The very few people that had them and are still using their closed beta accounts now are restricted from the leaderboards until Jan 1 so others can catch up seems like a good fair choice. According to the new tweet by Andrew, the Leaderboards remember the date and time a level is achieved. Once a person opts-in, they will be moved to their proper position based on this. Assuming this works the way it sounds, then as soon as closed beta characters get access to and opt-in to the leaderboards, they will suddenly take the top spots in various areas out of nowhere.

There was only like 10~ people in the closed beta, and only 1 is even close for the top total levels, people have zoomed past most of them. I can beat Usain bolt in a 100m race if I start at 80 meters, I cant beat him in a 1000m race if I start at 80m. With the restriction they cant gloat about the 100m race anymore. Also hi XJ9, I remember you from early league days.

Playing as a unique snowflake coming from OSRS ironman community. Episode 1 Andy till 500, however guard is capped at 50 before choosing a profession. Though, you can level chef, alchemist and forager as much as you like, so off we go! 500! I really like alchemist, will push that one for sure.

If you want to, you can go into episode 2 and get your class chosen without gaining any levels in episode 2, no mandatory levels to progress the story that far just gotta cheese the stag fight a bit

A leaderboard should do 2 things to be functional: 1) show the current highest score, 2) show your exact spot on the leaderboard. It fails in doing both. The number one player has good reasons to not opt-in until reaching level 500. And with so many people being anonimous, you'll never know your exact spot on the leaderboard. They should just make it so everyone is on the leaderboard, but if you've not opted in, you're on the leaderboard as "anonimous player." Just at least have everyone's score on it.

What do you mean it doesn't do those two things? you can click total, each episode, or individual profession to view your standing compared to other players near your level, compare to friends, or see the top 20 of whatever category you are looking at.

@@akkitakara For instance, yesterday in stream, Tacet (who is top 20 overall) came across somebody in game who is higher levelled than him but isn't on the leaderboard. So we know for sure some people in the top 20 aren't actually on the leaderboard, which makes the leaderboard kinda redundant.

@@BrighterShoresCentral i think pvp needs to take a big fat back seat this time round. pvp almost destroyed runescape, how many times? falador massacre. wildy and free trade removal. duel arena. lms botting issue. what do these issues all have in common? THEY ALL STEM FROM RUSHED AND UNPOLISHED PVP MECHANICS. Andrew, if you know what is good for your game, take as much time developing pvp as you POSSIBLY can.

@@oglostingaming don't forget the *entire wilderness* at this point, since there's bots scouting everywhere. if you're risking anything at all, you're getting jumped instantly because your name, location, world, and equipment are being broadcast to the most toxic pvpers out there. pvp in osrs is dead imo, and i hope it doesn't turn into such a mess in brighter shores.

I am fine with players not opting in leaderboards, however ALL players should be on leaderboards and if they dont opt in they should just be anonymous. But it breaks the point of leaderboards if people can just hide from it. I want to know my exact rank not the rank of players who have opted in.

If its strictly peer-to-peer trading, no "marketplace", trading *should* be fine. Having to find someone to trade will encourage group play for many; but "ironman" play for those less concerned with mingling.

They have made a multitude of QoL improvements, adjusted quest rewards, Pvp, combat special attacks and trading coming soon. The community was asking for leaderboards, andrew now gives us leaderboards nothing wrong with a game dev listening to the community.

New combat stuff like special attacks is likely bottlenecked by the animator/artists, a game designer/programmer working on the leaderboard which uses already made art asset icons wont likely change the timeline much for stuff for special attacks.

The devs have consistently been adding in what the community has been asking for. If you are upset about that then idk what to tell you 💀 not even mentioning the game is in early access 🤦‍♂️

Really I think the entire combat system needs to be remade. It's so boring and unimaginative. Even when special attacks come out, fishing will still be more engaging and interactive. And how do you expect to do group content with the combat system the way it is. I quit at total level 1055 and will not be coming back. I wish everyone else luck though, but this game was not a replacement for my current games and I can't see myself returning in 4+ years when it finally gets content worth grinding for. Enjoy the skin recycle simulator for what it is. And as it currently sits, the game is losing people every day, the downward trend of people quitting is not stopping yet. It has not found its core community quite yet and that's dangerous to have a BRAND new MMO settle to less than 5k players after only its first month. You cannot use the early access as an excuse either, every lazy dev these days tries to release their game in EA to their own detriment.. Gamers have been saying for a long time they are done buying into EA scams and the reality here is that there's next to nobody playing already because of it. The game launched a year too early. EASILY a year, maybe more... I don't see a "No Man's Sky redemption arc" for this game 5 years down the road. Not with this few of players already, and a dev that is supposed to have 2 decades of MMO experience. The sad reality, is that the game flopped before it even started. It's not a good looking game either, which does not help its case. It tried to ride the Gower name to get this far and only 2 weeks into launch and we're down to 6k people and dropping. GG I say, it wasn't a good run, but it was a quick one. Also, I'm not hating on the game just to hate it. I'm using my experience in this game and others to determine this game is far from being ready for even early access. I reached over 1k total level, with 250 hours in the game already. I gave it a fair shot.. I could see if you're still in ep1 or 2, you might want to keep playing for a while, but everyone I met week 1 at Crenopolis and added to my friends list has not come back online. If trends stay the same, more people will quit over the next few weeks into the Christmas season with better games getting the spotlight and taking away what few players remain here.

Leaderboards somewhat tie into the community aspect, same as in Runescape(skilling clans/crowdsourcing skilling info for wiki). I've only peeked into the discord a few times but I see a lot of top players like that kc guy in rank 11 share really helpful information on skilling methods. The players that choose to sweat their way to the top help us little ones too 😂
