There are more important things to advise. For example - always pay attention to your tires, always select tires based on the weather conditions/season, and replace them, when needed. The tires are often not considered a priority by many drivers, but at the end they are the only thing between the car and the road surface. The only point of contact. You want this contact to be as stable, as possible with perfect traction. Losing traction is equal to losing control of the vehicle on the road.

Having a degree in electrical engineering and having some experience with car electrical systems and batteries, I can tell you advice #5 is no advice at all! It may be a good idea to set your car to acc. for a few seconds before starting a car as this precharges a few large capacitors in the electrical system before sending those few hundreds of amps to the starter. I was waiting for the most important, it never came. Most, but not all passenger compartment heaters operate on hot engine coolant, only rarely are they electrical. So what you have in the dash is another back-up radiator. If you're stuck in stop and go traffic, and your car starts overheating (or anytime it's overheating), even if it's really hot outside, turn off the AC, open all the windows, and turn your heater on to full. I've seen this simple, if not comfortable trick lower engine temp to safe levels in minutes.

The overtaking tip is downright dangerous! For a start, keep back from vehicles you wish to overtake in order to get a better view of what's ahead (in fact, always keep a safe distance behind vehicles in front)! Next, move across to the other side of the road when wishing to overtake, and this manoeuvre should still leave you behind the vehicle you're about to overtake, so you can move back to your original place if you notice a hazard you hadn't spotted before. Once you see the way ahead clear, then accelerate past the vehicles. As always, always indicate before making any move!

In most newer cars, the a/c compressor runs in defrost mode. To cool the car cabin down quicker, run the a/c in outside mode (no recirculate) with the front windows down for a few minutes. This will force most of the really hot air out of the car. Then close the windows and turn on recirculate mode (max a/c). And if you want to save your automatic transmission, never shift into drive or reverse while the car is moving.

For rule 6, I always leave the AC on no matter what time of year it is. It cools air in the summer but dehumidifies the air in the rain and snow. Keeps fog off your windows. I always leave the air speed maxed out and just adjust the temperature and which vents it's coming out as I go. In summer I open the windows while the system runs to start the cooling process but also have fresh air. In the winter I'll turn the air speed down to a crawl until I get heat this way there's at least enough air flow on the windshield that my breath doesn't fog it. When going downhill long distances, shift to a lower gear and avoid burning your brakes. This will also help you stay in control much easier. If your vehicle is a 4x4, and there is a lot of downhill driving to do, put it in four wheel drive as well. This way both your axles with benefit from the engine braking. Your car will rev up a bit and make a mild fluttering sound. This is normal.

Almost all newer cars in Europe have the compressor and fluid to seal holes in tires instead of a spare and jack. Same as the advice of going front and back real fast… as far as I know, in Europe we mostly drive shifters instead of automatics, even though people are preferring them more now, most of our countries teach shifters first. How TF do you want to go back and forth fast if you have to press the clutch, wait for everything to stop moving in your transmission and reverse so you don’t damage your full transmission? 😂

One thing I know is the AC Compressor turns on with the defroster on most newer vehicles. It drys the air so your windshield dries faster.
@glennnickey31605 жыл бұрын
Running the compressor occasionally in the winter time keeps the shaft seal lubricated and helps prevent refrigerant leakage.
@dan3795 жыл бұрын
@@glennnickey3160 since the mid 90s the ac is activated running your defroster and you can have the ac running with your temp on hot and your ac system will still be working to dry the air you don't have to have the ac on cold for the system to be running.

When checking the coolant in the coolant overflow container also, with care check the radiator is full. Sometimes the reserve/overflow tank is full but due to a blockage or back pressure the fluid in the radiator can be low.
@JohnnyOk3505 жыл бұрын
If you make a video like this, please understand how cars actually work. If you use the defrost in winter, the AC compressor will run. AC ≠ cold air. And if you have the blower fan on, congratulations, that's all there is to the heater system. So long as your engine coolant level is good, you have nothing to worry about. And if you think you have to turn on lights to get "voltage flowing". I don't even know what to say. You can turn on any lights you want, run the radio, paint a picture. There's always voltage to the starter main wire, and only voltage to the solenoid when the key is turned to 'start'
@damionlee76585 жыл бұрын
This whole "Lights on first" thing came about because of a side effect of battery chemistry in cold weather. That being that an immediate high draw on a cold battery is not as effective as an initial low draw followed by a high draw. The problem (as is so often the case with tips like this) is that people don't understand why the advice exists and what it is for, so they start making stuff up to shoe horn it into a scenario to make themselves sound clever. Then along come KZbinrs to pick and choose some "Internet Wisdom" and create a video like this. Between them completely ignoring everything that is known about the flow of current, battery chemistry, and how the electrical systems of a car work. But they sound smart in the video, so that's all that matters. Same goes for a lot of the other "Tips" in this video.
@Frozen_Titan5 жыл бұрын
The reason for the "lights on" is wrong and should be amended to hold key in "on" position for a few seconds. i was taught in autos in college that this is because after the car is turned off the pressure in fuel system is released. So starting this way you are priming the fuel system
