I worked at the oceanography dept at the doctoral research university called Western Michigan University and the top professors told me that the Michigan triangle has more disappearances than any other place in the world, per square mile, even more so than the Bermuda triangle…Now I have seen all types of science television documentaries that are saying the same, reinforcing these expects. Archaic humans traveled North America before the great lakes were formed ( not filled with water yet) River courses with waterfalls, big hills, valleys, natural dams that eventually failed, a stone-henge type structures. East of Milwaukee there is a huge underwater hill. When younger I thought Lake Michigan was like a bathtub. It’s not. The other Great Lakes have interesting bottoms also. Google bathology of great lakes. Very interesting.

The lakes haven’t always been so large or filled with water. The end of the Ice Age and a likely meteor strike caused the glaciers to melt, placing gazillions of tons of water on top of what had been mostly dry land. That caused collapse of the limestone, which caused the sinkholes to form.

Those holes remind me of the holes at the bottom of miners fall. As the fall retreated over time it left holes in the rock bed from the water basically drilling them out. Maybe somebody planted some ancient giant trees that grew and after the Great Flood those trees were destroyed and rotted out or became petrified like the one in Wyoming. The land used to not be under water at one time when they grew. There are very large round deep holes going mostly straight down found all over the world. I believe these tree roots holes are the answer. Ancient accounts mention them.
