I would spend half and put it to a house. I have been in 10 weddings and a bridesmaid 7 times. No they aren’t all married still. Honestly, they all run together a decade later. The small in a national forest wedding that cost by friend 10 grand is the one I remember the most-and had the most fun at. She is also one that has the best drama-free relationship (and didn’t go into debt and got a house with the extra 20 grand).

I'm guessing he is from the dual island nation of Trinidad and Tobago considering they went with steel pan and he may be Hindu but not strongly tied to his religion given that he was wearing a wristband from that religion but there is no mention of a Hindu or part Hindu wedding & a wedding is a major life event. I won't say marriage because their vows appear to be the last thing on their minds, if at all. There is a major difference between a marriage and a wedding. They're celebrating a Wedding, not Marriage.

When I was married to my first ( I thought ONLY husband forever.) My Mom told me who she hired for the reception and I chose my colors, etc from their stock. Mom changed the punch up to sherbet ( frappe') a family tradition, and cookies of choice went with the price. We chose fabrics and a pattern for my gown and our friend made it. Mom and Dad hired a small family orchstra and it was the best reception for years to come. ( People KEPT coming for hours, we didn't even have time to dance-once, and we were ballroom dancers.) I was happy with everything, I think everything was around a $1,000.00 and I felt blessed. The grooms family paid for a dinner at their church, (maybe people also brought things, I don't remember.) I'm not surprised to know some of these couples are still together to this day even if the bride/groom seems to be a nightmare to deal with. Not everything is like what we see on camera, they actually tend to exaggerate a lot to create drama for the viewers to hook up on the show. Omgggggg there is literally no such thing as an "elegant barbeque" like wtf and how confusing of a concept. What she really wants is an elegant outdoor wedding on a barbeque budget. There is literally no reason to add almost $2,000 on alcohol if alcohol is already in their package. If the mom wanted that vodka so bad she should have paid the extra $2000.They guests are going to get drunk for free no matter what. They should have compromised and gotten just a few bottles of the expensive vodka and had like 1 shot for each guest with the table number cards or on the tables for the toast or something like that. Also keeping thousands of dollars worth of unnecessary "surprises" from your groom who is probably the one that is paying for said "surprises" is just wrong.

Get rid of those princess Diana's balloon sleeves, add a modern neckline and a few tuck and alterations here and there and THATS THE DRESS THE MATERIAL OF THAT DRESS IS FAR BETTER THAN ANY DRESS YOU CAN FIND TODAY. THE LOVE (FAMILY LOVE) is priceless. Nobody even thought of those things, instead she broke the bank with that wedding dress she. Paid top dollar for. Foolish girl, but it's her day. When it can down to my wedding dress, I looked through bridal magazines, fell in love with the dress one of Nixon's daughters got married in, tore out the picture took it to a wedding dressmaker and she made it for me for 400.00$. I'd never pay 8,000 for any dress, call me cheap, or u american, with a seamstress or dressmaker who knows what she or he is doing can make you a custom dress taylored to your style, without breaking any bank.

Ok so marriage is about love and commitment not how much money you spend on the wedding because all that money you spent could have been a great down payment for a house or in some cases the outright purchase of a house. Then you have to think about having children they aren't cheap, college tuition. Because all that you spent for one day depending on your culture which some have multiple days is so costly and if you divorce which I hope no one does all of it was for nothing. You can have a beautiful wedding without all of that. And if people call you out on it you can say but I'm mortgage free with money I n the bank for you and your family
