Electrifying delivery vans is a perfect application. They have frequent stops and slower average speeds. Too many resources are dedicated to maintenance of ICE-powered vehicles which can now simply concentrate on a much less complex drivetrain. Once the transition to these vehicles is accomplished, we'll wonder why it wasn't done before.

It's got great curb appeal... But this big will likely have curb peel too. I wonder if the EV410 fits in a regular parking spaces and if real world range could be much better. Price, Range and Charge options are not going to tempt me yet, but I'm watching carefully.

I would argue that range would be reduced due to added weight, so you'd have to stop and charge more often, but when you're in a house-on-wheels, is that really so bad? :)
@americanrambler49723 жыл бұрын
Van looks good. But this one is using leaf springs and a drop beam rear axle like the Ram Promaster. It has poor running ground clearance. And with a base empty weight of 8,000 pounds and only a 2,000 pound cargo capacity for its size, its a heavy brick. The one in the video looks to only be front wheel drive, not all wheel drive. If and when this van comes to market, my guess it’s starting price is probably going to be $70,000 to $75,000. An out the door price is probably going to be $90,000 to $120,000 per unit.

This would be great for contractors too. If they could put a ramp on the back to large equipment like lawn mowers and snowblowers, That would be great! Maybe I could put a 4 wheeler in it to go somewhere instead of driving a gas guzzling truck. Or it could be used as a moving van 250 miles most people would only have to charge it once or twice at most. I would love to be able to get one of these. To bad the payments would be $2,500 a month after taxes, insurance, & registration. How are they going to do an emissions check for the states that require it? I'll buy a used one once it hits the $10k mark. I guess I'll have to wait a few years...

Be interesting to see if GM can compete with the BYD trucks and vans. But knowing that BYD is now the third largest battery manufacturer in the world? So $7k a year is nothing to you? If you keep the vehicle for 10 years, you will have saved enough to buy a brand new one again with money left over. That is like getting a free vehicle. In addition, if you listened to the video, these are fleet vehicles, with the first 500 going to FedEx. That means FedEx will be saving $3.5 million per year just on these 500.
@ashton96993 жыл бұрын
A fleet. And that you earn more money during the lifespan because there's much less downtime for maintenance.
@theflew3 жыл бұрын
Companies like UPS, FedEx will run these vehicles easily for over a decade. So if you're saving $7k per vehicle per year for a fleet of 100 vehicles that's $700k a year in savings. That's a big deal for package delivery services where margins matter.
