That's how my MIL is. She had five boys so she kindly offered me her dress. I was so honored however it wasn't my style. I did make sure she was the first one to see my dress when it arrived so we still could share a special moment :) I'm a really blessed lady 😊

good for the bride, i know a family where there is a legacy dress. it's from the 1940s, made of satin and lovely, but it's an optional thing.Some have worn it, some haven't. all brides know it's an option, but there is no issue, if they don't wear it. So good for Susan, it's her wedding, it's her dress, and always her choice

These were taped several years back . Strapless was a big deal. I did bridal gown alterations and they all wanted the same thing. Cap sleeves and ballet necklines had a spree too for a while. Big ball gowns. Popularity goes in waves. Now it’s those awful deep v cleavage gowns. I quit.

the first dress was definitely the right way to go. the bride is right that the traditional dress is getting a bit too dated. the first dress was modern but still classy (NOT sexy, i agree with the matrons that is not what you should be thinking about looking like on the day you are pledging yourself to ONE man in front of god and your family). the second dress was just too similar to the heirloom dress, like at that point why bother getting a new dress? and the third one did not look bridal on her. #1 was the way to go.
