I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know.

You don't hear Pink Floyd, you don't even listen to Pink Floyd, It just hits you. And when those glorious times come when your mood matches the music, it's perfectly transcendent. I think their music hits you, Pope. The feeling simply can't be contrived. You're a gem man and thanks to you I can rest easier knowing the baton has been passed to a newer generation so that this legacy of great music will continue after you pass the baton.

All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. I have had the extreme pleasure of meeting David Gilmour and shook both of his hands at the same time as he smiled. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life.

Glad to see you reacting to Pink Floyd again! :) Obviously, anything from Pulse is amazing, but another live cut I recommend checking out is 'Echoes' from David Gilmour's solo concert in 2006, live from Gdansk. That was his last performance of 'Echoes' with Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright, who passed away a couple of years later. As much as I love the 1972 live recording in an empty amphitheater in Pompeii. I feel like the 2006 version is more fully realized as a production (and the guitar is more front and center, along with Richard Wright's keyboards, obviously). After Richard Wright died, David Gilmour said he would never perform 'Echoes' again, as he felt it was a musical conversation between the two of them. Here is the link if you ever want to check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e37RlnafbquSi7M

This is my favorite Pink Floyd song. I have the same thing Syd had so I understand where they are coming from. It also says how much they cared for him. Just think, on The Division Bell album the video for High Hopes has people carrying a large bust of Syd. That was in 1994. He left the band in 1968 and they were still paying homage to him in 1994. And at every concert they have played as well.

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

You did it right, bro. Some music just doesn't need any video and is better with eyes closed. Nothing to distract from the journey they've taken you on. Let it play out in your mind because that's exactly what the musicians intended for it to do. The music.... Plus, your own imagination can take you as far away as you wish to go without going anywhere at all. Great reaction!

I remember going to the record store in the fall of 1975 with my friend to buy the studio album Wish You Were Here the day it first hit the stores. The album was dark blue and had the usual shrink-wrap plastic, so we *thought*. Turned out the shrink-wrap itself was dark blue and the album cover was actually white. Anyway, we sat and listened to the whole thing commenting on what it was about. I would have looked it up on the internet but I could not find my phone because, after all, it was 1975 and cell phones and the internet had not yet been invented! Crap!
