Briggsy is it time for a Morning Tide Reunion where you can tell us what happened to the crew and why you went your separate ways? You’re all grown up and mature enough to tell the story and we as old Morning Tide fans would absolutely love to hear about it, good or bad!

Hi Mate, in case we never do a film like that I’ll just tell you what happened. We tried for 5 long years to make MTF financially viable, at its peak the channel made $350USD in a month. The MTF trips cost us thousands to go on and that’s not mentioning the unpaid man hours to leave work for a week to go on the trip. The edits & music took 200-400 hours per film (unpaid). The merch turned over a decent amount but because the size of our orders from manufacturers were small the margins were no good & we never saw any of that $, it all just went back into ordering new merch (that’s with us sending it, designing it, etc. again unpaid). In our personal lives we had moved back in with parents in caravan parks, others were having to borrow $ off each other to pay rent, absolutely povo and for years had pressure from each other and our families to get MTF to take off, you’re prolly getting the picture. Basically got to a point where we had put so much time, energy & $ into MTF and nothing ever came from it we had to give up on it. Towards the end I’d noticed how popular vlog style channels had become and as a last ditch effort I told the boys we’re all going to start our own channels and try to keep the films to a simple, raw format. Within a month we were all making good money (thousands of USD per month) and within a year were able to quit our normal jobs and were full time on KZbin travelling the world fishing. We all loved the MTF films but the format never took off on YT. The films live on though and are a pretty amazing record of our stories leading up to our three channel’s inception 🤙

Your way to humble Briggsy. I could be wrong but it feels like you laid the foundation for you all to have a career in doing what you guys do. The part I miss most is the tunes to the videos, they added so much anticipation and drama to the visuals. I hope you’re still picking up the axe occasionally. 🤙🏽

@@Briggsy Thanks mate, that makes so much sense. I loved the feature length videos but as you say, it must’ve taken hours to put together and didn’t make financial sense. When I’m bored or sometimes when I can’t sleep, I throw an old episode on and it feels so good and familiar. Also reminds me of a good period in my life when life was good and I was watching those videos and I was getting back into fishing. And you were all at different levels of fishing addiction - one of my fave vids was when you and Cavy were smashing some fish and Brooksy learnt some harsh lessons on what gear is required and how you and Cavy were so serious about your gear and knots. The best thing about the MTF videos was the banter and friendship you guys had tho. It’s rare. It’s so good to see everyone develop. Your kids have grown so much and I see Brooksy has one on the way! Briggsy ive been following you guys from since morning tide and i work on the cruise ship for a living and i get like 2 months vacation every year and all i do on my vacation is fishing day and night because i love to fish just that anxiety of hooking up on a monster fish every single time i go fishing is an addiction no fisherman really talks about landing a truly monster is what makes it the absolute best but your videos have given me alot more knowledge and they keep me occupied on my free time while i cant get to go fish shout out to Brooksy and cavy would definitely love to see the 3 of you do a week long trip just pack all the gears and just go hunt for monster GTs try to get a 60kg monster yewwwww🎣💪🏽🙏🏽
