I went on a three hour hike today. I'd done it once before in another life and it was like night and day how much easier it was for me now. I owe my life to you Susan. 105 pounds gone in less than 9 months. The thing I find most interesting is I WANT to exercise now. My body is naturally calling me to move more now and it's great. Hoping to hit goal body this year 🤞

Great video. I didn't exercise for about 8 months and then I knew it was time. I missed it, but I didn't think I could juggle both in the beginning. I am back to daily walking and yoga and feel great. If I feel a struggle, I will stop the exercise and focus on my food as that is the #1 priority for me.

Thanks Susan for talking about exercise. I joined BLE because of the no exercising. In a past weight-loss program I learned that I became addicted to exercise especially before going to get weight. I can relate to your description. I’m glad that my “hall pass” has expired. I’m coming from large numbers and my goal is taking longer than I planned.

Thanks Susan! I’m a 10+, 50 yr old,BLE rezoomer @265 lbs 5’8. I’ve struggled with my lifelong addiction mightily, also had a hard time finding a buddy - tried two times but because of my addiction struggle haven’t been consistent on program. When I fall off it’s all the way. I lost my job due to cv and so can’t afford boot camp right now. I was sticking to hikes which really fed my soul - being outside, grounded and feeling alive and connected spiritually. My 13 year old daughter - stuck inside with me all winter -really wanted to join a gym. I was reticent because I hate gyms and exercise because I usually feel guilty about them and I also never lose weight using them. I wanted to follow the program only but I realized I could benefit from being a good role model for my daughter at the gym, as well as focus on my mental health during these long northwest dark winters. Also being 50 and non-dairy I really want to retain bone mass and work on heart health. I also am pre-diabetic and I want to keep blood sugar down. I’m sticking to non-intense incline walks on treadmill and weights only for now and only going 3x a week. I do easily get cortisol overload and adrenal fatigue (hashimotos) if I go too hard so I keep it very easy. I’m enjoying getting my blood pumping, enjoying music, feeling more connected to my body and practicing mindfulness like I did as a young athlete. I focus on these things not weight loss. It’s turning into a fabulous de stressor from being cooped up as a stay at home mom! My food is getting brighter as I’m listening to my more grounded body and thinking about my choices more. I noticed I peeled off a pound for the first time since going too (slow loser!).. It’s good to know the info re: maintenance I’m afraid that’s 100 lbs away so I’ll see how this goes for now. THANK YOU! - xo from Seattle 🥰💓🌹

The word "excersise" varies widely in meaning with what one considers to be "excersise". I would love clarification on bunny slippers and to suggest resuming "active movement" in lieu of excersise after the first month or so after starting the plan. Such as walking each day to 8000 steps, gentle yoga or line dancing classes, etc. Whatever activity you can sustain for 20 minutes but doesn't elevate your heart rate (I think past 130 puts your body out of admoposity, sp). When starting BLE, I took bunny slippers to mean zero movement and ended up in physical therapy to build strength again. Hope to clarify for others.

Susan, your topic for this week’s vlog was so timely for me. I have been doing BLE for almost four months. On day 112 I had the thought that I should start exercising again. Automaticity sat in a while back. I could weigh and prepare a meal in the dark if I had to do so. I still have a sizable amount of weight to lose so it was just the right time. I committed to start exercising on a regular basis to those in Exhilaration House. I ask them to hold my commitment. I’m pumped! 👏🎉🌟

I’ve always hated exercise, it has always been a difficult, energy sapping chore that I had been bullied into it as a requirement for weight loss. I started BLE on April 11 and instead of having the lethargy and detox symptoms we are all warned about, I had a huge energy rush and my weekly 3 day migraines disappeared while my knee pain stopped and neck and shoulder pain eased up. I’m a crystal vaser, on day 72, 16 pounds down. I got the BLE eating program down really quickly (it just made so much sense) and have just felt the need to move. An opportunity came up for my health insurance to pay for 6 months of a health club membership when I was 8 weeks into BLE, and I took it. I was a bit wary after this video, so I decided to take it slow, initially planning on doing one Aqua Zumba class a week but it was SO MUCH FUN that I ended up enrolling in a Zumba Gold class as well. It doesn’t feel like these are taking anything from willpower reserves because they do not feel like work; I look forward to these classes all week long. In fact, I’m enjoying them so much, I’m thinking about adding a NIA (non impact aerobics) class into the mix as well, once I reach the 90 day BLE mark. For me, this exercise isn’t about weight loss at all, it’s about having excess energy that I need to expend, having fun (for the first time in a long time), having some social connection, feeling better about myself and getting my joints moving.

I think this is the hardest part of BLE long term. Especially, if you want to build muscle, because if you want to get stronger, you generally need to eat extra calories and if you gain muscle, your weight will generally go up. However, it's hard to know if you're gaining muscle or fat when your weight goes up and it's difficult to know exactly how much to increase your daily portions and it becomes harder to keep your daily portions consistent unless your amount of exercise is also completely consistent because you need to vary the amount of food based on the amount of exercise, but that can get very slippery very very fast and easily lead into saboteur thought patterns.

Ive learned to lose weight I need to focus on dialing in my nutrition and that exercise is more cardiovascular health and for my mental and emotional health in recovery. I stopped for about a month. I did cut down my exercises to 30 min from 90. I finally enjoy exercising and am finding the balance and automaticity w meals and exercising.

Great vlog. Many thanks for addressing this topic Susan. I particularly don't like exercising but know its necessary. I have been on BLE, mostly WFPB, for 2 years now and haven't hit my ideal goal weight yet, although I have lost over 45lbs. Somewhere in this journey I realised I needed to at least start brisk walking. I found I have far more energy these days and with weighing less, it's actually a pleasure to walk. I agree that you just get to a stage when you feel it's something you should add.

Okay, so over the years I've noticed that if I do even a little exercise when I'm not in a diet, my weight stabilizes... And when I do a little exercise when I am dieting, I lose weight... But often, when I'm dieting and don't, my weight just sits there... it's this real or just a coincidence? Btw... I don't love exercising, but I don't hate rebounding ? I just started your program.. My first day on Bright Lines eating will be today. I admit I'm a little nervous 😁

Hey Susan! Thank you so much for your vlogs they help me so much. I have a question about how far off we need to be from maintenance to not consider exercise. I only had 15kg to lose and I've probably got 5 or 6kgs left. I'm almost 3 months in. Should I wait? I miss running so much!

Hi Kate, if running is something you enjoy and want to incorporate it back into your routine, you should do what you think is best. You know how you feel and if something is working for you!! We recommend that you listen to your body! Here is what Susan says: support.brightlineeating.com/i-have-an-exercise-program-in-place-already-i-love-it-and-dont-want-to-give-it-up-do-i-really-have-to-stop-exercising-to-be-successful-with-bright-line-eating/

I already have a workout program in place, it’s automatic and part of my identity… but I’m not in a right size body and want bright lines. How can I navigate the weight loss food plan and my automatic workout routine?
@Brightlineeating
@Brightlineeating 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephanie! If you have an exercise regimen firmly in place already, especially if it’s a habit so automatic that it takes zero willpower to complete your workouts, you can keep exercising while you start Bright Line Eating without sabotaging your success. However, you may find that you become tired during the weight loss phase of the program, especially in the first 90 days. Easing up on your exercise may be a good idea (either in intensity, frequency, duration, or all three). You’ll be back to killer workouts in no time. Weight loss is hard on the body. Don’t expect to be able to perform like you used to when you were overloading on fuel. But this phase is temporary and worth it to lose all the fat, so your muscle definition can show! 🥰
