait-and-see to see if the West gives Vietnam something valuable (e.g. semiconductor) in exchange for not aligning with China/Russia. Their country had been colonized by foreign forces across the ocean, bombed to oblivion, effects of Agent Orange still haunting their people today, unexploded landmines still litter their land etc. Both China and Vietnam are socialist states, share similar culture, so why don't they both work together towards a better future after the 1979 incident? Perhaps this is a sign of Stockholm syndrome, which seems to be a common theme -- look at Philippines (Philippine-American war incident), Japan, South Korea (Jeju Island incident). All the west had done in East Asia was to cause division and destabilize the region, pitting people of similar culture against each other, never to reconcile and prosper together. As a frequent visitor to Indonesia I can say it has a young population, free university education is available via scholarship and it’s a country that is emerging and will be a phenomenal economy in a decade. After 32 years of military dictatorship thanks to the CIA coup in 1965 corruption is being tackled, elections are transparent and the people are profoundly nationalistic. Lots of Western countries rely on it for manufacturing and the central and provincial governments are very cognisant of their capacity to increase the economy. With the tourist cash cow of Bali experiencing excess tourism the other 17,000 islands in the archipelago are gearing up as pristine alternatives. Keep an eye on Indonesia she’s on the way.

If one of these countries does not agree, they cannot join. This is like the veto right in the UN (America, England, France, Russia and China). South Africa is only a full member, just like Indonesia, it does not have veto rights. Veto rights do not require voting.
