Briggs and Stratton 12 HP sidevalve engine, carburator replacement

Time to put on the free carburator i got from www.briggsparts.se

The proper way to do this is to buy a tap from most hardware stores drill out the hole to the size of your hole minus the pitch of the thread eg a 6mm thread has a 1mm pitch so you will fill it to 5mm and then wind the tap through to creat a thread if you just drill it out and wind your threaded rod through with some lock tight it will hold for a while and then pull out with little force

True but it worked great for over a year when I had it.

By the way, it is quite common to use self tapping screws in aluminum so I think it will work great i the future too.

If I remember it correct (this was a couple of years ago) I asked a online dealer (www.briggsparts.se) if I could use a cheaper carburetor for this engine. The carburetor was for a 11 hp engine and this has a 12 hp engine. The price difference was quite big but it looks the same in pictures. The dealer responded to me and said “you can get the carburetor for free, if you mount it and try it out, I don’t have time or a machine to try it out on”. Of course that was a deal I couldn’t refuse. So I got a free carburetor and Briggsparts got the info they needed to be able to sell this cheaper carburetor to more engines, win-win!
