Not sure it is standard SOP but the funeral home notified Soc (in)Security of the death of my loved one. I called SS and they said the home notified them. Also to add a #6, call all credit card companies so 'accidental' charges don't appear. Good brief video. Thanks

My sister was our Dads’ executor and “handled” his estate details- WITHOUT TELLING MY BROTHER OR I ABOUT HIS WILL OR EVEN WHEN WE OR WHERE TO MEET WITH HIS LAWYER. Our brother was in Stage 4 Cancer and lived out of State, but She and I lived in same State only 3 hours apart. She did not even give me a copy of Dads’ Will - I had to ask her for my copy. She was very forceful in making sure she fulfilled her “list” of requests I was to comply with -like it or not! This all took place less than 2 months after he passed in December of 2014 (11 days before Christmas), a very bad time to deal with this whole matter. I told her STRAIGHT UP THAT I DID NOT WANT TO SELL OR TRADE MY CAR! Too bad- “Dad said to! “ I repeated my demand for more time- she demanded that I sell it- PERIOD! QUESTION- CAN AN EXECUTOR FORCE BY COMPULSION \ DURESS THAT A PERSON INHERITING FROM THEIR PARENT DO SOMETHING (sell their car,etc), THAT THAT PERSON DOES NOT WANT TO SELL?!

My little sister...she was 2...she died today on Christmas eve... I can't handle it!!!! I miss her so much she always loved me and I kinda pushed her away this is my fault why couldn't have I been a better big sister...

Thank you so much for sharing this very informative message. It is a demanding, exhausting task. Because of extenuating circumstances (an out of state, accident caused death, etc.) it took over a year to complete. Heed this attorney's message and make sure to get rest. God Bless❤

Excellent points 👍 I listened but may have missed: Credit Cards 💳 & accounts! Let them know! So often when someone passes an individual ( sadly more often then not ) a relative will attempt to use them! Question: with the Will how long before beneficiaries get notified? With my Mother passing my two siblings ( one is in charge of Mothers estate ) have copies of the Will but have not shown me it as of yet. There is a house involved & they have “told” me we are to divide it equally but I have not seen the will. I am not even sure if they have filed ( probate court? ) yet.

My spouseless childless sister died intestate over a year ago so her 3 siblings are estate heirs...but one of the siblings has no interest in his inheritance. He now refuses all communications from the state appointed estate administrator, who has already mailed a registered letter informing him of the situation & providing certified death cert. etc. My question is how much effort is legally required to to be made before atleast partial distributions to the remaing 2 siblings can begin ??? The admin says this is called a revocation. But all he says is it will take 'a long time' & 'repeated efforts to contact' before any distribution can begin.

WHY does my estate attorney admin keep telling me i MUST agree to give him 'Power of Attorney' so he can sell the estate property (house + car) ??? despite me telling him i will sell the house using a real estate agent... 1) Make a legal will or Trust Fund so your family will get that at your death. 2) Get 10 Death Certificates 3) Call and Cancel the Social Security Check for the person who died. 4) Get the locks changed for the house. 5) Get help - a CPA, Financial Planner, Tax Repairs, Estate Sales. and so forth.

WRONG!! It's totally on the family to cancel it or leave the funds in deceased bank acct and SS will remove them after a couple months. They will definitely take the funds out after death or sue for them if they are spent.
