All of the things we’ve heard are true, but I have watched Bridgerton many times and must say that one of the most intimate parts of this love story is the way Simon looks at Daphne. His face somehow softens when he looks at her with a tiny tiny hint of a smile. I believe that face and that look is one of the things that we all fell in love with. Every woman wants to be looked at in that way.

As someone who, before the Bridgerton television series, had no interest in Regency romances I'd now love to see all the stories filmed, including the prequels. I've now read most of Julia Quinn's novels and would love to see many of those stories come to life. Sincere thanks to Netflix for its significant efforts in putting this series together and marrying up the amazing cast (each and every actor is fantastic) the scripts, the music, and every other aspect, which has captured audiences worldwide - something we very much need during Covid. I'm eagerly awaiting series 2 but in the meantime I've watched the series more times than I can count, and will keep reading the books. I call it my daily happy pill.

The portrayal of different ethnicities in a period drama setting is my favourite thing. We’re not looking for authenticity to the time period. There are authentic period pieces out there and I love them, but I would be lying if I said that I never dreamt of myself in period piece scenarios. As a woman, I’m aware that historically we were so limited in our life pursuits and women were solely seen to just be wives and mothers then. As much as I’m grateful to have more autonomy and choice in my life, I love costume dramas and seeing non white actors portray these roles in a predominantly white society was so refreshing, and I loved that aspect of Bridgerton the most. As Rege said, it’s about humanity and any story about humanity deserves to represent different ethnicities

Great interview and dialogue. One thing I appreciate so much about Bridgerton is the attention to detail on subtleties of emotions. There is such a genuine connection and dance, if you will, of the characters in their relationships, where interactions easily could have become objectified and coarse. That portrayal of subtlety and very genuine connection is so well done and so relatable. 💗💗💗💗💗

Well, considering the care they put into the first season, I doubt they'll skimp on the second. I haven't read the books, but lots of people say the second book was their favorite, so I think we can look forward to a good story. Yes, we won't have the Duke of Hastings to drool over, but Anthony ain't bad, and if the story's good, it should certainly be worth our time.

@@LittleMissKendallS Well, as a big Regé-Jean Page fan myself, I have to agree. There are few shows that got to me as much as this did. _Poldark_ was one of them with Aidan Turner and _Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman_ with Joe Lando as well as _Quantum Leap_ with Scott Bakula. I even made sure I met Joe and Scott, and I went to London to see Aidan in a play a few years ago-what a thrill that was! I had seen Regé in _Roots_ but that was five years ago, and I'm old. LOL Anyway, I'm not likely to forget him now. I wish he'd play more romantic roles, but he seems determined not to get stuck doing that, and I guess I don't blame him. As for _Bridgerton,_ Season Two, I do look forward to it, but I doubt it'll be quite the thrill the first season was, for obvious reasons. :)

@@wendyscott8425 I think it was the correct career move to move on from Bridgerton. He has a chance to work with amazing directors, actors and screenwriters in his upcoming movies. He is a leading man and season two would have provided so little screen time (based off the book)I don't think it would have been beneficial to his career. I loved this interview. And LOVE Bridgerton. Although, it makes me sad that shows like Outlander aren't getting nearly the high-level attention it deserves, despite being very much along the lines of Bridgerton (though, a little less cheeky XD)
@Ana_Paula.Frasson
@Ana_Paula.Frasson 3 жыл бұрын
Look, I really love Outlander, but let's be honest, those two can't be compare the way people tend to do, it's not usually the same public for both. Bridgerton is almost a farytale, all about love and family drama. But Outlander is reality, pain, torture, rape, prision and has a strong intention to keep things how in the actual period would be. Like I said, I love it, is one of my favorite shows, but being real, the ones who want the fun and the dresses and the love everywhere, won't watch a show where every season a woman is raped.
@vivalashenanigans4306
@vivalashenanigans4306 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ana_Paula.Frasson I understand what you’re saying, which is why my comment wasn’t super serious. It was about the attention it’s getting more than actually comparing them. Definitely depends on what people are watching the show for. But Outlander does have lots of love, beautiful costumes, beautiful people, family drama, amazing writing and acting. It also has a very fairytale-like-romance and time travel (not pure reality). Not every episode is blood and war. And DEFINITELY not every episode or season has rape. We aren’t talking about Game of Thrones here.
@Ana_Paula.Frasson
@Ana_Paula.Frasson 3 жыл бұрын
@@vivalashenanigans4306 . Like I said, Outlander is great, but it's really not the same type of show. And yes, there is a lot of rape attempts, only look at season one: first episode and Randall tries to rape Claire, few episodes later Dougal tries, then she is capture and Randall tries again, then there is the painful sequence with Jaime in jail. Not mentioning later: Mary, Claire, Brianna all being raped. Yes, it has well writing and acting, also costumes. But the people who watch Bridgerton for Daphne walking on stairs with a pretty (modern) dress, talking to this handsome cute prince, making this also handsome duke jealous, don't wanna see Claire being raped by the king of France after a miscarriage to set Jaime free from jail. That's just a fact.
@vivalashenanigans4306
@vivalashenanigans4306 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ana_Paula.Frasson Again, my comment was more of a non-serious quip, not a comparison. I do have to say, you make Bridgerton fans out to be VERY shallow if all they are into is Daphne wearing pretty dresses and all the gossipy/intrigue, sex and romance vs Outlander having more dark aspects to it. Which, only is REALLY dark in Season 1 and the battle scenes. As for the part with the king-- this was most definitely not rape-- it was an agreed exchange. And Outlander also has BEAUTIFUL dresses to gawk at-- especially season 2. Bridgerton is a very excellent show-- I watched it 3x in the first MONTH of it airing. It's humorous, a bit sassy, colourful, and well written, acted, etc. There's a lot more to a good show than aesthetic and pretty actors and sex. Which was the only reason I mentioned wishing a romance, like Outlander, that's just as "steamy" and whatnot would get similar attentions. But your replies keep taking me off-track again-- I'm saying that I wasn't trying to compare the two shows-- only comment that I feel if you're into romance stories and awesome characters and amazing writing, that Outlander is another excellent show that I feel doesn't get as much media attention as it could have.
@LittleMissKendallS
@LittleMissKendallS 3 жыл бұрын
@@vivalashenanigans4306 I think your missing her point. One of the reasons Outlander is not garnering the same attention by viewership and media is because of the pain/torturs/rape element throughout the show. I for one couldn't watch it because of that. Yes there is a love story and steamy scenes but that is overshadowed by the constant violence that many can't stomach
