In all honesty, I normally hate esl activities because I find them too immature; however, I loved this one. It works perfectly for adults and you can work with many topics at the same time. I'm going to use for a review. Thank you and congratulations!

Congrats! That was a great TBL lesson demo; the pre-task and the task cycle were pretty clear. However, I would like you to show us how to properly give feedback to students. How do you point the mistakes they commited during the task?
@BridgeTEFL
@BridgeTEFL 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Camilo, thanks for watching our video! One of our preferred methods for correcting mistakes is to make a note of all the mistakes you observed and then go over them with the entire class once the activity is over. Give them the chance to make the correction (as a group) before you do it yourself. This allows them to think critically about their mistakes without singling out any one student.

Wow! I really liked this idea for a variety of reasons - novelty, creativity, vocabulary. When I was thinking of developing my own task-based activity, I was stuck in "reality mode." Her idea of a murder mystery is a clever one as well.

All skills are integrated in the lesson and the Ss use the lg productively and receptively, in an unrehearsed context. Is the handout which you gave them available somewhere on the web? Cheers

@lackadaddyz THIS IS NOT A TBL CLASS WHERE THE MAIN AIM IS TO HAVE STUDENTS "DISCOVER" THROUGH COMMUNICATIVE ACTIVITIES. HERE, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT HER MAIN AIM IS TO HAVE THEM SPEAKING, WHICH IS FULFILLED, BUT WHAT DID THEY "NOTICE" SHE GAVE THEM EXAMPLES OF WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO PRODUCE. NOT A TBL CLASS.

In a natural learning environment (play) the parent would verbalise what the child is doing, "now you are drawing a house" etc etc. Perhaps you could adapt this by introducing basic play tasks and getting the children to repeat

You obviously don't teach EFL. This is absolutely a TBL activity. The biggest difference in a task and an exercise is that the outcome is not supposed to be language-based in a task-based lesson, where in an exercise, it is. And the lesson could also be vocabulary-based, there doesn't always need to be a grammar focus, or it can be skills-based. The production is what is important in a TBL activity. She did quite well.
