I mean, I get why it happened. And I get that the stability it provided at times was beneficial. But like Selmy said to Dany "how many thousands of people have died because your brother chose the wrong woman." Anyway, I was joking about the nitpicking I did on your use of "deserves." You are right. Based off his gameplay, he is probably the most "deserving." I'm with you.

haha i see what u did there as far as the debt scheme. do u think it will come into play in the show? or is it more of a book thing? the way i see it, it factors in in terms of being able to hire sell swords, pay the gold cloaks, lannister army, etc... but i feel like the show has such limitted time left, that they are going to leave the Iron Bank behind do u think it will come into play in season 7 or season 8?
@lrmcatspaw17 жыл бұрын
I dont know if there are enough episodes to fit that in. My guess is, if it even is in the show, it will be something barely touched, even if the consequences are vast. It definitely is important. Even King Robert mentions it to Ned, that he owes too much to the Lannisters to break the alliance with them. That alone shows that Little finger managed to force a King to do what he wanted. It already played a major role in the series.

In hindsight, Littlefinger's fate was obvious. Sansa was his key to the North, and the North was his key to Westeros. He needed her to trust him and he needed her isolated in order for him to control her. But by the end of season 6, neither of those things are true; she has Jon, and after Ramsey she no longer trusts Littlefinger (and seems distrustful of everyone, likely an instinct she learned in King's Landing). This is a bad situation, but salvageable, he just needs to kill Jon and make it look like an accident. He'd lose the Wildlings, but the Northern lords would still likely remain with Sansa, and he'd still have the Vale. What really screwed him over was the return of Bran and Arya- it's easy to kill one half-Stark and make it look like an accident, but killing two other Starks (including the rightful heir) as well without arising suspicion is impossible. So he instead tries to have Sansa basically do it for him, but since she no longer trusts him, his plan falls apart. To his credit, Littlefinger's plan was perfect. He could have kept Sansa in his control, united the North around him, and marched on the rest of Westeros (which was badly weakened at that point). All he needed was for the missing Stark children (Arya, Bran, and Rickon, to be clear) to stay missing, Jon to stay at the wall, and Daenerys/Viserys to never return to Westeros. All of these are very unlikely to go wrong: the Stark children (theoretically) have a snowball's chance in hell of surviving on their own, Jon's vows are for life and he has no claim to anything anyway, and the chances of a Targaryen successfully returning to Westeros are barely greater than the Stark children surviving. Even better, any one of those three things could go wrong, and Littlefinger would almost certainly have been able to handle it. But all three of them went wrong at once, creating a perfect storm that not even Littlefinger could have survived.

Let's not forget Bran came back omniscient and knew absolutely everything he did. Littlefinger also underestimated the Stark children. He thought he could pit Sansa against Arya by saying Arya wanted power, but Sansa knew Arya never wanted to be a Lady of anything. The Northmen are also loyal and do not often backstab each other, so Littlefinger came to realize that the Game of Thrones was not effective on people who refused to play it.
@JesusTheWayTheTruthTheLife4 жыл бұрын
Littlefinger wasn't killed because he was beaten in the game of thrones, he was killed because the writers had no clue how to write his character without the direction of George after he left the show. They rushed the second half of the series especially the final 2 seasons and his character arc was butchered to suit this uninspired ending. Also, him handing over Sansa to the Boltons was completely ridiculous. As if he would go through all of that work to just completely give away the key to the North to a family that betrayed and murdered hers, set to be wed to a sadistic psycopath in Ramsey Bolton (who he should very well know will mistreat her as this is littlefinger after all "knowledge is power", he knows much about many especially those he gambles on) and in a castle that's about to be under siege and at war. That is far to risky a situation for him to gamble with the key to the North just to create tension between Cersei and the Boltons especially after all the work he did to get her (when he could just tell Cersei that the Boltons have her anyway to create the tension he desired, as all the proof Cersei needed was his word), and all this when the Boltons may very well be killed by Stannis and removed from Winerfell anyway! His execution and thus closure to his story was truly pathetic and was not befitting of his character at all. There was no real evidence presented against him (other than Bran's God vision - which is a nice little hack for the writers to get themselves out of any poor writing situation), he didn't argue his case which is ludicrous, he didn't state to have a trial by combat or plead to take the black (which littlefinger would have as he would do literally anything to survive), and all the while being in a situation where he is surrounded by those who want him dead. Jon, Sansa, Arya, Brienne, Lord Royce plus who knows how many others and this all after being explicitly warned by Bran that he has the ability to see into the past from callback to famous "Chaos is a Ladder" scene. Littlefingers' true character would have fled Winterfell immediately or killed bran and framed it on another. He would not for one moment have remained in such a dangerous environment, only to play mind games with children ultimately leading to his death in what can only be described as a blatantly obvious fan service scene. Such a terrible ending to the master of manipulation, the king of deception, and "the" player of the Game of Thrones.

This video was great and it shows how smart little finger is... But it also seems very dumb. He went from being the master of coin to being a shakey regent of the vale. That was way too much work for a small upgrade. And it also is kinda dumb that nobody saw little finger for what he was.
@MarkeesBoisseau5 жыл бұрын
I don't think the upgrade was that small considering he went from just being a rich man to being a rich man with a large army and a castle which he didn't have before. His plan from there was to get closer to marrying Sensa and this becoming king of the North. That plan obviously collapsed but it was a 'good' plan. People saw Little Finger and called him out on his sh!t plenty of times but with all the chaos that was going on that he pretty much created, who time to figure out that he was behind it all. Too much was going on to point to one person. I mean aside from the drama going on in the world of the living, more important things like the dead coming was going to happen regardless.

Well maybe more than that but I missed alot of cool stuff Like on tdays video I mentioned "a harp is as dangerous as a sword in the right hands." It relates to littlefinger sending or paying off singers in the tyrell crew to sing of joffreys madess. That got the tyrells to be cool with loras joinING the kings guard. Loras loves his sister and has a temper, so LF was setting up a scenario where joffrey would have a guard slap Margaery or something like that. And Lf expected loras to go nuts, possibly taking out joffrey So it never came to fruition, but it was another of his moves And because I caught that line recently,now I wponder if marrilion (books only) was working for LF the entire time. Traveling to the vale. Taking the fall for the push, but not seeming scared bc he isn't So we should keep our eyes on him in WoW. Singing songs to move forward LFs plots The master of the game of thrones

Tyrion deduces it because he knows the dagger had been in Roberts possession and although it could have been Cerci or Jamie who took it and gave it to an assassin he thinks they would be smarter than that, and both have given very convincing denials. The narrative confirms it because Joffrey gloats about his experience with valerian steel and excitement about his new sword killing a load of people. Littlefinger only plays a part because he lies about who took the dagger at the tournament. Tyrion didn't confront Littlefinger, he seems to have a grudging respect for him. He doesn't like him but finds himself wanting him back at court because of how essential he is to the finances (at least understanding them).

Everyone seem to forget something Baelish said before all those conflict start. To Ned "You have to make peace with the Lannisters, with you ennemy" Baelish is the keeper of peace. He his one of the smartest caracter in the games but his intelligence have flaws. He can't handle as those plot. I believe when he said "Chaos is a ladder" was a reminder to Ned that Robert's rebellion ended up with Baratheon on the throne because the Taragaryen were the chaos. A chaos that only got ease with and knight that could'nt face his King to him. Littlefinger has an amazing senses to see the worst in other and he uses this as a tool like he use his whorehouse and he sure take care not to get messy himself. His power relies on knowledge (which he have become of his business). Also his business is responsible of his wealth. He need peace to be in the games. Not the way "they" do it. Those man who see violence as an act of love. He has a desperate faith for love and an disgust for violence. He doesn't create chaos. He is just a master at dealing with it for peace with all those family that believe a name, honor or love is an excuse for war.

OK GOT end game will follow real history of the UK which is most of GRRM source material. Sansa is Elizabeth I (virgin Queen and re haired). Elizabeth I united the UK and reigned over their Golden cultural period and united the Kingdoms - this will be how GOT will end after all forms of magic and magical beings are extinguished from world forever.

If the writers have Sansa or another Stark get the better of Littlefinger, then they have fucking failed. LF said it himself "Ah, the Starks. Quick tempers, slow minds." It would be a complete travesty to have an idiot like Sansa outfox a player who has been manipulating the whole fucking game since the beginning. No, if anyone is going to outsmart him, it needs to be Varys. In the first few seasons we have some wonderful scenes of them dukeing it out. I know GRRM with take this route, but hopefully D&D won't fuck this one up. I think LF will make it all the way to the throne, but fail at the last moment.

I still don't understand why he had Sansa marry Ramsay. Littlefinger was not the kind of man to take an action without being well informed, and Ramsay never made any real attempt to hide his sadism, in fact, he revelled in it. The match was inevitably going to end in Ramsay raping and torturing Sansa, which lead directly to Sansa no longer trusting Baelish. What does Baelish actually gain from that? It never made sense, both within the plot, and in terms of the narrative.

Hey man, you forgot one of the most important Baelish scenes in the show! How Baelish tricked Tywin Lannister. Remember one of Baelish's most famous scenes where he says "Chaos is a ladder?" Season 3, episode 6. The Climb. During that scene, many people thought that the scene was all about how Ros betrayed Baelish and how he took his revenge. But no, that scene was actually all about Sansa. And Baelish's plan for Sansa. And that scene also showed how Baelish used the great Tywin Lannister to be a part of his plan. Baelish had his eyes set on Sansa (as the key to The North) from season 1. But Varys and Olenna were planning to marry Sansa and Loras. He came to know this when his informant, Oliver, slept with Loras and found out about this plan. He told this to Cercei, knowing fully that she would inform Tywin about it. And he also knew exactly what Tywin's response to this would be. Tywin would set up a marriage between Tyrion and Sansa. And of course, Sansa would hate it. So he asked Sansa to come with him, but she refuses, thinking she's going to marry Loras. So he just leaves. After Sansa came to know that she's marrying Tyrion, she is extremely sad that she missed the chance to escape with Baelish. I think this is also important. Baelish made her desperately wish she went with him. Desperation is also one way to make someone fall in love with you. If you see the dialogue in that scene, it was almost a lot about Sansa, and the chance she was given. Anyway, he expected that she would trust him more when she was given another chance to escape after Joffery's murder. So in a way, he used Tywin to get Sansa to trust him even more and come with him.

He could lead a rebellion just like Robert did. Let the Tyrells and Lannisters war it out over the Faith Militant issue, and then declare them to be awful rulers who go to war at the expense of the common folk, making them cruel leaders. Not to mention, Tommen is illegitimate and the Baratheons are extinct, so there is no immediate bloodline to follow. I suspect he could get away with it, if he has the backing of the Vale, North, and Riverlands. He could promise to marry the daughter of a powerful house, hire mercenaries, and march on KL with a host of 100,000 or more.

@@georgebrantley776 That's unlikely simply because Westeros gives a lot of importance on titles. And "Bealish" is not a good enough name to claim the seven kingdoms. Even Robert was only hailed king beacuse of his Targaryen ancestry. Why would the North, Dorne or Wastelands even Reach ever bow down to someone with no legitimacy what so ever? Even Targaryen's needed dragons to subdue them. And simply having army, no matter how large, would never be enough for someone without an ounce of heritage or legitimacy.

Why did Joffery try to get Bran killed?
@slamscaper1285 жыл бұрын
Little finger was indeed a master of the game. Intelligent, powerful, clever, and willing to do WHATEVER he needed to do in order to get what he wanted. One could argue that he even "won" his feud with Varys, as he got the best of "The Spider" when he found out that one of his girls was spying for Varys and gave her to Joffrey to mutilate with is favorite crossbow. What little finger never figured into his plan was that magic is REAL. He never believed this. Bran used his abilities to see exactly what Petyr did to start a war and not only turn on Ned (which led to his death), but also led to the death of nearly every Stark (even if it was indirectly or through manipulation). This reinforces Varys statement about little finger being one of the most dangerous men in all of Westeros, because he truly was. His intelligence gave him no help by the time Bran was able to see exactly what he had done in every way, not to mention that Sansa herself became clever enough to know that Petyr was scheming once again to have her kill Arya, whom he knew wanted him dead. Lord Baelish really is a very complex character and deserves to be on the list of the most evil and dangerous men in the GoT universe.

He also knows all ins and outs of the whole city, and all the secret doors, this comes into play when he leads Tryion out of the cells doing his trial at the end of asos(I think that's the right novel) using this he leads him through a secret tunnel (disguised as a jailer) right to the tower of the hand, which leads to the assassination of twyin. I dont think Stannis would have had any use for him and would have set up his own team of advisers. Stannis might even have executed him for involvement in Ned's death and of being doubtful loyalty. Overall though I did find the character confusing. I got that he was sneaky and couldn't be trusted, even when he seemed to be offering help. You could see he was playing characters off against each other but I didn't really know to what end. I'm not sure it was made clear enough that he was benefiting from events, I thought maybe he wanted Ned dead because he loved his wife. He never had a claim to the throne unlike a lot of the main players, nor was he a clear loyal backer of one of them either like Davos or Jorah. I guess he's more like Roose Bolton who's willing to change his support depending on his best interest. The trouble is he just comes off as a bit of an anarchist unless you are paying extremely close attention. I know the show is known for its complex morally ambigious characters but Littlefinger is maybe just a touch too far. Varys is similar to Littlefinger but at least he openly explains his motives and goals by season 5. Littlefinger was just baffling to me watching the series.

Brandon and Rickard had gone there to get Lyanna Stark back. If you have read the story it is highly assumed that Lyanna was "The Laughing Knight" and Rhaegar was tasked with hunting down said night since Aerys had thought her shield was laughing him. Rhaegar then found out it was Lyanna and they fell in love. Littlefinger could easily be the one who told the lie that Lyanna was kidnapped and not that she ran away with Rhaegar. This was his first taste of creating chaos in order to capitalize on the ashes. It's my theory any way. The case for littlefinger is pretty strong, too. The biggest whole is how he coordinated it, assuming he was in kingslanding. I think it was joffrey, but I haven't wrote littlefinger off either. There's def a chance it was him Thank u for pointing it out btw :) I wouldve given u a shoutout in the video I just posted if u had said that yesterday. But either way, thank u!

+bridge4. All good. Just watched that vid "Who sent the assassin" you posted. I personally don't see Joff being that adept at 'the game'. His character, while cruel, wasn't really playing the game of thrones that way. If he had truly been playing, he wouldn't have had Ned executed, wouldn't have thrown Selmy off the King's Guard etc. He just wanted to be a sadistic c*nt. No tactical play in that. Also, if Joff were to have had anyone killed, it would have been Aria for basically pantsing him by disarming him and tossing his sword in the river. Anyway, really liking your series, Sub'd and thumbed! Thanks!

+dan finger i hear ya on the sadistic part. I should be added that in. But I think it was a combination of wanting to impress his father and being a sick, twisted person The reason I say that is bc George lays out hints in his words. So the dialogue exchange that happened between Jamie and cersei points to that being the true cause. Oh! Just remembered something. I had meant to research this and layer it into the view but I forgot. Whoops ...while researching this,I saw someone on a forum somewhere mention that George rr martin had said the answer is in book 3 (ASOS). I never found that interview of George to confirm that line, but if it's true, it strengthens the argument (1) that there's a reason beyond just being sadistic and (2) that it was joffrey based off that convo between jaime and Cat (based off process of eliminating, since there aren't any other clear references to the assassination attempt) Buttt, with all that said. U might be right as well. Joffrey was literally a monster. Who knows what went through his sick head lol Thanks for sharing!

Varys is more dangerous than Littlefinger and he is the one helping invading savages into the country, in Season 6 as in Season 1.
@bridge47 жыл бұрын
when u say savages, are u referring to the Dothraki?
@Leo_ofRedKeep7 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. People coming to kill, rape, enslave and destroy for the fun of it, as Drogo claimed in S1E07 before his ecstatic wife who looked so in love with the whole thing.

Littlefinger had as much patience and masterful plotting as Palpatine from Star Wars.

Many people attribute intelligence to Understanding. Western philosophy considers intelligence and understanding as synonymous in nature. But Eastern philosophy rejects this notion. You can say that Baelish was intelligent, but he lacked understanding. The only character in GOT who did everything out of love for a portrait he saw as a kid. Love is not a bad thing, but it eventually takes over your mind. Baelish loved a picture of Catelyn Tully as a kid, the one who loved Brandon. He got attached to that picture so hard that losing a fight against Brandon lost him that beloved picture. Here comes the ambition of reaching the goal of making that picture his again. But that picture is gone, lost somewhere for years. UNTIL, he sees Sansa which is the closest thing to that picture. Because, Catelyn is not that picture anymore. But here's the thing Baelish. That picture was never real. That was just an illusion, just as deceptive as power which is another illusion. Nature changes itself every time and human mind fears change and seeks permanence. Which forces humans to seek power due to hidden internal fear. They mistake this hidden internal fear for courage, greed, hate, love etc. And eventually you created Chaos, chaos which covers up your actions. But that picture is still so far away, every time you come closer to it. BECAUSE IT WASN'T REAL, IT NEVER WAS.

I think Sansa will outwit and kill him. It makes sense in a literary way because she'd then be Arya's and Bran's equals. Let me explain. Arya trained to be a Faceless Man by the Waif, even though many believe Jaqen H'ghar was her mentor. Jaqen was only her caretaker in Braavos in the TV show, so the Waif was technically the one training her according to the montages we see. What did Arya do? She killed her mentor. If we look at Bran, we see a similar fate. He's trained by the Three-Eyed Raven, yet he also caused the Three-Eyed Raven's death by allowing the Night King to enter where they were hiding. Since Arya and Bran are her only two siblings left (Jon's only her cousin), then the third edition of a Stark betraying her mentor is bound to happen. Sansa has slowly learned from Littlefinger how to do diplomatic politics, even if she hasn't fully shown that. Littlefinger is the only one who has influenced her in the way the Waif was to Arya and the Three-Eyed Raven was to Bran. The difference is how it's carried out. Arya carried hers out of the want to survive, and Bran carried his out of the want to practice more. Sansa would carry hers out of the want for power in her family, I presume.
