This is perhaps one of the best breakdowns of how hair costuming is done when done well that I have ever seen. This deserves a lot of shares. It explains things so well that younger children (who are curious about theater!) can grasp the concepts while giving excellent suggestions and hints throughout for anyone looking to upgrade their own work for events. Thank you for the attention to detail, maintaining focus, and transitioning each character’s looks from one season or scene to the next.

@@jaijai5250 I personally feel that Nicola is a beautiful woman no matter what role she plays, yes I’ve seen her in Derry Girls and I plan to watch the Big Mood and in any other projects she is in. It’s not just her looks that makes her beautiful it’s her charisma, her character, the way she advocates and empowers others, the way she appreciates the people around her and in her life! I really wish they wouldn't re-use wigs from earlier seasons because I live in the hope that, one day, there will be a museum exhibition of all the wigs used in Bridgerton. I can imagine there will be a book one day, but seeing them IRL would be epic. Mind you, I don't think it would come to Australia (where I am), but I can live in hope...

at least this way it won't by as likely to end up in landfill. and is less wastage :) I was surprised to hear they only have one wig, i would have thought they would have more than one so that if anything were to happen they can swap it out, or so that they have the next style for the next seen being recorded ready to go.

I love this breakdown! Cressida Cowper's actor Jessica Madsen said in an interview that in Season 1 they used her actual hair and she experienced hair breakage and also gave her mild headaches because of tightness and tension from the style. So having wigs help not only the prep time and use time for both the crew and the actors but also maintaining the styles because they wore the same style for a few days, as well as protecting the actor's real hair as is stated in the video.

1:00 About the KISS STYLE wig ... many of the actors shown were not from the 1950s. Brooke Shields and Claudia S'fer were way AFTER the 1950s. Rita Hayworth was more of a 1940s movie star. The photos may demonstrate a similar hairstyle, but it's not right to call these women 1950s actors.

This is really well done, but it's worth noting that Claudia Schiffer and Brooke Shields were not on the same timeline or even industry as Anita and Thelma... While Brooke did try out film she was definitely known more as a model as was Claudia. Both were a big deal in the height of celebrity models in the 80s although Brooke was famous as a baby being the face of Gerber. Neither of them though was famous for wearing that hairstyle. Anita Page and Thelma Todd were both film stars in the 20s and that was actually slightly before the Kiss Hair was really done this way. It technically began in the late 20s but went through even to the 50s but was far more common on the heads of Rita Hayworth (who actually had extremely curly red hair), Grace Kelly, Veronica Lake and Marilyn Monroe.

I had a hard time believing that her sister, a supporting character, had more wigs than a main character. I figured they had to have at least two in case something happened during the scene to change it out because filming must go on for scheduling and budget reasons. It cannot be hot held up by a wig issue, so would need a secondary to change out.

Feelings on the season aside, Bridgerton has never been historically accurate or tried to be - they’ve always taken regency as an inspiration rather than a rule. Although I adore historical fashion and accuracy I do think this actually works for Bridgerton as it gives it simultaneously a more modern and a more fantastical vibe, both of which seem to be on purpose.
