I use Model Railway Train Set Baseboard Alignment Dowels as location pins for my bridge when it's lowered in position. Locks in perfectly every time. Love your bridge work.

I look at that lift bridge and I see a parking lot…or a bus depot.

Not sure if you are talking the single track lift up bridge between level 1 and 2 or the double track lift up section on the main lines? But here is a link to see what became of the double track lift up section: sean9953.wixsite.com/valvalleymr/copy-of-blank-town-template-2 Then here is a link to the single track bridge. Please note that the Town of Wilson and Sicamous have undergone a big rebuild this past year. The web page is not up to date on that. : sean9953.wixsite.com/valvalleymr/copy-of-blank-town-template-7

I believe you are referring to the large lift bridge. Your idea would have been a better plan had I thought of it back when I was building the bench work. After much track realigning and some dermal work to level out things, I have gotten it to work real well. Thanks for the input. I do wish I had thought of it a while ago. :)

Good job on that Brig! You may have a loose hinge, but it looks like you've solved that with some creative alignment solutions! Carmine 🚂

On the large Lift Brig.... There's an old trick, that prevents alignment problems and/or bending or tweaking. You may have to redo the two tracks that go over the non hinged side... You lay down the track, temporarily, in single pieces, over the edge, with about 5-6 ties removed over the seam. With the track still in one piece over that seam, mark 4 spots directly under the rails, 2 on one side of the seam, 2 on the other - under each rail. Remove the tracks, and install 8 *flat head* screws in those marks. Screw them in, until the tops of all the screws just touch the bottom of the rails. Then, put the track back down. This time, permanently fixed down, making sure that all four rails are touching all eight screw heads. Then, apply flux where the rails touch all 8 screws (IMPORTANT, because steel screws don't solder well). Then..... You guessed it! Solder the bottom of the rails to the tops of the screws. THEN, cut the rails, between the screws, as close to the seam as possible. You're DONE! They're permanently set and aligned!

Thanks. Here is a link to how it came out. Its now a junction. I made it a more of a country seen but at a junction between 3 railroads. Here is a link that will show you more on how that turned out. Thanks for the nice comment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nF7PqYere5tgndU

such a simple idea for lift outs, where or how did you come up with this, terrific, the larger lift out, well what about a couple cattle pens for stock cars, and a large farm scene? you can get cows from ebay 50 for 6 bucks. just a thought, and you would have to add a siding for the stock yards. As far as you being on camera, keep it up, after seeing this video, and it was like meeting you, I hit subscribe, so keep up the great videos, DAVE H

Dave H, Thank you for the kind comment. The idea for a large lift out came from my stupid stubbornness. I have a bad back and getting down on my knees to enter or leave the layout was not an appealing idea. Your Idea of a farm was high on the list for scenery on this section. I did go with a more rural plan. Because it was a junction I made it a more country seen but at a junction between 3 railroads. Here is a link that will show you more on how that turned out. Thanks for the nice comment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nF7PqYere5tgndU

how about extending the plywood shelf longer into the other table and that way you can break your track on the plywood joint and eliminating your alignment issues hopefully

That would fix the Main Line Trax but Disturbed the yard tracks. And put some switches in the middle of the mix.
