I don’t feel for penolope here’s why. She didn’t care that marina was decieving the ton about being with child but when marina and Colin were getting close that was a different story because she had a thing for Colin. So she wrote about this thinking of herself. In the process penolope helped ruin her family and even ruined Colin. Yes marina shouldn’t of even deceived society but even before she knew there was a connection and penolope would of found gossip to tanish her regardless because she wanted Colin having no regard for what Colin wants. Penolope pretended to be marinas friend. Then Eloise she claimed she wrote about her because she wanted to save her but again another good way to manipulate the situation. She got aggravated when Eloise said she is gonna pretend to be whistledown to get the queen of her back because the queen thinking Eloise was whistledown was willing to work with her. Now as friend if you cared you would of gone along with that plan keeping heat of you but penolope again like marina only cared for herself and didn’t want Eloise taking her credit so she screwed her over because her and Theo were getting close and it was moment of time Theo would of exposed her so penolope screwed Eloise over. Penolope like her mother is a self centred manipulative person who is all out for herself

I feel for Penelope. Her mother clearly said she has no chance of getting married. Being young and being treated like that, falling in love with her friend who doesn't even call her a woman , she sees no other option as become SOMEONE in disguise and have at least some impact on the events. She acted foolishly and selfishly about Colin, but lets'just remember that in that era women didn't have much possibilities to change anything in their lives. When she was losing the hypothetical prospects with Colin, she might have felt she was losing her last hope for happiness. She couldn't just go somewhere and meet new people, find new friends like we can do today. It was the same crowd of people, over and over. When they would all get marry, she would be left alone. We shouldn't be judging her from our modern perspective.

I agree. And It seems like so many people thought she outed Marina’s pregnancy because of jealousy, but I felt she did it more because she didn’t want Colin to be deceived or tricked into a marriage.

She tried to persuade her not to trap Colin over and over and she only exposed her at the literal last minute. Even with Eloise, (whom I feel more sympathy towards) I can still understand why Pen made that choice. If Pen did nothing, the Queen would have ruined Eloise and her family. The Queen's word holds a lot of significance to the point where she saved Kate and Anthony from scandal by cosigning the marriage. Eloise being exposed for being a "political radical" is something she can overcome unlike the Queen believing she is LW.

Out of all of them, she’s the best of them lot. I absolutely love and adore her character and she reminds me so much of Elizabeth Bennet, outspoken, head strong, fierce and true to herself. I hope season 3 she gets to shine more and we get to see her grow. She deserves love and appreciation even if Colin and those around her can’t see it.

First of all, I LOVE SEASON 2 PENELOPE. No one can change my mind. Nicola Coughlans acting is spectacular you can see the emotions on her face and in her eyes which is rare and amazing. Yes Penelope sort of betrayed Elosie and her family, not because of what she wrote about her, but because she wrote about the family, the family that trusted her, she was in their inner circle and used that to her advantage to an extent, i understand that.... But in terms of what she wrote about Elosie, that was necessary. Elosie was reckless and selfish with the whole sneaking away thing. She put herself in that predicament with the queen and she put her entire family at risk with her actions. Theo said the same thing when she showed up at the shop. It may not seem like that but Penelope "saved" El from greater consequences than being shunned by society, which was the actions of the queen. I believe despite everything Pen loves El. I dont know if she can be labelled as a friend because thats up to El to decide i guess. I LOVE the ending were she was talking about being silent and was about to give up, but then the boss ladys voice Julie Andrews came along and she said she will not be silenced. You have to understand that this is a big deal, especially for a woman of her time, IT WAS AMAZING. She is becoming her own women and fighting for her career, her voice and something that she believes in. Penelope Featherington is a woman of great courage. AND I LOVE HER. She may have lost her friend and her admirers in the Bridgerton fanbase but she refuses to lose who she is.

I actually think the silent bit that is spoken by Nicola as opposed to lady Whistledown is actually Penelope trying to make sense of what has happened in one night. Her cousin Jack is a fraudster she senses that her mum had something to do with it because Lady Featherington is not that surprised, Eloise has not only found out that she’s lady Whistledown but also you had the Queen breathing down her neck with terrible repercussions for the Bridgeton family with 3 day deadline/ Eloise is not mentioned much because she only really interacts with her family and Penelope so anything that is said is immediately going to pinpoint lady Whistledown to them because while Eloise almost doesn’t care she’ll only say it with Penelope who is in the shadows so there’s not really many people who would be listening. you also have Colin Who has said to her you are treasured friend you’re Penelope so you’re not considered being one of the women I’m giving up your special and he has investigated and exposed Jack and I should point out there’s been a lot of society rules broken in there with Penelope and Colin on their own and also the letters between them about Collins travels that was a big no-no and also if you remember then he’s clearly been teased by his friends and he says that response he could’ve said it better he could’ve said well Penelope is my sister Eloise‘s friend It would be awkward or he could even just say she is my friend but the fact he has betrayed her and that was done differently in the book which I actually prefer the book version because Penelope stands up for herself here there was so much commotion going on she needs that time just to go I need the silence I need to think I need to process she gave up lady Whistledown for Eloise but now she’s got nothing she’s got no positives in her life so she will go back to the only thing that she does have which is lady Whistledown. We must also remember that well Penelope is out she is quite a young girl she’s not even in her 20s yet I think she’s about 1516 at this point so you’ve got the teenage emotions that is a lot of conflict for one person. And especially one night that’s hard for anyone to process In a short space of time

She is one of my favorite character's on the show. For her to pull off Lady Whistledown means she is not only pretty but smart. She's such a great actress and I hope they give her a really, really good romance story. Colin would almost be too predictable but no doubt the writers will make it exciting. She's such a pretty young lady and I hope that they let her lose the yellow dresses that the character complains about wearing because her mother makes her do so. Wait until one day her family (who always overlooks her) realize she is Lady Whistledown. That will be rich.

It was a 180 degree turn from him saying 'she was special to him' to then announcing he would never consider courting Penelope. Totally different from RMB & with Eloises discovery (was Colin)and Pen's all but banishment from the family....I have no idea where the storylines are going or how Colin/Penelope will get together. Why not add a love interest for Pen or get Lady D to poke him with her cane 💗💗💗

I definitely understand why she did it and don’t think it was as easy as just coming out as Lady Whistledown but I also think that she should have told Eloise the truth before things got out of hand.
