some good information on mortgage after someone passes; especially with COVID so many families were caught off guard and lost the bread winners in the family - save your money and do a TRUST; establish secondary beneficiaries etc., otherwise Probate court will TAKE a LOT of money to establish who the focal point will be to estate and worse if there are only minors or young children - a Trust is expensive done by a Lawyer BUT PROBATE is much much more expensive

My pops just passed away. He still has a mortgage and he never added me to it. He only talked about it and left notes and wrote letters to himself as a reminder to do it. But he never got around to it. as far as i know, he didn't do it. I have access to the online loan, and i can see how much is owed, and my bank account is attached as the only payment option now. I can and want to pay off the house in full. But my name isnt on the loan or title of the house. I just paid next month mortgage. And plan to continue paying. But i need to get the title in My name. I know you're not going to give advice directly, but if anyone else reads this. Any advice to move forward in the trandfer is greatly appreciated. God bless you all and may God have mercy on me.

My husband purchased an old house on auction and bid it and won. He was so elated because the house had a 2 car garage where he could house his old cars. He did nothing to Improve house. I had a new roof put on and new windows Which I am paying on. When he died I had to get paper work to put in my name solely The house that he bought with his credit cards only had his name on it. I do not want to go through Probate. We own property in NY state the spouse gets 100% if there are no children. I do not want to go through Probate here in Minnesota for a house . I want the privacy do not have . If I have a Living trust can I add house to it so I do not have to go through Probate?

If the kids are minors, the same rules apply - the mortgage must continue to be paid. Make sure there's life insurance to cover the mortgage payments. Also, a guardian will likely need to be appointed to raise them as well as manage their inheritance. I hate the fact that tou take soooooooooooo long just to answer a simple question. When people come on KZbin, they want people who go straight to the point. I doubt many will stay here for as long as I did. Just an advise if tou want people to watch.
