And there are a ton of Black lesbians who would love to get represented on screen, so what’s the problem? Asking for a Bridgerton that’s like the 2024 Sense and Sensibility adaptation when you know that Bridgerton as a series, from seasons 1 up till now, has NEVER been like that cuz S&S is based off of Austen’s work and she doesn’t have sex in her stories cuz her stories are primarily about class commentaries in Regency England, whilst Bridgerton is based off of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton romance books that have a shit ton of sex in them, is you making a strawman argument. Edited to add: and I say this as someone that loves BOTH types of stories. Give me BOTH the Austen-esque romance (which people who’ve watched my book content know I am a Jane Austen truther until THE DAY I DIE!!!) AND the sex driven romances of Bridgerton. I enjoy and appreciate them both 🤷🏾‍♀️. I know why people might prefer one or the other but if you prefer Austen’s type of romance, Bridgerton was never the show for you unfortunately cuz it was always going to have the sex

@suezcontours6653 and you keep confirming my suspicions that what you’re doing is making a ton of strawman arguments. I have a video that literally talking about how sex isn’t a substitute for intimacy which might have been the better video for you to leave this comment cuz it seems more aligned with what you’re saying but you didn’t choose that video. You chose this one. Proof number 1. Then. You keep bringing comparisons with IPs and stories that are fundamentally different from what Bridgerton is. The new Sense & Sensibility remake; based off Austen’s work, written in the regency era. Amanda Byrnes She’s All That, which is a modern reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, written in the Elizabethan era. Both of which are MARKEDLY different from Bridgerton written in the 2000s, that has always been a historical romance novel with a smidgen of erotica. Proof number 2. You started your argument talking about how you would have preferred it be Michael, not Michaela because Black women’s bodies are sexualized and often pushed into the Jezebel trope, when there are Black women who are virgins and would rather not be represented that way. I pointed out that BLACK lesbians exist and deserve representation too, and your response to that, was to point out that you are okay with gay SUBTEXT, that ended up being VERY heterosexual between the WHITE Amanda Barnes and Channing Tatum? So not just a strawman argument but a dogwhistle as well. I know what you’re saying and keeping from saying and this is the last I will be responding to this particular comment thread of yours ✌🏾

Say 👏it👏louder👏 for the fools who think romance cannot be a genre with narrative complexity!! The whole point of period dramas and historical romance is to cash in on the societal restrictions placed on people, the built in tension in every interaction built up by people having to keep their vulnerabilities hidden (and the inherent romance in discovering another person’a flaws and helping them grow through them)!! Love this video, but what else is new? ♥️

🤔 Now you got me thinking about the 2nd book (Kantony) and if that was about secrets as well. I don't think it was necessarily, but the other books definitely are about secrets.
@ChroniclesofNoria
@ChroniclesofNoria 2 ай бұрын
Oh def. There’s still the secret of Kanthony’s fear and belief that he would die at 38, which he turns into some sort of family curse and boogeyman. There’s Kate’s secret of her having falling in love with the man who was forced into marrying her and her being convinced that he would never love her back. There’s the shared secret of the reasons for Kanthony’s shotgun marriage that’s kept by Kanthony, Mary, Violet and Portia when they discovered Anthony’s mouth on Kate’s breast cuz he was trying to suck out the sting. There’s def some secrets in book 2 that drive their plot as well ☺️. Thanks for commenting ☺️🤗

Controversial opinion, love triangles are lazy writing. Also, you have been persuasive enough that I'm actually a little worried that losing that big secret of who Lady Whistledown is might actually hurt the show over all (that and I really cannot stand the idea of losing Julie Andrews!)
