I’ve never heard of a “witness mark”. That’s a great tip that I got from this! That could have saved me the aggravation of the method I use- “guesstimating”.

Hey Kevin. There are two schools of thought on the collet aligning screw. I don't use it. If like yours, it backed out partially, and the collet spins, it can result in a lot of damage.

Are you able to get your collets to "stick" OK without the aligning screw? I was having trouble, and that is why I went to the hassle of fixing it.

@@KevinToppenberg I haven't had any problems. If the treads in your collets and on your drawbar are good, you shouldn't have any problem.

@@KW-ei3pi I hadn't thought about the threads introducing a torque. I'll have to check out the drawbar. It's a bit old and battered.
