Yesterday i went to Napa for a gold oil filter same part # and oil from Auto Zone for changing the oil for our craftsman

What size oil filter wrench (kind used with socket) will work with this filter? I cannot use the strap kind as I don't have enough clearance to spin it from the side. If you know of a part that works please provide the link! Thank you

why did you not fill the filter with oil 1st prior to installing? hmm must love those dry starts. always pre soak your filters.

Do not fill it completely..add an ounce or two of oil depending on what size filter you use and hold it horizontal while spinning to evenly prime the media leaving no excess oil standing inside the filter.

I suppose you can; however, the engine in your car is water cooled. SAE 30 for small engines is specifically formulated to better withstand the higher operating temperatures of air cooled engines. Amsoil 10w30 for small engines is the absolute best if you're willing to pay the price.
