They are still very relevant...if they improve the resolution and the range of depth of field in the next generation bridge cameras, then they will have a competitive advantage.

I agree, I would have liked to have at least received image stabilizer even in 4K and at least 4K-60 video as many other cameras have it and even higher resolution today

I use the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 and as long as you respect the limits of the small sensor it can give great results. I paid $400 CAD but to replace it with a mirrorless, 600 mm lens and 2x teleconveter would be several thousand dollars.

I love bridge cams for traveling. My first was a Canon S3 and then a S5 which I used for many years. Now I take along a Lumix FZ300 or an FZ1000 II or a Sony RX10 IV. Not needing to think about lenses, weight and changing is less hassle while traveling. I like mine.

Are the performances still up to the mark?
@thilobraun3440 Жыл бұрын
@@camerazone_ It depends, what the cameras I listed are compared to. I have a knack for Superzooms and also have the Sony 400V and the Canon HX60 which you both listed. As always it dependes on what the individual photographer wants to do with images. For my travel needs one of the two the two Lumix Cameras or the RX10IV are perfect. If I have the intention of extended use, I take along a Lumix G9 or an Olympus M5 Mk III or perhaps the trusty Canon EOS 800D or my Nikon D5200. For my needs the cameras listed are sufficient. Perhaps I will buy a used Olympus M1 Mk II some day..

do you have the 3 cameras that you mention? which you think is better the fz or the sony?
@thilobraun3440 Жыл бұрын
@@ramipo1 Yes I do. The FZ1000 II is smaller and lighter and costs less. It is easy to handle. The Sony is larger, heavy, more expensive and the handling is something to get used to. The images are great. Would buy it again anytime.

Bridge cameras are hugely good. The massive focal range on these cameras makes them, in some circumstances, unbeatable. I have a Nikon P1000 and this is a unique offering in the market, having 24-3000mm optical zoom, plus X4 digital zoom. Yes, that’s right no error here. It is like a small telescope and camera combined. Personally, I think every photographer should have one of these, however, if you are of smaller build, with smaller hands, the Nikon P950 maybe the right camera for you. Cheers

I used to use compact Cameras years ago for their simplicity but when I restarted this year I got a couple of old bridge cameras that I found in a pawn shop one a Nikon Coolpix L 110 the other a sony Dsc h 300 although both models are old they are still quite good starter bridge cameras especially the Sony one which has a higher zoom than the Nikon then I decided later in the year to get a newer Kodak astro zoom and settled for the 425 model as it had a mid range zoom but is still way better than the Sony because I found out that the major drawback with bridge cameras is the larger the zoom lens the heavier the camera gets so you have to draw a line of comfort of use and usibility against weight and function that is the trade off with bridge cameras

For me it is very relevant after having used only Bridge cameras for the last 15 years I can only use my right hand so DSLR is a big no no for me. And on video cameras, unfortunately, much has been moved to the screen on the left side more difficult on them to. Even smartphones are much harder for me to film or photograph with as I don't have a steady grip. So yes I hope for more development of Bridge cameras so I can continue to develop the image quality of my videos. when i have external microphones etc. It is sad that they have fallen behind, considering that in any case Panasonic was early with both HD, Full HD and 4K

For years I was a compact camera user and gave up in the early 2000s because films were becoming more expensive and digital cameras were still very basic at an affordable price point which is around £ 200 or less but when I restarted my my old hobby at the star of 2024 after 20 year break the technology has become good enough so if you buy a new bridge camera within the affordable price point you will get one with a decent mega pixel quality and the same goes if you buy an older camera that would have sold at a higher price point 10 years ago but you can now get for around £100 or less making it a good starter camera untill you can get a newer model at a latter date I still like and occasionally use a compact camera but like the extra versitility that you get from a bridge camera

Is there a website where I can compare images of bridge cameras with images of DSLRs? For example when a Bridge camera says its has 24-600mm zoom lens, can I see an image of its 600mm zoom and compare that with the image of a proper DSLR with 600mm zoom lens?

Hi. Probably no one will see this. But there is some options i can buy for starting my photography hobby again. I see this camera is good price and performance. My other option is Sony Alpha ZV-E10L APS-C 16-50 mm lens. This one is bridge camera and I don't wanna spend a lot on lenses. But the Sony has better sensor. And it's newer. Idk if I'll be happy with the Panasonic. It is heavier and so hard to carry maybe. But i like the zoom and macro options in one camera. Any help about my situation ?

@@camerazone_ I’m looking at getting a bridge camera for all round general use and the Canon Powershot SX70 seems to stand out to me, what do you think of it? Is it worth the price when I can get an EOS 4000D for almost £200 less?
@jonathanmurphy2065 Жыл бұрын
I would consider what you want to shoot and how much you want to spend. Most bridge cameras are far less expensive than the equivalent DSLR or mirrorless with the same lens capabilities. I bought the Lumix DC-FZ80 and have been really enjoying it for my amateur bird and wildlife photography. It was $400 CAD but a similar equipped DSLR would be around $5000. I will admit the image quality would be better on the DSLR but I couldn't dream of spending that much unless I was making money from it.

@atariplayer3686 Жыл бұрын
@@photobyTaps I agree with you Sony Cybershot R1 is a great camera for it's price vs features, however it only has a fixed 24-120mm equivalent lens. With modern day technology Sony can easily put a 24-240mm equivalent lens, with possibly lower aperture for better low light performance as well as bumping up the resolution and the range of depth of field!
