The guitarist is Dave gilmore and he is still very much alive thank goodness! the band started out in the late 1960s so this concert is mid career. In 1994 mobile phones didn't have cameras on them so no probelm at concerts. This song is about one of the original members of the band Syd Barret . he was regarded as a genius and very charismatic but was one of the musicians who succumbed to drugs experimentation and was lost to severe mental health problems. This is a tribute and expression of love and admiration for him. If you read the lyrics knowing that the song will make perfect sense and is a work of genius - you reached for the secret too soon you shone like the moon shine on you crazy diamond... Their music is long and complex and very atmospheric, briliant musicians and make fantastic use of female backing vocalists - wait till you get to great gig in the sky in for many treats if you do this concert..

Unfortunately, David Gilmore was diagnosed with a neurological disease! And in a few years (3, 5, 7 years?) he'll become debilitated.😢 One of the greatest musicians of all time will be taken from us, and the world will be the poorer for it! At least we will still have their music, of over 50 years, to soothe our souls. Enjoy his new recordings, I just bought them, and a couple of Pink Floyd disc's which I didn't have! I've even got a vinyl record of the soundtrack to the movie "More" one of their earliest recordings, which I bought in Idar-oberstein Germany, in 1971! Everybody, listen to the Pulse version, or Meddle version, of 'One of These Days' for a pick me up! It always works for me....

There likely will never be a concert like this one. David Gilmour is one of the best guitarists in history, he doesn't 'play' guitar, it is his voice and he sings, cries, pleads, and draws forth emotions no lyrics could, and yet you will see him 'scat' singing in harmony at times. Pink Floyd often has long instrumental intros, and David often has a long guitar solo, the one for 'Comfortably Numb' in this concert is one of his best. When you said 'who's that' when the camera panned to the backup vocalists, the video title credits named them, they are featured in a song done in this concert where the three vocalists cover what Clare Torry was famous for improvising on a Sunday studio session for £15 (long story there) on the song 'Great Gig in the Sky' that was a piece first played only as an instrumental work a year before called 'The Mortality Sequence.'

This song is about Syd Barrett, the lead singer, guitarist and song writer and creator of Pink Floyd. He was forced to leave the band around 1968/69 due to declining mental health and extreme use of hallucinations (LSD). It’s suspected that Syd was schizophrenic. Syd wrote, sang and played lead guitar on the First PF album, Piper at the Gates of Dawn. A FANTASTIC album! It catapulted them to fame. Syd couldn’t handle the stress. He lost his mind and ended up living in seclusion at his mother’s house until his death from cancer in 2005.

David Gilmour (lead guitar and vocals), Rick Wright (grey hair, on keyboards and vocals) and Nick Mason (drums) were original members of the band, except David who joined in '68 to replace Syd. The band was formed in '65. Also, Dick Parry, on sax, has been with them a long time. I'm glad you want to do more from this (Pulse) concert. Every one of them, a banger!

In 1988... philly... I had to step over ppl... passed-out from their, "pre-party" near the gates... with their tickets in their hands. Suffice to say, they kinda missed something, there. 😆 I do have one, unused ticket, for that show. Not mine. I saw them the year before. I'd break a marathon record running to that show, if I had no ride. But that story... I gotta spare ya. That level of facepalm causes 3rd degree burns.

Floyd is big time Blues. This song is a Tribute to Floyd's original Singer Sid Barrett. He went crazy in 1968 from too much LSD and other Drugs. Parts 1-9 recorded in 1975. Studio version is EPIC. Sid's most famous song is "See Emily Play". You may have already heard it and not even known it.

4th row? I often wondered... I was BEHIND the sound board. Most things happened in front of... or above me. I kinda felt blessed at my seats being further back, because I didn't have to look far, to see what was happening. But... to that end, and BIG SPOILER IF ANYONE READING DID NOT SEE, "COMFORTABLY NUMB, LIVE" STOP READING, NOW!!! so... (lol) what was it like, from your perspective, when the stage went practically black, and a billion dots of light were suddenly all around you? I was behind it, but could see some... structure coming up from the rig, behind the soundboard, before the arena lights lit it up.

Every song that Pink Floyd does at this Earl's Court Pulse concert back in 1994 is at least equivalent to almost any other groups Grand finale!! They played for a good two and a half hours and then came out and played three encore songs after that! The three songs were (wish you were here) (comfortably numb) and then (run like hell)! It really doesn't matter if you go to those songs or go in order of the concert every song is beyond belief. Their stage production utilized 98 million dollars worth of equipment in 1994 dollars!! I say it that way because it's probably closer to 200 million dollars worth of equipment in today's market!!

You should do all of the Pulse gig, it'll blow your mind. The first half is a medley of PF stuff, some from the past, some for the (then) new album The Division Bell. Second half is a full performance live of the entire Dark Side of the Moon album but you need to hear the studio version first. Then...a mind-melting encore which includes the greatest guitar solo of all time....Comfortably Numb. Enjoy....

You have no idea how BADLY I wanted to go to that!!! I saw their last two tours, and they remain the best two, I ever saw... and I saw a lot. The fight for 3rd place, behind them is more interesting... but distant. They should'a had a blimp. The outside of the arena, itself was a 3rd layer of their circle of lights. '87 featured the circle, which was the main feature. '94 added the bandshell, outside the (now movable) circle. Kinda... a missed perspective that someone like me... really appreciated. Still... missed the show. (Various cursey words)!

It's always fun seeing someone experience Pink Floyd for the first time, especially someone so young. People did tend to get absorbed by the sound quality and the lighting, they're so mesmerizing, that you simply experienced it communally, it's mind blowing. Two unseen members of the band, the sound engineer, absolutely crystal clear audio LIVE and Marc Brickman, the bands lighting designer for decades, what can I say you saw it, he's been doing that for a long time. I got to see them 3 times, Sept. '87, April '88 for the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and April '94 for the Pulse tour, all in Dallas. I will never forget those.
