The declining mental health of young LGBTQ+ people is often cited to illustrate the devastating effects of anti-LGBTQ+ policies and environments and is necessary to show the real impact of rising hate towards our community. But how can we move past the statistics around LGBTQ+ mental health, and ensure we are giving young members of our community the care they need? Through the les of her own experiences, Kei (she/they), HRC Youth Ambassador, discusses the importance of culturally competent mental health care, and highlights how we can strengthen our movement to stop overburdening young activities, and allow them to continue the change-making we need. Recorded at Time to THRIVE in the Upper Midwest on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
