Just a quick disclaimer: when asking it what's wrong or right, it has to be double checked, or you should ask it for sources. As correct as it is in most cases, its barebones functionality is still 'hallucinating' the answers by cross-referencing its database and sometimes it prioritises giving you the answer you want to hear so much that it makes things up. There are many case studies detailing this but it's just something to keep in mind, it's not a fact checker, rather an assistant.
@yanneyanenchannel Жыл бұрын
Double-checking yourself is the only way to be sure, since ChatGPT cannot tell you specific sources for any information it gives (which is one of its biggest downsides in my opinion). It's definitely amazing for many things, but like you said, not a fact checker for sure.

I recently came across a Google article discussing the dichotomy between Memorization and Generalization. These concepts stem from the realm of Machine Learning Models, yet they possess remarkable relevance to our everyday lives. A captivating facet lies in the art of categorization-whether one should lean towards memorization or generalize-when delving into the acquisition of fresh knowledge. Intriguingly, I'm currently in the midst of experimenting with this approach to ascertain its potential for enhancing my learning endeavors. My primary focus resides in emphasizing the power of generalization over mere memorization.
@captainobvious9188 Жыл бұрын
I’ve found that myself since it was a teenager. If I want to actually learn and remember a subject I need to “own it” - that is I need to categorize everything and understand the relationships. Rote memorization always fails for me. I can not remember a new word until I know the etymology of it. It doesn’t help that my memory is already poor because I have hypersomnia.

@@ThermalKill24 I agree, I envision memorization as comprising various raw blocks of information, and in the process of generalization, we break down these blocks, question the "why" behind things, and seek additional sources for answers. In the end, we have a more generalized understanding that can be applied to any new concept. This would be the typical approach.

Thank you, really useful techniques, for sure I'll try all of them ;) Actually I used a few days ago the one with personality, for example: Prompt: "Imagine you are [Albert Einstein, Alan Touring, Ada Lovelace and so on]. From this perspective, generate the best, most original ideas on how I can use a basic simple calculator with basic operations and simple memory (M+, M-, MRC) - operations include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square root, and % - for learning programming, creating algorithms, and optimizing processes." So, you can use any kind of object and try to learn from that object in some area (programming in my example). Another useful technique: "Explain the topic as if you were explaining it to a stone lying by the road." "Explain the topic as if you were explaining it to a washing machine." "Look at the washing process in an automatic washing machine from the perspective of a small, fragile tea cup (fork, butterfly, whatever). What observations, conclusions, and thoughts do you have on this matter?" The more abstract the juxtapositions of objects and ideas, the greater the potential to derive original insights and connections. So it is fresh new perspective for a subject, which can be very fruitful. Good luck with experimenting and once again, thank you ;)

I've asked ChatGPT to create together 'memory palace', actually it is 'memory island', because I chose Robinson Crusoe's island, exotic climate, beach, ocean, woods, bush, streams, waterfalls, caves and so on. My topic was of course, programming, algorithms, data science, such a stuff. ChatGPT is so brilliant, so creative, so extraordinary unique in creation of perfect connections and relations between topics, subject, objects, ideas, I repeat, it is so creative, that I am every single time amazed and grateful that I live now, to cite doctor from 'Two minutes papers': What a time to be alive! ;) All the best!

One of the interesting things you can do with large language models is ask them to generate prompts for you. So you can essentially ask that question to the chatbot and tell it to generate sample prompts to give to a large language model chatbot like ChatGPT. Example input: Please pretend to be a world-class AI prompt expert. I am going to tell you the sort of things I want and I would like you to reply to me with a prompt that I can use to input into a blank ChatGPT window. The prompt that you generate for me should include a relevant role for the AI to assume as well as an example output for the AI to follow. I'm looking for an AI prompt around the topic of: how to use ChatGPT to help build and manage tasks/projects that are currently in the design phase. I just had this exact text into GPT-4/ Pro version of ChatGPT. This is what I received back from the bot: /// Prompt: As a seasoned Project Manager with expertise in design phase management, please guide me on how to use ChatGPT to help build and manage tasks and projects that are currently in the design phase. Provide actionable steps, tips, and example scenarios to illustrate your points. Example Output: Certainly! Utilizing ChatGPT for project management in the design phase can be a game-changer. Here are some actionable steps and tips: Idea Brainstorming: Use ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas. Simply ask, "Generate some innovative design ideas for a mobile app," and sift through the suggestions. Task Delegation: Create a list of tasks and ask ChatGPT to help prioritize them based on urgency and importance. For example, "Prioritize the following tasks: UI design, market research, prototype development." Meeting Agendas: Before team meetings, ask ChatGPT to draft an agenda focused on design-phase tasks. This ensures that you cover all essential points. Risk Assessment: Query ChatGPT for potential risks in the design phase and how to mitigate them. For instance, "List potential risks in the design phase of a construction project and suggest mitigation strategies." Example Scenario: Let's say you're working on a new software product. You could ask ChatGPT, "Outline the steps for conducting user experience testing in the design phase." The AI will provide a detailed guide, which you can then share with your team. Remember, while ChatGPT is a powerful tool, it's essential to cross-verify the information and tailor it to your specific project needs. ///

@@Jumpyfoot why did I not explore this more!! Using a prompt for a prompt left me wondering how to state a clear goal for a specific task/project when I myself am not sure what it should be
@Jumpyfoot Жыл бұрын
I put your most recent reply into the chat I created for your KZbin comment. This is the reply I received: /// Ah, the meta nature of using a prompt to generate a prompt can indeed be a bit mind-bending! When you're uncertain about the specific goals of a task or project, it can be challenging to articulate a clear prompt. In such cases, you might benefit from prompts that guide the AI to help you explore and clarify your objectives. Here's an example: Prompt: As a seasoned Business Analyst with expertise in project goal-setting, please help me explore and clarify the objectives for a project I'm working on. I'm not entirely sure what the goals should be, so I'd appreciate a structured approach to identify and prioritize them. Example Output: Certainly! When you're unsure about the goals of a project, it's crucial to take a step back and assess various aspects. Here's a structured approach to help you identify and prioritize your objectives: Scope Exploration: What is the broad aim of the project? Is it to develop a new product, improve an existing service, or perhaps something else? Stakeholder Analysis: Who are the key stakeholders, and what are their interests and concerns? SWOT Analysis: Conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis to identify areas that need attention. SMART Goals: Based on the above analyses, try to formulate SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals. Example Scenario: Suppose you're working on a project to improve customer service but aren't sure what the specific goals should be. You could start by asking, "What are the key performance indicators (KPIs) for customer service improvement?" After identifying these, you can set SMART goals like reducing customer wait time by 20% in the next quarter. By following this structured approach, you'll have a clearer understanding of your project's objectives, making it easier to manage and execute. /// @@BisyBackson365

AI learns the very same way as Natural Intelligence, especially like children. Exactly same way! Tons of input and analyzing when and what to say. Having no knowledge of any language (yet), our children learn that statistically most accurate words when see some would "good morning" or such. At some point children understand what they actually say. Again, same as AI.

I think the two methods discussed in this video could be fruitful. But there is a big BUT. Namely, many times ChatGPT gives the wrong answers (I checked this myself over months for ancient history, physics and math) therefore it is quite risky to trust every single output of ChatGPT to test your knowledge of a topic, and it is always better to double check everything that comes out of it.

This argument assumes that AI can produce perfect answers, responses, stories, etc., which is unfortunately not the case. AI large language models, such as ChatGPT, tend to hallucinate information that is not grounded in reality. We should be aware that being "sound" does not necessarily mean being factual. The use (or over-use) of AI might lead to learning misinformation.
